Mouse Pointer Jumps On The Screen And The Right-click Not Functioning?
Aug 26, 2011
I have run into a problem I haven't seen before on a HP desktop running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The users reported that when they open a window, ~30 instances of the window open at once. The error is intermittent, but since they shut down the PC after each use it may come and go with each boot. I looked at the machine and it functioned fine after several reboots, but eventually I was able to see some strange results. I didn't see the multiple windows open, but I did have some input issues. The mouse pointer would jump all over the screen and applications would open that were never clicked. The right click did not function correctly. Sometimes the context menu would flash on and off and sometimes nothing. I tried an alternate mouse and using a different USB port with identical results. I have run virus scans, malware scans and a registry scan, but no dice.
I've had this problem with my mouse since I upgraded to windows 7. Whenever I'm playing a game, or anything fullscreen and I right click or click the middle mouse button, the cursor jumps across my screen, sometimes down or to the left. and sometimes, both.
Touch pad on laptopHoovering over an item opens it.What happened to double click.I have restored defaults in folder options, mouse propertiesand ease of accsess center.External mouse via usb port works perfect?
Today i noticed that after my windows 7 logon screen i get a black screen with only my mouse pointer on it. i already tried restoring to a day before the problem but same thing happenswhat can i do to fix it? seems to me that the problem started after i installed hotspot-shield i guess it cameout with some driver installer but i dont know which onesi waited on the black screen and it seems to start windows after 10 mins which is way longer than usual and thats my problem its anoying. what else can i do? i already did the restoring point process. and start up restore, and memory disk checkup.
Recently my computer has not been loading windows 7 up intill the login screen. I get to see the little circle color things swirl around with the "Loading Windows" text, but were the login screen usually appears, I get a totally black screen with a movable mouse pointer. It is a brand new rig with 4g RAM (2g sticks) and I am running the 64 bit version but wounder if this is causing the problem.
Also when I try to do a system restore using the windows disc, I must first go into the settings (by pressing DEL on start up), then set my bay drive to boot first rather then my SATA to get the "Press any button to boot from disc... " prompt. Otherwise windows will ignore the disc. However when I load the disc and try to go into restore points, there are none to choose from.... I have no clue what to do and am willing to just install windows complelty again ext.
My laptop didn't reboot wen i restarted it.. so i decided to recover using the recovery disk.. But wen it reached the last cd, the recovery failed. So i decided to choose to delete all files.. after formatting, wen I reboot it appears, BOOTMGR missing. so I used windows 7 cd installer, planning to reinstall my OS.. i restarted, reboot on cd/dvd, then "windows loading" appears.. after that black screen with appears.. wmouse pointer appears.. Laptop: toshiba A665 OS: windows 7 home premium
[code] This info above is not for the PC in trouble.I have an ACER laptop and it all of a sudden went to a blue screen and then tried to reboot to a black screen with mouse pointer only. Tried my win 7 upgrade CD to see if I could repair and it only loads to the same end. No options are asked for.The blue screen has appeared a couple of times and states a unusable boot sector. I would like to run a checkdisk but cannot find one to put on a memory stick with a minimal operating system.I have tried all the reboot choices, F8, F2 and F12.I tried to use an old windows XP install CD and when I select install it says a HDD can not be found.
Occasionally when I boot up my PC (Windows 7 Pro SP1), the screen is dulled but the mouse pointer (arrow) is very bright. When it's like this, if I open an application the text and the caret pointer are very dull and difficult to read. The situation doesn't change if I try a different monitor. So far, the only way I've found to get back to normal is to re-boot.
Basically, my pointer keeps pushing to a certain point on my screen. It is not pushing in a direction but to a certain point on my screen. It does not do this during safe mode. It also does it during certain times during gaming, where I discovered the problem. For example, it didn't do this when I was placing a turret gun, during the game, but, did so when I tried to make the turret face a certain way and I could only make it face one way. I am doing to do virus scans. It is probably a virus because earlier that day when I tried to download something I accidentally used a download link inside a pop.
