Second Hand On Windows 7 Gadget Clock Jerks Around?
Nov 5, 2011
On my wife's laptop (i3 350 cpu) running Windows 7HP (Sp1 - UK ver.) The second hand on the gadget clock jerks around. It jumps between about 5 and 10 seconds at a time. I have run Norton & Malwarebytes' scans; replaced gadget settings; reloaded the clock; etc. but all to no avail. The whole process of adding and adjusting Gadgets appears to take longer than it should. At one stage gadgets were using the whole of one core! It appears that something in the background is slowing the gadgets up. I have gone into the Control Panel "Date & Time" and the second hand on the clock there works perfectly.
i recently installed windows 7 ultimate 32bit on my laptop and i love it to bits, but theres just one fallback thats making me want to change back to XP, and that is the sound problem, what the problem is that, when im playing counter Strike 1.6 online, and a grenade goes of, or lots of gun fire, the game jerks and twitches, and low FPS drop and ping spikes and allsorts of rubish
this is what iv done so far
1st.. laptop spec
model: toshiba equium m40x-148
CPU: intel pentium M processor 1.60GHz
RAM: 1.5gig 333
Hard Disk: 80 gig HD 4500RPM
GPU: ATI M Radeon x300 64mb PCIE
Sound drivers: Realtek AC97
(runs windows 7 like XP did, so no problem with performence of windows 7)
the first thing i did was disable that MMCSS thing in regedit.. then i read up some more on here, and found its best to leave that enabled and stop the other thing that helps online gaming.. that worked worked fine.. that stopped the high lag i was having.. but now im getting this annoying sound problem.. if i disable my sound card in device maneger..
the game runs smoooooth as a babys bottom, if i enable it.. i get this glichy/fps drop/lag/spikes and so on, i uninstalled it, reinstalled it, worked fine for 5 mins, then stated again, does anyone have any solution to this, becos if i cant get this fixed, then ill be going back to XP... im a big gamer when it comes to CS and i need it to run smooth, and atm, its just a nightmare when trying to aim.
I've noticed that my Logitech optical mouse jerks when my Western Digital Essentials external harddrive is connected to my Bufallo USB3 PCI board (IFC-PCIE2U3). I've updated the board's firmware and driver. I'm using Windows 7 64bit. The optical mouse is connected to a separate USB2 motherboard port.

Is there a windows 7 gadget for controlling the display time out?
Getting tired of going right click > personalize > Screen Saver > Change Power Settings > Change Plan Settings > Then changing my screen time out from 10 minutes to x amount of time for watching movies.
If you know of any and can provide a link I would be much obliged.
I've reformatted my system an lost the only gadget I ever liked
I installed it from another site but unable to find it again, it's similar to the multimeter but there are more readings and it came without any need to modify or customize, there are image icons down the left side, CPU, RAM, disk drives etc... with meters by the side and there's even one for the bin that turns red when there's anything in.
It even had a radio button where it would I Imagine lock in to regional radio stations.
I have just moved from Beta to RC and while it looked like everything is OK, I'm having this strange problem where my Weatherbug and XM gadgets will not work UNLESS I connect to a VPN. I have disabled the firewall, purged the DNS cache, disabled / re-enabled the NICs, but the problem remains. I have tried this on multiple networks on both my Ethernet and wireless connections (Dell D630 notebook) and get the same result. Any ideas? I'm not even sure where to start looking!
One more thing: I did perform an upgrade install from Beta x64 to RC x64 instead of the "demanded" clean install.
When I turn on the screen of my PC I get weird shapes all over the screen. Some of them are coloured, some are grey but they appear on all programmes, including a Word blank page and the desktop page. Some of them flash, some of them change shape, ut they are all pixel shaped within the boxes. There are also some strange 'squiggly' marks on the screen. When I opened Windows mail, the left hand side of the screen was completely black and it didn't show any of my messages. As I'm typing this message, I've got grey boxes which change shape as I type and it's covering some of the text.
I have 6 PCs which I got off a friend who wound up his business. The machines are set up to logon to the old now none existent domain. When I switch on the machines the typical set up is this
CS-PC08 password:
I have no passwords, Switch user, none available, I do have an option to log on to another domain.
To Logon to another domain enter domainuser
To Logon locally it says, enter CS-PC08local user name
I have no password or user names.I cannot boot in safe mode or in safe mode with command prompt without encountering a logon screen.I have downloaded Password Unlocker and whilst this allows me to change passwords and add users I still get the same logon screen and none of my new user names or changed passwords help.I have no disks so cant do a reinstall.
I need to down load my Sony Hand cam to Windows ultimate 7 so that I can email video clips, but I can't find the right software or drivers. The handy cam come up when I connect using the USB but it wont show the video clips just the pictures
#1 - - - My 10 key button area isn't operational & the "NUM LOCK" button doesn't seem to help.
#2 - - - I have a password & a fingerprint reader that I can use either way, to access my PC. Quite recently, I burned all five of my R hand digits used to ID myself to the machine. How would I delete these fingerprints & replace them with all five of my L hand fingers?
i have just finished a remote assist with Microsoft to try to resolve a problem i am having with my win 7 os. It appears from my trolling the forums that it is not an uncommon scenario. As i use my machine i see the memory monitor gadget showing more and more usaage of ram until finally i get a "not enough resources to run application" prompt.
The guy from microsoft cleared my cookies, my prefetch files, google toolbar etc without effect. He suggested that some of my optimising utilities could be the problem until i explained that i had installed the to try to CURE the problem. He finally cleared off without saying anymore and i was left a link if i wanted to resume the chat support. This link didn't work. Any comments would be great.
My daughter was using my MSI laptop and when she tried to start the computer all that came up was a black screen with the cursor in the upper left corner. She selected the restore option which came up because the other options would not do anything. Is there any possible way to recover my files, pics, etc. or is it just gone now?
I've searched around for several weeks for a solution to this problem and have not yet found a solution that works for me...
I am running Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) on an extremely capable PC, but now, every time I start the machine up I get a completely black screen with cursor, and in the bottom right hand corner is the watermark,
"Windows 7100
This copy of Windows is not genuine."
I believe I know what caused this. When I first got the RC, I downloaded one of those patches that removes the watermark (Yes, I know I was stupid and shouldn't have ) and for awhile, everything worked fine. Then I found the above watermark sitting regularly on my desktop, as well as some "This copy of windows not genuine" Pop-ups from MS, so I clicked on resolve, and the MS website just said something to the tune of "This Windows OS is not yet supported" or something like that.
So I didn't pursue the problem any further. Now, every once in a blue moon it will let me access the desktop. When it does, everything is extremely slow, I can't use command prompt, and when I open control panel to look at my CD Key or to check that it is activated, in the spot where my CD Key should be, instead there is just this: ---
Sooo, I need to know how to re-activate Windows so I can actually use the computer again. Also, I can give any information you guys need. I really hope I can get this resolved soon, it has just been such a hassle.
