View 1 RepliesI am writing this right now because after the last BSOD it said "Windows can not start" and I had to restore to when it was previously working. So up until that point this is what I did.Since working with computers almost my entire life I know most BSOD are due to either bad memory, drivers, or bios. I started there and updated my nvidea drivers but it happened again. I moved to the motherboard bios.I did find a newer one on there and using ASUS tool I flashed the BIOS. Same thing still happened. Next I ran memtestx86 for 8 hours and it returned no errors.At this point I just decided to look for newest drivers for everything. One thing that happened consistently was that my wireless USB adapter from Cisco had to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to work. I went there first, reinstalled the drivers but still the same thing. I thought maybe it was my hard drive. I downloaded Seagates Utility tool and ran all the tests and they all passed fine. I ran defrag just for good measure along with windows version of the mem test and that passed as well. I still continued to get the BSOD and I have to tell you I'm irritated and also stumped.
Next I moved onto software. I have been using AVG free for years but I know virus programs do some crazy stuff and I got rid of that. Turned on windows defender. I decided that since the wireless adapter didn't work after these crashes maybe lets just go to a direct wired connection. I disconnected the cisco wireless adapter and I'm just using a direct connect right to my router.These come at random times.. nothing I do can trigger it. It can stay on for days and not crash and then there are times it can be up for 10 min and crash.Some of you might notice that in the CPU-Z screenshots I had to take the screenshot with the error underneath. Every time I chose either of the two slots it crashed the program.I have not done anything internally besides add some neon to my computer which does not connect to the board at all.I have seen IRQL blue screen once so I even went as far to go into the power settings for windows and make sure the usb and everything never went into any kind of "standby" mode.
I believe this is still under warranty and I would like to go in with good information if I need to challenge and get new hardware if that's what it is.On a side note I have not touched the memory physically. I know some suggestions were to reseed the memory and chip but In my opinion something that has been working for months that never moves off my desk and is never basically touched besides the power button shouldn't mean something just came loose after 4 months of owning it.Again that's just my opinion. I have removed AVG, Ad-Aware, Some webcam motion detector software (which was a joke) and the only thing that was really installed was Skyrim.

I chose to ignore it as its the first time it happened and i hoped it wouldn't happen again.I came home 2 days after , and in 1 evening i got around 4 BSODs.Some BSODs occured while i was playing games , and they would happen with some lines appearing on the screen for a few seconds and the computer freezing , and then i would get the BSOD.I thought it was something GPU related , probably driver related , so i reinstalled the drivers and all , but nothing happened as they still occur.

When I bought this computer I did not face any problem like this, it was running smooth and fast. I am using CCleaner to clean up my temp files and registries, but why it still runs slow?

so recently (in november) i upgraded my cpu, mobo, and ram, and have been getting many bsods. my new cpu is the amd bulldozer 8 core, and since its been known to have some problems, i updated my bios to the latest available (a beta bios). that fixed my steam games giving bsods. now i randomly get bsods every once in a while (every week or two) but the last few days i have gotten a bsod every day. i have disabled c1e state on my bios, and that made it so i don't bsod while watching embedded Internet videos. i also installed the windows bulldozer hotfix, which made my pc faster. then i noticed something special about my bsods - they only seem to happen while i am doing something not very resource intensive, like web browsing. it never happens while i am playing a game. so i thought it might be a driver having issues with state changes of my cpu. i disabled c6 state in my bios just in case, but that didn't seem to help much.

First my PC just started to turn off itself like there was no power I changed the PSU to a new one, but when I started to get BSOD's, I made a fresh clean Win 7 64 bit Prof install, installed all the drivers all windows updates and now....BSOD's continue. View 8 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing very random BSOD. I keep my HTPC on 24/7 and this happens usually when I am not on a computer or have a huge copying job running. I have run memory test and there are no errors. Just changed my SSD and Mobo. I was previously having BSODs as well but I think I nailed that one by updating the firmware on my OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. This is a very new install. Just installed about 7 days ago and left it to run to see stability, but it doesn't seem to be stable.

