Simple stuff like mouse speed pointer color, and power settings are always changing on me?
The only clean up utility I use is ccleaner? What could be doing this? As a gamer its VERY annoying to have my mouse settings always changing within windows.
I know that a feature of Windows 7 is changing the theme from aero to baisc during resource intensive moments particularly games. how can I disable this? I just upgraded from Vista to 7 Ultimate x64bit and I find this very distracting when playing games in windowed mode. This did not occur in Vista when playing games in Windowed mode.
I would just like to ask why I can't see the little blue bar which usually is next to the partition or drive... You can take a look here: [URL] I've tried all the different viewings possible but none of them make it look like this: [URL]
I recently built a new gaming computer. It runs everything smoothly, but there is one glaring problem that I cannot seem to shake. My computer will at unpredictable times halt everything (freeze) for 1-3 seconds and then resume. During this time, all sound seems to be directed to a different audio port. It seemed to start with my audio. I would plug in speakers, and then I would plug in a 3.5mm headset and it would intermittently (and rapidly) detect the headset. Looking at my realtek audio software, the input that the headset was plugged into would rapidly turn on and off. Plugged speakers into that port and it worked with no problems. The headset is not to blame because I used it with no problem on my laptop. I then suspected it was a problem since I was doing dual audio output. I downloaded the newest drivers from the ASUS site for the realtek audio manager. My computer would still do the intermittent freezing. I have read some suggestions that it may be my memory configuration. I am a programmer and not a hardware specialist, so I am unfamiliar with how a memory configuration works and how to correct this problem. I downloaded a memory qvl update from the ASUS site, and it only seemed to bring up a console window for a split second before fading out.
I have two computers both windows 7, one has a program on it that I would like to be able to see and work on in the other computer if poss. what is the easiest way to do this?
This has been baffling me for at least a month now, my PC will randomly start to slow down after a few hours (2-4) of being used. This began to happen randomly and after no new software or updates where installed. So far I have tried to take off all my overclocks, run a CPU test for 24hours (stable) and all the defrags and disk cleanups that I could be bothered to run. Worst thing is this started happening a day before I was going to make a restore point. All my system info is on my profile.
EDIT: I forgot to mention where the slowdowns occur, they include programs taking a good 5 seconds to open and more confusingly sites take a good 30-40 seconds to load when shortly after boot it takes less than a second.I have checked my network usage and system resource usage and both are within their normal ranges.
My computer all of a sudden isn't displaying the info on drop down boxes, Such as dates for ordering on line for credit card info or sizes, etc. I don't know how to fix this. I can't see the Category choices in the box below this dialog box.I don't have the money to call Microsoft.
I was just wondering if I am able to take windows home basic off a store bought computer and put it on another computer. The reason for this is I am currently building my own and want to avoid unnecessary cost. As I own a laptop that I will no longer be using and a retail copy(windows home premium). So can I take the windows off my old laptop and put it on the computer?
I do a lot of video editing with different software and just lately when rendering a video, some programes are crashing after about 5 mins, and some change from Windows aero to basic and an alert in the taskbar shows "The color scheme has been changed to Windows Basic - The current color scheme has exceeded its allowed memory so the color scheme has been automatically changed to improve performance. Click to see more information." I've tried this ("Fix Run menu > sysdm.cpl > Advanced Tab > performance > select adjust for best performance > make sure you do not allow Windows to choose for you because your computer does not know whats best --- Make sure Enable Aero Peek is checked") but it made no difference. I've noticed a few people who have this problem also have high spec gaming pc's. My pc is'nt that high spec but not to bad here are my specs [URL] Also when using Camtasia screen capture after about a minute i get alert your pc is running slow and changes to Windows basic. I've run the Windows aero troubleshooter and it says there are no issues with anything. My Windows experience score is 5.4.
i have a hp laptap with a core i3 . with 8gig of ram. 500 gig hard drive. i made a 100 gig partion and it went to dynamic changing it back to basic. i read the mini tools application. if i tried that would it erase my hard drive if i went back to basic. all i wanted was a back up for my files.
when I edit a text in Windows 7 .txt format, is there a hidden header that registers other info like the name of the computer, date, etc? If yes, how can I see it?
