Jun 30, 2011My daughter was using my MSI laptop and when she tried to start the computer all that came up was a black screen with the cursor in the upper left corner. She selected the restore option which came up because the other options would not do anything. Is there any possible way to recover my files, pics, etc. or is it just gone now?

Aug 3, 2009I've searched around for several weeks for a solution to this problem and have not yet found a solution that works for me...
I am running Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) on an extremely capable PC, but now, every time I start the machine up I get a completely black screen with cursor, and in the bottom right hand corner is the watermark,
"Windows 7100
This copy of Windows is not genuine."
I believe I know what caused this. When I first got the RC, I downloaded one of those patches that removes the watermark (Yes, I know I was stupid and shouldn't have ) and for awhile, everything worked fine. Then I found the above watermark sitting regularly on my desktop, as well as some "This copy of windows not genuine" Pop-ups from MS, so I clicked on resolve, and the MS website just said something to the tune of "This Windows OS is not yet supported" or something like that.
So I didn't pursue the problem any further. Now, every once in a blue moon it will let me access the desktop. When it does, everything is extremely slow, I can't use command prompt, and when I open control panel to look at my CD Key or to check that it is activated, in the spot where my CD Key should be, instead there is just this: ---
Sooo, I need to know how to re-activate Windows so I can actually use the computer again. Also, I can give any information you guys need. I really hope I can get this resolved soon, it has just been such a hassle.

Oct 7, 2012When I turn on the screen of my PC I get weird shapes all over the screen. Some of them are coloured, some are grey but they appear on all programmes, including a Word blank page and the desktop page. Some of them flash, some of them change shape, ut they are all pixel shaped within the boxes. There are also some strange 'squiggly' marks on the screen. When I opened Windows mail, the left hand side of the screen was completely black and it didn't show any of my messages. As I'm typing this message, I've got grey boxes which change shape as I type and it's covering some of the text.

Feb 5, 2011I recently had my laptop crash on me, I recently returned from Iraq and lost all of my recovery disks for vista, so I decided to upgrade to windows 7. I purchased an oem install, and got win7 installed and working, but it decided to stop working for me. When I try to start windows normally the computer reboots until I choose to do a startup repair, when I choose startup repair it "loads", I see the activity bar, and then it goes away and I end up with a black screen and pointer. I haven't really gotten anything installed that I can't reinstall, so I tried to reinstall win7 and end up with the same as if I try startup repair, I get nowhere.

Aug 24, 2011I'm having problems with my laptop on which I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I boot into the system but, after the loading logo,a black screen appears with just the mouse pointer/cursor; I can move it.It stay like that for a little and then the notebook reboots itselfs with no error or BSOD (even if I "disable the rebook on crash" using F8 at boot).One day I found my PC freezed (after an Ubuntu hibernate) and I had to force the power off.Trying to boot grub gave me errors: so I thought of a partition/disk error. With GParted I had problem loading the partitions, so with other tools I deleted the Ubuntu partition.Now I have no partition problem, but Windows 7 continue to not load and reboot.
- So I tried the "Last known good configuration". Same result.
- Safe Mode do the same.
- I cannot load anything nor do CTRL+ALT+CANC to try to load explorer. It seems to stuck before Winlogon.

Sep 13, 2011Today i noticed that after my windows 7 logon screen i get a black screen with only my mouse pointer on it. i already tried restoring to a day before the problem but same thing happenswhat can i do to fix it? seems to me that the problem started after i installed hotspot-shield i guess it cameout with some driver installer but i dont know which onesi waited on the black screen and it seems to start windows after 10 mins which is way longer than usual and thats my problem its anoying. what else can i do? i already did the restoring point process. and start up restore, and memory disk checkup.

Dec 29, 2009Recently my computer has not been loading windows 7 up intill the login screen. I get to see the little circle color things swirl around with the "Loading Windows" text, but were the login screen usually appears, I get a totally black screen with a movable mouse pointer. It is a brand new rig with 4g RAM (2g sticks) and I am running the 64 bit version but wounder if this is causing the problem.
Also when I try to do a system restore using the windows disc, I must first go into the settings (by pressing DEL on start up), then set my bay drive to boot first rather then my SATA to get the "Press any button to boot from disc... " prompt. Otherwise windows will ignore the disc. However when I load the disc and try to go into restore points, there are none to choose from.... I have no clue what to do and am willing to just install windows complelty again ext.

Tried my win 7 upgrade CD to see if I could repair and it only loads to the same end. No options are asked for.The blue screen has appeared a couple of times and states a unusable boot sector. It also does it during certain times during gaming, where I discovered the problem. For example, it didn't do this when I was placing a turret gun, during the game, but, did so when I tried to make the turret face a certain way and I could only make it face one way. Apr 21, 2010I'm having a problem with this laptop after changing out the ram. It's a Lenovo 3000n100, running Windows 7 32bit. ( I upgraded from Vista.)
It originally came with 1GB ram, I increased it to 2 GB. It shows in the bios as 2 and also in belarc.
After changing out the ram, about every other time I start it up, when it gets to the logon screen, the pointer is frozen. I can log in, and on the desktop it's also frozen, so I have to use the win key and arrows to restart then it starts up normally. Once in a while, when it get to the logon screen, it's just black and then I have to do a hard shut down.
I changed the ram sticks around, made sure they are seated properly and I still have this problem.
Before buying the ram, I ran the crucial advisor and bought [URL] Crucial 2GB Set(2x1GB) 200-Pin PC2 5300 667Mhz SODIMM DDR2 RAM: Electronics IRC, I didn't have this problem with the original ram 512x2. Not even sure if it's a ram problem or not, but I haven't been able to figure out what's going on.
I have also checked the intel drivers and they are up to date.

Jan 6, 2010I recently purchased Windows 7 and was trying to boot from the disc to do a clean installation, but every time I do this a blank Windows 7 screen appears with a mouse pointer. There are no options or anywhere to click. It just stays on the Windows 7 screen.
I've tried multiple discs (32bit, 64bit and even my friend's copy)

Aug 26, 2011I have run into a problem I haven't seen before on a HP desktop running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The users reported that when they open a window, ~30 instances of the window open at once. The error is intermittent, but since they shut down the PC after each use it may come and go with each boot. I looked at the machine and it functioned fine after several reboots, but eventually I was able to see some strange results. I didn't see the multiple windows open, but I did have some input issues. The mouse pointer would jump all over the screen and applications would open that were never clicked. The right click did not function correctly. Sometimes the context menu would flash on and off and sometimes nothing. I tried an alternate mouse and using a different USB port with identical results. I have run virus scans, malware scans and a registry scan, but no dice.