I have just upgraded my SSD to a Samsung 830 256GB 830 and mobo to an Asus P8Z77-V PRO.
if this BSOD is anything for me to be concerned about. OS is Win 7 Pro x64 and the laptop is a HP 8740W. The system is rock solid as far as I know (it's stress-tested very often) and this is the first BSOD I've managed to get out of it. Win 7 was freshly installed around 2 weeks ago on the system and everything was updated. When the BSOD occurred I wasn't really doing anything except changing the Windows Appearance settings.I didn't manage to grab what it said on the BSOD screen except Win32k.sys.

Ever since I changed to Win 7 my mp3 files will every once in a while will change to .TMP. I then have to change them back to mp3 by showing the extention and then editing the name to change it back. Why is it doing this? I have tried re-converting them to mp3 (dispite being mp3's) but it doesn't work.
Now, when I was volume leveling everything, 860 songs changed their extention to .TMP. Is there a way to get them back to mp3 without editing them one by one. And, again, why is it doing this.
My computer won't let me change the background it is just the defalt windows one.its an asus eee netbook.

I am on a network that contains both XP and Windows 7 computers. The problem at hand is on a Windows 7 computer (Computer 9). The XP computer is Computer 4. I succeeded in accessing Computer 4 from Computer 9 by typing my Computer 4 credentials into a window that popped up on Computer 9 the first time that I attempted to access Computer 4 from Computer 9. After that, the password on Computer 4 was changed. Now, when I try to access Computer 4 from Computer 9, I receive the following message: "Windows cannot access \COMPUTER 4..You do not have permission to access \COMPUTER-4. Contact your network administrator to request access." Can anyone please tell me how to access the pop-up window on Computer 9 that will let me type in the new Computer 4 password?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Sony Computer about a year ago and it's been randomly changing my brightness out of no where. Generally it moves it two below whatever I set it as and then changes it back to whatever I have set it on.
I have tried doing everything I can think of to fix it. I changed my brightness to whatever it was changing it to, figuring that would work. It would do the same thing with the new brightness (unless it was a low brightness, then it would bring it up). I thought it might be the Adaptive Brightness thing new computers come with, but mine was off! I turned it on and it stopped doing it for about ten minutes, but then continued doing it.
My computer is a Sony VAIO computer, running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I was banned by my computer's ip address from a particular website and I wanted to get around that by changing my computer's ip address. My question is will this mess up my internet connection or do anything else unforseen to my computer?

What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
I started getting BSOD two weeks ago. As far as I can remember the first time I had a BSOD was on the day I installed Max Payne 3 (I read somewhere that the some guy had also this problem when he installed max payne). There were two occasions that I got a BSOD upon starting Max Payne 3. But lately I'm getting BSOD when doing low-load stuffs like browsing with no other apps opened. I've already done memtest with 10 passes with no errors. I'm 24 hours prime95 stable. I just don't get it! I've manually set my timings for my ram. I'm not doing any overclock. Everything is on stock settings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTrying to play a game and since it's Jap, I had to change the system locale to Japan. After rebooting, because it requires a reboot, I got a BSOD in about a minute. I thought it was okay and wouldn't happen again because it ran out of memory or something. After I reboot, I got another BSOD and now it's saying "Reboot or insert proper boot device.
I went to the BIOS and my HD was the first boot priority. I'm a total noobie when it comes to computers.
I have an ASUS K52F-BBR5 Notebook. Could my HD be corrupted or is there a way to fix this? I'm currently finding my installation disk to see if I can do a startup repair.
In the start menu the games I play don't go higher up the list, in fact they keep getting pushed down until they aren't even in the menu at all by programs that I run once in a blue moon.
Games should be ordered by how frequently they are used, the same way that all other programs are, despite the fact that there is a games folder.
...and yes, I'm aware that games can be pinned to the start menu.
I recently got an Asus 1GB GTS450.It seems to be working fine with my 400Watt psu.However on the box of the card it says it needs a minimum 450 watts.Should I upgrade my psu? my card seems to work just fine.

So i recently downloaded daggerfall (off the elder scrolls website), which is the second in the elder scrolls series and installed it using dosbox. It then after much installation stated that i required a CD. But this shouldn't have happened and i followed all of the commands of the installation guide as i should have.

This is happening only with VLC Media Player and IIRC only with the few latest releases of VLC (I'm now using the latest one, v.1.1.1).
