Back in Windows XP, I was able to increase a PS/2 mouse's sampling rate from its default setting to 200 Hz at `Device Manager > Mouse > 'Name of Mouse' > Properties > Advanced Settings > Sample Rate` (like this [link]), but this setting is now gone in Windows 7. Is there another way to increase or change a PS/2 mouse's polling/refresh/sample rate in 64-bit Windows 7?The mouse uses generic installed-by-Windows default drivers back in XP, and the same with Windows 7.Edit: The screenshot is not from my PC. I just got it somewhere in the internet. It is just to illustrate how to edit a PS/2 mouse's sample rate back in Windows XP.

Tried using it with both enabled and disabled onboard realtek chip but that does not solve the problem. Anyway, I see in device driver that FIREWIRE sets up fine (TEXAS INSTRUMENTS) on my INTEL motherboard, but the device, high end Mackie firewire device, does not work.
Installed the MACKIE ASIO driver and nothing, not even a POP UP saying NEW DEVICE found.
This is a shame if this turns out to be true as the lack of Vista driver (more than one year after Vista came out), made me go to a Mac for the past year.
Was hoping the vista driver would work, especially since it's a standard ASIO audio driver for Vista.
I'm having a problem when I connect or disconnect my firewire cable I get a BSOD. I'm not sure what to do. I think I have the latest drivers for firewire.

No matter if I connect it to a audio receiver or to the monitor I only get a maximum of 2 channels and Bit Depths 16-bit.Sample rates are only shown as 44.1kHz and 48.0kHz and the HDMI jack only shows L and R. It wont let me test a surround sound speaker system.The stats to this video cards sound will allow much higher samples and bits.All this information was gathered in the Windows 7 sound properties.I click on advanced in the sound properties and still cannot change to a higher quality that 48000 Hz.

Sometimes this can crash microsoft messenger as well.I have to restart the application for the sound to work again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing very random BSOD. I keep my HTPC on 24/7 and this happens usually when I am not on a computer or have a huge copying job running. I have run memory test and there are no errors. Just changed my SSD and Mobo. I was previously having BSODs as well but I think I nailed that one by updating the firmware on my OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. This is a very new install. Just installed about 7 days ago and left it to run to see stability, but it doesn't seem to be stable.

I have just upgraded my SSD to a Samsung 830 256GB 830 and mobo to an Asus P8Z77-V PRO.
if this BSOD is anything for me to be concerned about. OS is Win 7 Pro x64 and the laptop is a HP 8740W. The system is rock solid as far as I know (it's stress-tested very often) and this is the first BSOD I've managed to get out of it. Win 7 was freshly installed around 2 weeks ago on the system and everything was updated. When the BSOD occurred I wasn't really doing anything except changing the Windows Appearance settings.I didn't manage to grab what it said on the BSOD screen except Win32k.sys.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a LaCie 2TB external drive that I use to backup my internal drives using Acronis TI. On WinXP I was using Firewire800 and it worked flawlessly. When I switched to Windows 7 the Firewire800 transfer speed dropped dramatically. I've contacted LaCie and they say they can't guarantee Firewire800 with Windows7. I switched back to using USB and it works, but still slow. Would it be worth my while to install and run my TI backups via Firewire in virtual XP mode? Will this in fact work?
ps. does anyone foresee better future support in Windows7 for Firewire800?
I routinely get the "This device is currently in use" message when I try to eject an external drive from my Windows 7 64-bit OS. I have no idea what program might be accessing the drive to cause that message. How do I find out? I can, of course, reboot, but that shouldn't be necessary.

The hard drive died, along with the motherboard.I purchased a new hard drive and the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and had the shop replace the MB, Install the new hard drive and O/S.The motherboard is an ASUS M4A785-M, with an on-board Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (according to Windows Device Manager).I have a couple of additional cards installed, one is an eSata controller for an external hard drive and the other is a SIIG DP FireWire 800 3-Port PCIe card.I initially installed the SIIG because the FireWire chip set is Texas Instruments, because I have a PreSonus Firestudio Mobile (sound card, recording hardware)and it only plays nicely with Texas Instruments. The SIIG card shows up in Device Manager under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers as "Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller", which I "assume" is correct?
My problem is the PreSonus hardware refuses show up in Device Manager or initialize (there is an indicator light on the front of the unit that will glow blue when it is connected or flash blue-red when it isn't). PreSonus has a driver set for the Firestudio Mobile, that is called Universal Control.I have attempted to install Universal Control several times, but each attempt has resulted in failure, with the Driver version showing 0.0.0 etc. I realize this is the problem, but I have no idea how to force the issue.If I could get the PreSonus drivers to install, I would be home free (I think).he PreSonus hardware should show up in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers, but it doesn't.I have also posted about the issue on the PreSonus forum, but haven't had any solutions posted.This computer and the hardware are what I use to run my Recording Studio and without the Firestudio, I am effectively out of business.I should also note, that I haven't even installed any other software beyond windows 7, other than a couple of utilities. I have a new computer running Windows 7. It is functioning well, apart from the firewire card not being recognized. Pages on the web offering advice on this kind of problems start their solutions with going to the device manager and expanding the "IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers" node in the device tree. Only I don't have such a node. How can I get the "IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers" node to appear in the device manager?

What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to play a game and since it's Jap, I had to change the system locale to Japan. After rebooting, because it requires a reboot, I got a BSOD in about a minute. I thought it was okay and wouldn't happen again because it ran out of memory or something. After I reboot, I got another BSOD and now it's saying "Reboot or insert proper boot device.
I went to the BIOS and my HD was the first boot priority. I'm a total noobie when it comes to computers.
I have an ASUS K52F-BBR5 Notebook. Could my HD be corrupted or is there a way to fix this? I'm currently finding my installation disk to see if I can do a startup repair.
