I have two computers both windows 7, one has a program on it that I would like to be able to see and work on in the other computer if poss. what is the easiest way to do this?
View 3 RepliesI have windows 7 and when I purchased it I had no clue about computer share and logging into your own computer.I didn't realize if I had a computer you would have to have permission to access your files.Now that I am stuck with windows 7 and I don't have permission to access files such as Documents and Settings (the little gold lock) I want a computer that is MINE alone and I don't have to ask permission to do anything.I have been through all the steps as Administrator, system recovery, reinstalling windows and I am always locked out of system? files.The first 2 steps setting up the system is country/language, which is understandable then Name and Password.What do I need to skip Name and Password, not being or sharing with any users or owner or administrator. Just turn on my computer, it opens to the desktop and go to work.Is there any way to have this luxury? I think it is called a standalone PC? It doesn't look like any of the windows 7 can be like this so what can I do without buying a new computer or is that not an option??

While I have been successful in sharing folders between two, am unable to do with third one.KR-PC is able to connect with RK-PC. but RK-PC is not able to connect to NUPC-PC This snap shot is from RK-PC. When I put in the homegroup password from NUPC-PC, it says invalid username or bad password.

This has been baffling me for at least a month now, my PC will randomly start to slow down after a few hours (2-4) of being used. This began to happen randomly and after no new software or updates where installed.So far I have tried to take off all my overclocks, run a CPU test for 24hours (stable) and all the defrags and disk cleanups that I could be bothered to run. Worst thing is this started happening a day before I was going to make a restore point.All my system info is on my profile.
EDIT: I forgot to mention where the slowdowns occur, they include programs taking a good 5 seconds to open and more confusingly sites take a good 30-40 seconds to load when shortly after boot it takes less than a second.I have checked my network usage and system resource usage and both are within their normal ranges.
My computer all of a sudden isn't displaying the info on drop down boxes, Such as dates for ordering on line for credit card info or sizes, etc. I don't know how to fix this. I can't see the Category choices in the box below this dialog box.I don't have the money to call Microsoft.

Lenovo = IP 192.168.1.1
Gateway = 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Dell = IP 192.168.1.2
Gateway = 192.168.1.1

I goto change advanced sharing setting: (in both laptop)
- Turn on Network Discovery
- Turn on file and printer sharing
- Turn off password protection
But I can goto to another laptop isn't name computer alfa1. I goto run \alfa1. But don't access to it! Also I'm a administrator. My OS is Windows 7 home premium and another system Windows 7 Ultimate.
My computer in question is a Toshiba L455-S5980 running Windows 7

I have a wireless network with a Linksys WRT160N router connected to a
Sony desktop running XP MCE(2005). In addition, I have another Toshiba
laptop running XP Home Edition.
With the new Windows 7 laptop in the Network I can see all 3 computers, as well
as access files sharing in both the XP computers. However, I cannot access any of
the Win 7 files from the XP computers.
When I go to Network and click on Win 7 name it shows two folders as being shared. Even though one folder indicates "Share" when I Right click on it and go to "Share with" it has a lock icon beside "Nobody" and I cannot change it to Homegroup Read/Write etc. The other folder "Share with" Advanced sharing and I do not know what further to do in ths regards.
The XP computers Workgroup name is MSHOME; however the Win 7 laptop was
named WORKGROUP by default, but I changed this name to MHOME where all 3
computers now have the same Workgroup name, If anyone can assist me in establishing file sharing of the Win 7 .
I have a network setup with in our home, and am able to connect to it through windows 7 but after a bit of time all the other computers dissappear off of the network. Also I am having difficutly sharing my folders on the network. The other computers in my home operate on Vista or lower so I am not sure of the issue.
I have lowered the encryption and allowed windows to activly look for networks which it does well but it will only do this for a short period of time. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Like I said the network will apper and I do have access to it on occassion but then disappers and will not return.

There are 2 drives on all computers: C with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed, and D. All computers are connecting to the same router. What should I do if I want Computer 1 to access drive D of Computer 2 and Computer 2 to access drive D of computer 1 while Computer 3 and Computer 4 can't access any other drive apart from their own. -Computer 1 sees Computer 2 and 3 just fine. Can browse the folders they have shared, etc.
-Computer 3 sees Computer 1 and 2 just fine. Can browse the folders they have shared, etc.
-Computer 2 sees Computer 1 just fine. Computer seems to be somewhat aware of Computer 3 (it sees it as a media device for viewing pictures/video/whatever) but it does not see it under the Computer list in Network. In other words, it can't navigate to it and browse its folders.
I've messed with everything on Computer 3 I could possibly think of. There was never at any point an option to select who had access to what, specifically. I simply told it to give full permissions to "EVERYONE" which I would assume is everyone on the network.Firewall is off on all three computers.
-Sharing and discovery is on on all three computers.
-File and Printer sharing is on on all three computers.
-Public folder sharing is on on all three computers.
It can't be a "64-bit and 32-bit can't talk" issue since Computer 1 sees and is seen by Computer 3 just fine.It can't be a "wireless and wired can't talk" issue since Computer 1 sees and is seen by Computer 3 just fine.
I ripped my personal CD collection to .WAV as I have the space and thought it was best quality. I used WMP. Everything ripped fine for a while, the first song of each album kept 'losing' its track information. I would use the Find Album Info feature of WMP to fix this. Track info currently displays perfect in Windows Media Player Library or when browing using Windows Media Center. However, if I view the files in Windows Explorer, or use another program like Winamp to play the files (which i generally prefer), the first track of all my ripped CDs in WAV format has no track information, Unknown Album, title, even tho' it displays fine in WMP Library. I cannot EDIT the track in Windows Explorer, and I can't find a track editor freeware that supports .WAV.