i have a fairly new laptop with windows 7 (i can't remember which version), and i was wondering how to change the colors, if that makes sense. The laptop came installed with some default color scheme which i liked, but when i tried to watch a movie with Windows Media center it changed it to "windows 7 basic". it does this every time i use the program, but until now it has all ways automatically changed back
During the last week or so my computer has slown down considerably. Simple tasks make my cpu spike up to 80% and browsing the net and play video's keeps it at a solid 100%. I saw the TSG SySinfo msg well making this thread but wasn't sure if it was an advert trying to trick me. Sorry for the paranoia but you know how it is on the net these days.Specs:AMD Phenom 2 x4 810 processor 2.61 GHz 4GB ram windows 7 32bit ATI RADEON HD
I bought my new computer with Windows 7 Home Basic and it runs great. I like the gadgets but have a question. My CPU temperature is about 140 degrees, and when I run a high-tech game it rises to 160 degrees. It runs fine, but is this what the rest of you are getting?
Ever since I changed to Win 7 my mp3 files will every once in a while will change to .TMP. I then have to change them back to mp3 by showing the extention and then editing the name to change it back. Why is it doing this? I have tried re-converting them to mp3 (dispite being mp3's) but it doesn't work.
Now, when I was volume leveling everything, 860 songs changed their extention to .TMP. Is there a way to get them back to mp3 without editing them one by one. And, again, why is it doing this.
Had a BSOD last week, never had one in months, I was "ok, something happened it's not a problem". Just got a second one right now, so now I'm more like "what's happening "
I am on a network that contains both XP and Windows 7 computers. The problem at hand is on a Windows 7 computer (Computer 9). The XP computer is Computer 4. I succeeded in accessing Computer 4 from Computer 9 by typing my Computer 4 credentials into a window that popped up on Computer 9 the first time that I attempted to access Computer 4 from Computer 9. After that, the password on Computer 4 was changed. Now, when I try to access Computer 4 from Computer 9, I receive the following message: "Windows cannot access \COMPUTER 4..You do not have permission to access \COMPUTER-4. Contact your network administrator to request access." Can anyone please tell me how to access the pop-up window on Computer 9 that will let me type in the new Computer 4 password?
I got a Sony Computer about a year ago and it's been randomly changing my brightness out of no where. Generally it moves it two below whatever I set it as and then changes it back to whatever I have set it on.
I have tried doing everything I can think of to fix it. I changed my brightness to whatever it was changing it to, figuring that would work. It would do the same thing with the new brightness (unless it was a low brightness, then it would bring it up). I thought it might be the Adaptive Brightness thing new computers come with, but mine was off! I turned it on and it stopped doing it for about ten minutes, but then continued doing it.
My computer is a Sony VAIO computer, running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I was banned by my computer's ip address from a particular website and I wanted to get around that by changing my computer's ip address. My question is will this mess up my internet connection or do anything else unforseen to my computer?
This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.
Before After
My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
So far ,the only info i can find about my realtek NIC aren't helping me much, so i can't find a more recent driver . Device manager and the realtek network diagnostic utility tool only give minimal details about my NIC.
i've notices windows 7 add all sort of new meta data for it's video files.which is cool, but for some reason i cant edit those details. they seems to be locked. How can i Edit video details??
I HATE the various icon views. I'd like Win7 to ONLY use details view. It's annoying when Win7 reverts to icon view when I'm saving a file, or when I'm inserting an image in Word.Where can I tell Win7 to use only details view at all times and in all situations?
I've running Windows 7.I want to set the Windows Explorer view to permanently display the files in the "details" view. I can't seem to be able to achieve it.In XP it was just a case of setting the view to details and then choosing folder options on the menu bar and pressing the apply to all folders button. And windows explorer wouuld display all the files and folders in the "details" view.I can't seem to do this in Windows 7.
I set the columns and their widths in "details" view for almost all folders in a certain way in WinExplorer.
Sometimes (I guess when the dir contains e.g. videos *.avi) additional columns where automatically shown, the column order and width differs.
I don't want in any case to see a "type" and "length" columns. How can I set a details view really for all folders on my hard disc even when it contains *.avi videos or other multimedia stuff?
