Computer Clock Keeps Resetting Back To Earlier Date
Dec 13, 2012
my OS is Windows 7 64-bit. Lately, whenever I start my laptop, the computer clock at the bottom right hand side keep resetting back to 10th January 2008. Also if I do an immediate restart, this problem does not occur. I have to then manually change the computer clock.
The problem I am having is that whenever I log onto my computer, I can see that the date and time at the bottom right of the screen always seems to reset to 31/12/2006. I always try to fix this by going to the option where you can synchronise the date and time with the Windows server time, however, this doesn't always seem to work.Another problem I am encountering is that the computer itself seems to be cutting out at different times, for example I could be 98% complete into a full system scan with Kaspersky 2012, but the computer suddenly cuts out, this would also be the case when browsing the internet or completing some Word documents. One other thing to mention as well is that since these problems have occurred, whenever I turn on my computer, I never have to press the power button on, as it seems to turn itself on whenever I switch the power supply on. This is also not normal.
I got this sexy pc my man built me less than a year ago and it's been working fine (or maybe I haven't noticed before) but in the past few months the clock is resetting every time[i] I reboot. It seems to lose time over a couple hours of just being turned on as well. It's a very stealthy process so I haven't actually seen it do it, but all of a sudden I'll be late for work again, and blaming my pc has become a lame excuse. I've read topics on this, my motherboard battery is dead, but it's not only on reboots as it happens every day and I barely ever turn it off. Anyway. If it is the mb battery, how do I find this out? It's my gaming pc if that matters in any way and my motherboard is the hot Sabertooth x58. I'm running windows 7 ultimate.
My computer stopped booting and only displays a black screen with a blinking white cursor on start up. I've used a recovery disk to attempt to restore windows back to an earlier point in time. While the restoration completed smoothly I still can't boot. I've also tried the startup repair wizard and it doesn't find any problems.
I am running Windows 7 premium. The taskbar/notification/clock area @ the bottom of my desktop is huge, like nearly an inch. The Time, Day and Date are one below the other. This takes up so much space especially when u have multiple toolbars, address bar etc @ the top not 2 mention the additional loss of space (of nothingness) @ the top. Leaves less working space than I'm happy with. How do I gain back the use of that half inch in the taskbar? Is it possible 2 gain back the lost area @ the top as well?.I have already gone to Properties and changed the settings there (use small icons). It made no difference at all.
When I change my date and clock settings it appears my windows shell common dll stop working. But when I connect to the internet for solving the problems nothing changed even I do it many times.
It was there, over on the far right of the taskbar, together with the date, then somehow I removed it from the task bar, but now want to get it back. How to do that?
A few months ago I did a fresh install of Windows 7, I went from 32 bit to 64 bit. Since then every once in a while I notice that my clock is 2 hours off, I am in central time and when it loses time it loses 2 hours.
I would normally think if I am losing time it is my CMOS battery but it's not like I am losing time, like 23 minutes or an hour and 5 minutes, it is always 2 hours exactly when it happens.
As of last night when I click on Internet Explorer none of my Home Page Tabs show up anymore, well they do but it says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" I have two bars so I don't understand whats going on. If I type in another webpage in the search engine it then takes me to the webpage but then I wind up getting kicked of once again. HELP !!! This all started when I clicked on the tool bar in the top right corner, went down to Internet options, clicked on the Advanced Tab,then clicked reset Internet Explorer settings. I have tried Restoring my computer,"Control Panel",then under "System and Security" I went to 'Review your computers status',then all the way at the bottom "Recovery" then when I Choose a Restore point "I chose two different restore points and both times it tells me "
I recently got a used computer from a friend and I have discovered that the clock is always set to 2009-08-07. The clock cycles from 4:02 AM- 5:02 AM and it resets itself. If I try to change it then the computer becomes very slow and laggy, however, the mouse is not. I have run my anti virus to see if it is a virus but there was none detected. I suspect it might be something to do with my motherboard.

