Disable White "shadows" Around All Menu + Dialog Text Font Strings In Windows 7?
Jan 13, 2012After having installed a new WIn7 around all menu and dialog textes there is a "white shadow".
See attached sample snapshots: How can I permanently disable these white shadows?
Windows 7 Showing Programs On A Monitor That Doesn't Exist
Mar 31, 2012I open a program and it opens on the monitor. I think restore the size, rather than having in maximum size.
The program disappears, but is still in the task bar. I click on the program icon in the task bar to make it appear in the monitor, but the program shows to open on a non-existent monitor on the left of my monitor.
I have checked Display adapters in Device Manager and they are working ok. I have checked Control PanelDisplayChange Display Settings and all looks ok.
Everything has worked find until recently. No real changes, however I suspect Microsoft Windows 7 is doing some dirty tricks after I have made multiple complaints about their poor customer support on the phones.

Incompatible Program Does Not Exist On Computer
Aug 23, 2009I am upgrading my vista 32 install to Win 7. During the setup, the compatibilty report originally told me that Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 and Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 are preventing the upgrade.
I uninstalled Trend Micro 2009, as it's the only program I have on my computer and I've deleted all (I believe) references to it, yet the upgrade won't continue, because Trend Micro 2008 is preventing it.
Is there a reference somewhere that I could check?
Dual Monitor Text Is Different Sizes Between Screens

I can't get the text to be the same size on both monitors. I use to be able to with vista ( they just where)
I am using a java based application with alot of text (only allowed on set of the text) The size difference is like this ---- on monitor this size ---- the other this size.
I have tried mucking around with the resolution it makes the situation worse.
Windows Update Does Not Work, Or Exist On Computer
Sep 23, 2012I recently had a few bad viruses on my computer (some trojan and google redirect virus). I think I got rid of them, but I deleted a lot of stuff maybe I should not have in the process. Windows update no longer works. For a while, I was not even able to scan for updates, then I ran the fix it from the microsoft website and that let me scan, but when I try to install, I get this error message: Code 80246008 Windows Update encountered an unknown error. When I click on the link to get help with this error, it can't find any information on it.Anyways, when I go into control panel > administrative tools > services, Windows Update is not even in the list. How do I get it back? Do I have to reinstall windows?
Edit: I should also note I just tried to install the latest virus definitions for microsoft security essentials and I got error code 0x80240022. Says there may be a missing system file, an incorrect system setting, or a problem with a registry file.
Shadows Problem
Nov 8, 2009I had been running Windows XP 32-bit up until a couple days ago, and now that I've upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit I'm having various problems with games and other software. One of the bigger issues right now is that shadows look absolutely terrible in every game I've played (currently Borderlands, Shattered Horizon and Left 4 Dead). They look really blocky and grainy, especially when viewed up close. I never had this problem with XP.
I checked my graphics driver and it's up to date. The rest of the graphics seem to more or less be okay, as far as I can tell. I've checked to make sure that the shadows are turned up to full, and they are. Any ideas what's causing this or what I can do to try and fix it?
Windows 7 Desktop Shadows ?
Mar 25, 2011I don't know why, but ever since I activated windows 7 ultimate on my new lenovo thinkpad x120e, there has been weird shadows on the windows interface (taskbar). Here are two pictures: The first one shows my Lenovo x120e destop with the weird shadows, the second one is from another one of my windows 7 pc's that do not have the shadows problem. As you can see, the taskbar on the first image had these weird shadows, and I want to make these shadows go away. All settings for appearance are the same for these two computers, but the one w/ the shadow problem has windows 7 ultimate, and the one without the problem (second image) has windows 7 home premium.first one (shadows-bad-my current x120e desktop):

My passwords have not been recognized, the games are incredibly difficult to download and when they finally are something is always not Kosher. Now that Sherlock Holms has been downloaded and the program begun, there are no objects at the bottom of the screen to identify (picture too large?) and no way to get out except to hit "escape".

Nov 6, 2009When my computer finishes starting up, it ends with what looks like blobs of colored pixels in a line at the top of my screen. This happened for the first time tonight and I have no clue what happened. I took out my video card and plugged my monitor into the mother boards vga slot. Same result. Then i used a HDMI cable from my monitor to my motherboards HDMI slot. Still, with the same result. I plugged my Xbox 360 up to monitor with the HDMI cable and it looks fine so it's not on the monitor's end.
When the computer is loading, the screen stays black. Then when my desktop would normally show is when the pixels show up and the rest of the screen is black.
Include Inheritable Permissions From This Objects Parent
Dec 8, 2012This is a brand new machine with a brand new install of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1. I'm having a problem with the inheritable permissions. In the Advanced Security Settings for one of my games, I'm trying to Include Inheritable Permissions From This Objects Parent. The check box has a check in it and it is grayed out but under Inherited From, is shows <not inherited>.
I click on Change Permissions, the Include Inheritable Permissions isn't grayed out and has a check in the box but when I click on Apply, it doesn't change the inheritable permissions. It's probably something I'm not savvy enough to catch but I think I'm at the limit of my knowledge with this. It shows me as Owner with all permissions but still having a problem getting it to start without a pop up asking if I want to let it run.

