How To Get Clock Back On Taskbar
Dec 17, 2009It was there, over on the far right of the taskbar, together with the date, then somehow I removed it from the task bar, but now want to get it back. How to do that?

View 4 RepliesA few months ago I did a fresh install of Windows 7, I went from 32 bit to 64 bit. Since then every once in a while I notice that my clock is 2 hours off, I am in central time and when it loses time it loses 2 hours.
I would normally think if I am losing time it is my CMOS battery but it's not like I am losing time, like 23 minutes or an hour and 5 minutes, it is always 2 hours exactly when it happens.
I just installed Windows 7 RC Build 7100 32-bit version on 2 brand new right out of the box Dell Optiplex 960. This was a fresh install not an upgrade. The setup ran just fine. Windows boots up and runs but is sluggish and sometimes I have to wait for things to open. Such as running solitaire it is slow to deal the cards and even stops briefly.I also tried the 64-bit version but receive an error during the boot from DVD. Status 0xC00000e9. Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred. The cpu and memory usage are not high at all. I have also noticed that the time on the taskbar is running very slow. It takes about 45-50 seconds for one second of time to pass.I am wondering if maybe there is a driver issue with the machines. I have installed the Windows 7 video driver from the ATI site. I am not sure where to find a chipset driver for this computer. There are no red X's or other problems in the device manager.
Computer specs.
Optiplex 960 Minitower
Core 2 Quad Processor Q9650 (3.0GHz, 12M, 1333MHz FSB)
4GB DDR2 Non-ECC SDRam 800MHz
256MB ATI Radeon HD 3450
320GB HD
I cannot see the date when hovering over the clock in the task bar.
I see a very brief flash of what could be the date only.
Prior to Windows 7 64bit my other computer used XP 32bit. The clock was always off by several hours and it seemed like time wasnt being kept when the computer was off and the time was very slow when it was on. I read that it was due to a coin battery that was basically shutting off. I didnt really pay attention to it cause i dont need the time to be correct on it and aside from that and a clicking harddrive, the computer would run fine.Since the harddrive was clicky, i ended up buying another harddrive and tossing the old one. I installed Windows 7 64bit on it and to my surprise going on for atleast a month now, the time was correct. When id turn off the computer for the night and power it on in the morning the time was correct. All this time i thought it was the battery but nope everything worked fine. The time was always correct no matter what. Now the problem. About 2 days ago the power turned off suddenly due to someone plugging in a heater. The heater basically shuts down the house when everyone has things powered on (tv, entertainment centers, computers etc). After that power outage the computer reverted back to its old problem. From that moment on, the clock on the bottom right is once again behind. The time after turn off does not save and now for some reason the internet on that PC disconnects randomly on its own unless i actually go in the control panel and disable and reenable the adapter. A rundown below on whats going on...
- Clock is slow. Its 7am while the clock would read something like 2pm.
- Internet disconnects randomly and must be re-enabled in the control panel.
- The adapter is sometimes stuck in an Indentifying Network infinite loop.
- NOTHING was changed in terms of hardware, only thing different is the harddrive.
This is a PC not a laptop. I cannot figure out whats going on with this, all the proper services are started too. The PC does connect to a router which also connects to the PC im using now and as of now, my net works fine just not on the other PC.
my OS is Windows 7 64-bit. Lately, whenever I start my laptop, the computer clock at the bottom right hand side keep resetting back to 10th January 2008. Also if I do an immediate restart, this problem does not occur. I have to then manually change the computer clock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLately my bottom right display on the task bar is disappearing. This includes the clock, and all system tray icons. All I have to do is open the task bar properties and click OK and then it comes back. This does not happen after a reboot, it just happens suddenly for no reason, and a couple times a week.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo about a month ago I restarted my computer and when it came back on all my programs pinned to my task bar and everything that was in my start menu was gone. From there I could not unlock the taskbar and nothing would pin in either the start menu or taskbar. I researched everywhere about it. I tried unlocking the taskbar in properties and registry with no luck. I finally found some posts about how my user profile was corrupt and from there I went on and made a new profile and copied everything and BOOM it all worked fine now. Well today it happened AGAIN! I restarted my computer and everything disappeared. So I think it is still a corrupt profile, but this is the second time it has happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a client that has laptop with windows 7 Pro. He had a faulty network card, so I have added a new, usb network card. That said, He can not pin anything to taskbar or start menu. I cleared both folders of shortcuts(567 of them) but to no avail. He also has no options under his desktop Context menu for New. He is also using a roaming profile, of which I will disable next time I am there. I have a feeling that might be the issue. I did scour the internet trying all the usual suggestions, but do vaguely remember something about an entry in cache somewhere that if it is too big or corrupt, it could cause this behavior. I am unable to find that post anywhere now.I mention the network card because one post had taskbar issues until he disabled his faulty network card. I have disabled the faulty network card.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got a used computer from a friend and I have discovered that the clock is always set to 2009-08-07. The clock cycles from 4:02 AM- 5:02 AM and it resets itself. If I try to change it then the computer becomes very slow and laggy, however, the mouse is not. I have run my anti virus to see if it is a virus but there was none detected. I suspect it might be something to do with my motherboard.

My clock stops "staying on top" after a couple hours after every time I boot. Since my taskbar is set to disappear, I like having a clock readily visible. Is this because I'm using a third party gadget, or is there a fix for this?

it will change to a random date and time very regular.I will sync the clock but it will change again....can i stop this?
the one that displays on the lower task bar, right hand side, and see if it (now) displays the correct GMT (same as UTC) ? Since the start of the New Year, mine displays the wrong GMT, even though I'm pretty sure it is all set up correctly. Can't seem to get it to display correctly.
It used to.
I have the clock set to notify me when clock changes, and it always has a note as to when a change is scheduled for savings time, but it never notifies me nor changes the time on it's own. I always have to reset it myself and that is usually after the time confuses me enough for me to check the actual time.
How do I get it to reset automatically?
I'm interested to know whether its possible to disable the system clock? We all know applications and websites can get access to our time zone, etc. I often use anonymous browser clients such as TOR & JonDo to protect my online privacy. For example, I might be set an IP address in Russia, but live in America. The thing is - websites can still access our time zone on the computer so they will I'm not in Russia but actually in xxxx state in America. I don't want to change the time to something random as I've heard this can destabilize the computer and its applications. So is it possible to disable it? If not - is there a browser configuration to block access to it? I did attempt running it under Sandboxie but that doesn't work either.
