View 6 RepliesI am running Windows 7 (Premium Home), on a dell Inspirion 15.attempted to create a scheduled task (and i am used to doing this in Windows XP) and I can not seem to make it work for me.I created a task; and simply put the file (.mp3) in the "Program/Script" box. It plays the file fine, but it is doing so as a "ghost task" as i've come to call it.
The File is played, but WMP is not opened, and a task is not created in the Task Manager. Sadly, it is also looping and i am muting it under the SoundMixer as "unavailable name".
Attempted to fix this by starts Wmp.exe, and using an argument ("C://&&&&/&.Mp3") to give some direction. But no cigar (Event Id 203 &103 [failure to start, failure to run])
I then just simply copied the argument and placed it into the "Start In" box. (with a bit of prayer to get rid of the looping that i must REBOOT to get rid of)So i have used the MP3 without WMP, And attempted to run it THROUGH WMP and have had no luck.
I have a HP XW8400, Win 7 x64 Ultimate, 8G Fully Buffered memory.Per instructions of my "computer guy", I leave the computer on almost always. I was awaken at 4AM by the "alarm" on the computer, and a black screen with error codes 922, 923 and 927. See attached picture. Having experienced this error before (maybe a year ago) I shut the computer down, carefully cleaned the contacts on the video card, card reader and memory. I also removed the Hauppauge WinTV 1600 card, as I hadn't used that accessory in years.Since reboot, the computer would run fine for about an hour or so, then it would freeze up, accepting no input from keyboard. A few seconds later mouse input would not be accepted, and then the BSOD with error code 0x000000F4. This procedure went on three or four times, but I was able to do some work in the meantime. My computer tech called back and said I should try a system restore. I did that, but now I am unable to boot at all. I tried several times, one time getting a BSOD - type screen, but the characters were unintelligible. It was acting as if someone had shrunk a screen full of type horizontally, "squishing" the letters. As my computer tech is unavailable, I need to attempt to fix the problem myself, as I use this computer about 12 hours or more daily.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been wondering if Windows 7 has capabilities to trigger sound alarm when the network connection icon in the bottom right corner changes due to internet/network disconnection. I guess, in theory, Task Scheduler should come in handy, but first, the correct Event ID for the above-mentioned change needs to be determined. I couldn't find it yet. I found a standalone program NetSNSOR that can trigger alarm. However, a built-in process would be more useful.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently under seige from Sandy and my sump pump reservoirs are filling up with water. Fortunately, I still have my power, but I was hoping I could find an alarm that would sound whenever my Laptop switches from AC power to the battery power. When the power goes out I need to immediately run outside and fire up the generator so my basement doesn't flood... and without an alarm, I'll sleep right through the power going out. But, I'm tired. I have a toddler that wore my ass out today... and I can't stay up all night. So, I'm hoping to get some sleep before I lose power. That's why I need this.

I'm interested to know whether its possible to disable the system clock? We all know applications and websites can get access to our time zone, etc. I often use anonymous browser clients such as TOR & JonDo to protect my online privacy. For example, I might be set an IP address in Russia, but live in America. The thing is - websites can still access our time zone on the computer so they will I'm not in Russia but actually in xxxx state in America. I don't want to change the time to something random as I've heard this can destabilize the computer and its applications. So is it possible to disable it? If not - is there a browser configuration to block access to it? I did attempt running it under Sandboxie but that doesn't work either.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 professional service pack 1 installed on my computer. I found that the clock time does not set to new time even if I change it, after a minute or to it automatically reverts back to false settings. I tried changing it by clicking the clock time on the right bottom corner and changed it to current time. In internet time tab of change time and date setting window, it is set to time.windows.com. Is there anything I could do to set it right? What is the reason of this behaviour?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my wife's laptop (i3 350 cpu) running Windows 7HP (Sp1 - UK ver.) The second hand on the gadget clock jerks around. It jumps between about 5 and 10 seconds at a time. I have run Norton & Malwarebytes' scans; replaced gadget settings; reloaded the clock; etc. but all to no avail. The whole process of adding and adjusting Gadgets appears to take longer than it should. At one stage gadgets were using the whole of one core! It appears that something in the background is slowing the gadgets up. I have gone into the Control Panel "Date & Time" and the second hand on the clock there works perfectly.

I got this sexy pc my man built me less than a year ago and it's been working fine (or maybe I haven't noticed before) but in the past few months the clock is resetting every time[i] I reboot. It seems to lose time over a couple hours of just being turned on as well. It's a very stealthy process so I haven't actually seen it do it, but all of a sudden I'll be late for work again, and blaming my pc has become a lame excuse. I've read topics on this, my motherboard battery is dead, but it's not only on reboots as it happens every day and I barely ever turn it off. Anyway. If it is the mb battery, how do I find this out? It's my gaming pc if that matters in any way and my motherboard is the hot Sabertooth x58. I'm running windows 7 ultimate.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got a serious problem about Windows7 Gadgets. I lose all gadgets including the original clock and cpu meters. If I try to launch sidebar.exe, it will appear as shown in picture. If I close this window, sidebar.exe will be terminated as well. I've tried deleting the gadget cache but it seems not working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 premium. The taskbar/notification/clock area @ the bottom of my desktop is huge, like nearly an inch. The Time, Day and Date are one below the other. This takes up so much space especially when u have multiple toolbars, address bar etc @ the top not 2 mention the additional loss of space (of nothingness) @ the top. Leaves less working space than I'm happy with. How do I gain back the use of that half inch in the taskbar? Is it possible 2 gain back the lost area @ the top as well?.I have already gone to Properties and changed the settings there (use small icons). It made no difference at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a used computer from a friend and I have discovered that the clock is always set to 2009-08-07. The clock cycles from 4:02 AM- 5:02 AM and it resets itself. If I try to change it then the computer becomes very slow and laggy, however, the mouse is not. I have run my anti virus to see if it is a virus but there was none detected. I suspect it might be something to do with my motherboard.

My clock stops "staying on top" after a couple hours after every time I boot. Since my taskbar is set to disappear, I like having a clock readily visible. Is this because I'm using a third party gadget, or is there a fix for this?

It used to.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the clock set to notify me when clock changes, and it always has a note as to when a change is scheduled for savings time, but it never notifies me nor changes the time on it's own. I always have to reset it myself and that is usually after the time confuses me enough for me to check the actual time.
How do I get it to reset automatically?
My PC clock is drifting and I need to have it in synch with real time. Otherwise, I go 2 or 3 second off after 1 hour
Any know automatic tool to be run in the background?
