I routinely get the "This device is currently in use" message when I try to eject an external drive from my Windows 7 64-bit OS. I have no idea what program might be accessing the drive to cause that message. How do I find out? I can, of course, reboot, but that shouldn't be necessary.
On one of my Win 7 Pro computers, I almost always get the error message when trying to *eject* a flash/thumb drive: "Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device. This device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again." This occurs all the time, even when I close down Adobe Illustrator, the program I usually copy a file from onto the flash drive.
I'm trying to get rid of all of the CD drives that are showing up under "devices with removable storage." The go from CD Drive ( F: ) all the way to ( X: )...is there a way to get rid of these?
my Laptop lenovo DVD drive ejects by itself as soon as the laptop is turned on.. Before it started it used toe take a long time to read a disk and than would eject it giving an error message Please insert a disk in drive. After a while it just kept ejecting as soon as its turned on.
My CD-ROM drive keeps randomly ejecting, then going back in by itself without me doing anything. I can just sit and watch the computer (a desktop) as it does this. It's also not doing it at regular intervals. It just started doing this, too. I had updated my Java, but that's the only thing I did today; I don't know if it's related
How can I solve this problem? My Acer computer disc drive has always ejected discs whenever I try to insert themI never receive any error message, it will not even try to pull the DVD or CD in.
I have an external USB 3.0 HDD as well as an internal SATA 3 HDD. I am unable to eject (ie "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" ) either the drives because I get the error:Quote :This device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the devices, and then try again?
I recently installed windows 7 on my dell xps m1530 laptop. Till yesterday, the dvd drive was working perfectly fine, but yesterday, it just suddenly started ejecting all the cd/dvd i inserted. I tried using Microsoft trouble shooting, and when I chose that I was having a problem in playing the dvd, it started scanning for errors, and i inserted a dvd during it, it started working. But when the program ended, it found no problems. After closing the program, I inserted another dvd, and the same problem. The dvd drive is TEAC DVD+-RW DVW28SLC. I have tried reinstalling the firmware using device manager but it doesn't work.
I have a LaCie 2TB external drive that I use to backup my internal drives using Acronis TI. On WinXP I was using Firewire800 and it worked flawlessly. When I switched to Windows 7 the Firewire800 transfer speed dropped dramatically. I've contacted LaCie and they say they can't guarantee Firewire800 with Windows7. I switched back to using USB and it works, but still slow. Would it be worth my while to install and run my TI backups via Firewire in virtual XP mode? Will this in fact work?
ps. does anyone foresee better future support in Windows7 for Firewire800?
I like the snippet tool, about time, wish there was a key shortcut, similar to OS X -
Anyway, I see in device driver that FIREWIRE sets up fine (TEXAS INSTRUMENTS) on my INTEL motherboard, but the device, high end Mackie firewire device, does not work.
Installed the MACKIE ASIO driver and nothing, not even a POP UP saying NEW DEVICE found.
This is a shame if this turns out to be true as the lack of Vista driver (more than one year after Vista came out), made me go to a Mac for the past year.
Was hoping the vista driver would work, especially since it's a standard ASIO audio driver for Vista.
I bought a two new firewire cards for two desktops as I transfer quite a bit of media between them regularly...When I connected them, they showed up in the device manager, however there is no network being created, so I can't start a transfer..I have searched and searched but I can't find any good info on how to create a firewire network within windows 7! I may be way off here, or missing a trick, but I need some information.
I was wondering if there is a firewire card for windows 7 and what the number is of it and where I can find one. Need it to download video from JVC camcotder.
Few weeks ago I bought an external audio interface Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP. It's a firewire hardware and while using it I ocasionally get BSOD. Tried using it with both enabled and disabled onboard realtek chip but that does not solve the problem. I installed the newest software/drivers provided by Focusrite but the problem still exists.OS: Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU: Phenom II X4 945Motherboard: ASUS M4A89GTD-PRO/USB3 Memory: 2x2GB GoodRAM 1333MHz Graphics: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 560 Ti Sound Card: Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster BX2240 Resolution: 1920x1080Hard Drives: Western Digital:WD3200YSWD20EARSWD6400AACS PSU: Chieftec GPS-650A Case: Fractal Design Define R3 Mouse: Logitech G700
I'm having a problem when I connect or disconnect my firewire cable I get a BSOD. I'm not sure what to do. I think I have the latest drivers for firewire.
Canon camera has firewire port but computer only has USB. Is there a cable that has firewire connection on one end for the camera connection and a USB connection for the computer?
I have a HP built box that I purchased less than a year ago. The hard drive died, along with the motherboard.I purchased a new hard drive and the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and had the shop replace the MB, Install the new hard drive and O/S.The motherboard is an ASUS M4A785-M, with an on-board Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (according to Windows Device Manager).I have a couple of additional cards installed, one is an eSata controller for an external hard drive and the other is a SIIG DP FireWire 800 3-Port PCIe card.I initially installed the SIIG because the FireWire chip set is Texas Instruments, because I have a PreSonus Firestudio Mobile (sound card, recording hardware)and it only plays nicely with Texas Instruments. The SIIG card shows up in Device Manager under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers as "Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller", which I "assume" is correct?
My problem is the PreSonus hardware refuses show up in Device Manager or initialize (there is an indicator light on the front of the unit that will glow blue when it is connected or flash blue-red when it isn't). PreSonus has a driver set for the Firestudio Mobile, that is called Universal Control.I have attempted to install Universal Control several times, but each attempt has resulted in failure, with the Driver version showing 0.0.0 etc. I realize this is the problem, but I have no idea how to force the issue. If I could get the PreSonus drivers to install, I would be home free (I think).he PreSonus hardware should show up in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers, but it doesn't.I have also posted about the issue on the PreSonus forum, but haven't had any solutions posted. This computer and the hardware are what I use to run my Recording Studio and without the Firestudio, I am effectively out of business.I should also note, that I haven't even installed any other software beyond windows 7, other than a couple of utilities. Not even my DAW or the drivers for my peripheral midi devices.
I have a new computer running Windows 7. It is functioning well, apart from the firewire card not being recognized. Pages on the web offering advice on this kind of problems start their solutions with going to the device manager and expanding the "IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers" node in the device tree. Only I don't have such a node. How can I get the "IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers" node to appear in the device manager?
My motherboard doesn't have firewire, and for the life of me i can't find a single expansion card that has an internal pinout that I can connect the cable for my front firewire port to. The closest I found was not low-profile compatible.and this is for the computer in my description, but on monday I'm switching out the case for a low profile hec 7K09 HTPC case.
have an older dv camera (JVC GR-DVL820EA) and would like to run it on py dual core pc with windows 7 professional. I installed my video editing software and a new firewire card and when booted it up said it couldn't install driver. Later on it said that this version of windows doesn't support firewire.
I just realized that stereo output is inverted (L&R are swapped) on my Realtek front panel headphones connector and on my M-Audio Firewire card. Output is OK on Realtek rear main/front speakers connector.
I have a Dell Vostro 3450 and want to connect to a Maxtor external hard drive with a 1394 firewire connection. What kind of adapter should I be looking for?