Long Filename Objects Not Copying - How To Locate
Mar 22, 2011When I copy folders from hdd to ext.hdd (or the reverse), sometimes I get a dialogue informing me that some file's names were too long for the destination. It gives me the option to skip or cancel. What really sux here is that I am not beinginformed/being provided with a list of what files did not make the journey.Anyone else run into this and is there a solution? Perhaps some copy/move setup parameter that I am not aware of?

Solution 2: Instruct the end users to download and install PowerPoint Viewer 2010 Outcome: The Smart Art DOES animate; Embedded videos will NOT play.
I discovered that if I open the presentation file in PowerPoint 2010 I get a warning that external medial objects have been blocked. If I click the Enable Content button, then close Powerpoint and go back to Powerpoint Viewer 2010 (on the same computer) embedded video WILL play. How does someone who does not have the full version of Powerpoint 2010 open the presentation file and enable content?
To make things even more complicated... I just opened the Help menu in Viewer. -> The Media tab indicates shortcuts for start, stop, volume, etc. Then, I opened the readme file. -> "PowerPoint Viewer does not support running macros, programs, or opening linked or embedded objects". That's a bit contradictory, isn't it? Media IS an embedded object, is it not?!

Mar 3, 2011Ok this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
Computer Doesn't Use Arial Font - All Text Became Italicized

Apr 4, 2012my monitor exhibited signs of flickering during start-up, but only minor ones and would just stop at the 'Welcome' screen of windows so I didn't give it much thought. Iv'e been using it with the cpu the same time I bought the monitor.But after some time, the flickering got worse. It went from 1-2 second interval flickers to a whole 10 seconds of blackness before it showed anything.Now,Iv'e got a new cpu but still using the old monitor. After a day or so, the monitor exhibited the first symptoms of my first cpu, so I just dismissed it. But after a week, It got a hell worse, before I even start-up my computer, the monitor doesn't show Analog/Digital at the top-left corner of the screen. PLUS my cpu keeps restarting after I pushed the ON button after 10 seconds or so. Is the monitor responsible for the restart and what could be the reason for the flickering?

The computer turns on everything initiates like normal but the monitor wont turn on, im not getting any signal. There are no beep codes etc, also ive tried removing the little lithium battery to reset the bios and still nothing. Ive tried using a different monitor and its saying no signal. With this computer i was attempting to add more ram to the extra ram slots and the computer booted up and worked but i only had 2.50 gigs of ram rather than 5? Dec 2, 2009I just finished a new machine, EVGA VIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ card. The card has two DVI outlets - 1 S Video outlet. I'm using a Sony Bravia 32" XBR for a monitor.
Using a DVI to HDMI adapter gives me a not so good picture.
Using a DVI to VGA adapter and connecting to the TV in the "PC IN" area, give me a better picture, but still nothing all that great.
Using my Dell laptop, with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G video and an HDMI outlet gives me a great picture when I go HDMI to HDMI.
I know I am not happy with what I have, I don't know what to do next.
My 1st thought, based on the laptop experience, is to get a video card with an HDMI outlet.
My 2nd thought is to try the S Video connection, which I would if I had a cable.
My 3rd thought was to come here and ask advice from people who probably can come up with more than 3 thoughts at a time.
Dual Monitor RDP To XP Computer
Aug 8, 2009I've searched the internet far and wide as well as these forums and have not been able to find the answer. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law's dog killed my 2nd monitor so I haven't been able to test on my own since installing the RC version last week. (new monitor will arrive next week)
My question:
If you RDP in Windows 7 from a computer with dual monitors to an XP computer with dual monitors is the multimon support available?
I want the session to feel as though I'm at work with dual monitors.... not just spanning the 2 monitors. My work computer runs windows xp.
Currently the only way to get this functionality in xp is to use the span command and to use add-in 3rd part software that does not work that great.
Lines On Computer Monitor?
Jun 23, 2012My monitor starts OK but in a few minutes the screen is either covered by a fine mesh multi colored grid or 4 verticle bars approx. 1-1/2" wide made up of fine multi colored lines similar to those seen when I defrag but running top to bottom of the screen.