I have desktop that is less than 2 years old and it is having two problems: First, if I step away from the computer for a few minutes and come back to the computer, the screen is black and none of the keys will wake up the monitor. Also, I am unable to turn off the tower, even when holding down the button for 10 seconds. The only way to turn it off is to unplug the tower. When I plug it back in, I get everything back on the screen just like it was before I walked away.
The other problem is that the system clock will not keep time. This just happened a week or so ago. Whenever I manually update the sync, it resets, but won't keep time for long. From reading other posts on this forum, it seems that the CMOS battery may be an issue. Since the computer isn't that old and isn't used constantly, does that still seem reasonable? Is that normally covered under a warranty? I have never had a problem with other computers.
I have an HP All-in-One Pvilion desktop and it has been returned on more than one occasion. When I turn the computer on, the date is 2008. What can I do to halt this?
when I edit a text in Windows 7 .txt format, is there a hidden header that registers other info like the name of the computer, date, etc? If yes, how can I see it?
Have set the correct time zone, set the date and time, and within half an hour, the time jumps ahead significantly. Time then continues jumping periodically, and date as well. Any patch available for this?
I have this problem for a few months, but never thought of solving it till now. I run windows 7, but I decided to install XP along with Windows 7, so now I have 2 operating systems; I had many problems with XP so I decided to re-install windows 7 (custom installation), so the XP is no longer present.
But now every time I start my PC this screen appears: How can I stop this screen from appearing?
After having trouble with broadband issues after upgrading, I thought it could be a settings problem so did a system restore to undo anything I had done. But it has been going for around an hour and a half and is stuck on the initializing stage for ages. Just wondering how long it should take, getting slightly worried? Is there any safe way to get out of it if it is stuck? If so I probably will find a different way around it. Don't want to be breaking my laptop.
i had windows 7 beta version installed on my C: drive earlier later i installed the full version on drive f: as the windows on C: got corrupted....but now i want to format the drive C:i was able to delete the files like windows program files, etc by taking the ownership from trustedInstaller and blah blah ...but when i try to take the ownership of the drive C...it is unsuccessful.i tried formatting using cmd etc etc all.it is of no use my DVD drive is defective too so i cant boot from a cd like in xp setup and delete the files + on trying to boot from USB..it seems my PC gets hung so what shall i do now? any help would be appriciated ... it is using almost 5 GB of my space ( i guess the space is what OS installs itself into) ....this 5 gb can be put into much useful processes.
I like to use my mouse on the left side even though I'm a rightie, so I have the primary buttons switched. Unfortunately, Windows 7 loads that config almost at the end of the boot up process, which of course is annoying if you're trying to click on a few things while the boot finishes (and not knowing which button to use
My computer has been doing this for awhile...I've had it for over 4 years and it works fine but it seems like lately my computer will freeze for a second and then it makes a suddle click sound then it comes back...Computer is not making loud noises or anything but when it freezes it sounds like it is switching gears before it works like normal again.Someone told me Memory issue and I have Memtest but not sure how to use the ISO.

When I try to start back from the last time it was ok, don't work either. I tried downloading something named AVG rescue cd and it doesn't seem to work either....my computer doesn't seem to wanna read CD's or DVD's.
dont have a clue, trying to get files from back up discs on my computer, after having to reset back to like new.lost everything, but have back up discs, just dont know how to do it
so everytime I log-in to my computer it basically restores back to a certian point. And also It starts as a black screen with nothing except for my mouse until I open Task manager and run explorer.exe which for some reason doesnt run on its own anymore. Its probably due to the fact that I wanted to put a cool theme on my computer and that involves replacing the explorer.exe file and explorerframe.dll file, and I did that. But then I decided I didn't need a theme so I put the original Explorer.exe and explorerframe.dll back on to replace the ones I put on before. It changed everything back to normal except for the start orb. I wanted the old start back or atleast a new one. So I got windows Start orb changer. It worked well for some time until at one point everytime I turned on my computer I got an error saying expstart.exe failed and something about bitmaps. and It just black screens until I run explorer.exe from the task manager...and goes back a day or so