I recently purchased Windows 7 and was trying to boot from the disc to do a clean installation, but every time I do this a blank Windows 7 screen appears with a mouse pointer. There are no options or anywhere to click. It just stays on the Windows 7 screen.
I've tried multiple discs (32bit, 64bit and even my friend's copy)
Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know how to fix this?
I tried a registry tweak to fix my home networking issues and came up with a major fail. Long story short, I changed the rpcedptmapper value and the system won't boot.I put the HDD in a cradle and it won't get recognized. HP in all their wisdom, sets the recovery disk to obliterate the entire HDD even if you created a separate boot partition
installed windows 7 ultimate(tried both 64 and 32 bit) to my pc. but after installation when it reboots for the 1st time, it shows a black screen with the mouse pointer. i waited 1/2 hour but no use.my pc config core2quad q6600, asus P5KVM, 2 gb ddr2 ram, nvidia 9600gt 512mb and 380 gb seagate hd also when i try to boot in safe mode it says that windows have to start normally for the first time.i installed it over xp sp3 by formatting the c drive.i have reinstalled it atleast 6 times but no change.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. All of a sudden, it has stopped starting up without me installing anything new.I gets past the bios, shows the Windows logo and then before the login page appears, the screen goes black and only has the mouse pointer (which I can move around curiously!).I have tried doing Startup repair, loading in Safe Mode, loading with lower screen resolution, loading with Last Known Good Configuaration, done a memory scan: they all lead to the same result.I don't think it is an issue with the Hard Drive because I can still hear it spinning, also, I am able to pull files off it when I plug it in to my USB (using an adapter). Also, Windows loads to some point and it would get stuck at the bios if it was.Don't think it is the graphics card or I wouldn't be able to see anything that I see up until that point including the mouse pointer.I have tried using Google but many places have left this unresolved or the problem is not exactly like mine.
I have an ergo AS2 all-in-one PC with built in Touchscreen Display on WIndows 7. All drivers are installed, and the touch screen is working, however the Mouse Pointer on screen is bugging the hell out of me.I have USB mouse plugged in as well, and when using the USB mouse, i get the default white arrow, but as soon as I use finger on the Touchscreen the Mouse pointer changes to a small diamond. When I take my finger of the screen, the mouse pointer dissappears alltogether (until the next time i touch or move the mouse)I want the touchscreen Mouse pointer to stay the same as the normal white arrow. I have tried all the options under Mouse settings and Pen and Touch, but none work.
Upgraded to Windows7 Bit32 from Vista on HP desktop machine. The only thing I get is a black screen after the startup and a mouse pointer, but nothing else.
When I boot my computer, I see "Starting Windows". The screen then goes black and the mouse pointer shows up in the middle. The mouse does not move.I inserted my Windows 7 disc and went into repair. I tried a restore and a repair. Nothing happened. I should note that also my mouse pointer was not functioning at this time, either. That is, the pointer was in the center and the mouse was not moving.I hear the fan going on, eventually it stops making noise, not to be confused with the computer shutting off. I guess you call that more of an "idle sound".I checked the connections. Unplugged and replugged in the mouse. No luck.
My mother in law has an acer aspire 5732Z, yesterday she was fiddling with the touch pad sensitivity and suddenly her screen went black. Each time she tries restarting, she gets the windows 7 startup screen, but just before getting to the log in screen, the screen goes black. The mouse pointer is still on the screen and she can hear that the computer is still on. But besides that, nothing can make it start up properly.I have tried talking her through safe mode startup, but that didn't do anything. She has pulled out the battery and restarted, which does nothing either.
I was fixing an issue with the mouse pointer not working on this Asus laptop. External mouse wouldn't work, touchpad would not work, Code 39 on both the mouse and touchpad.
how to fix it and navigating without a pointer is a pain in the butt. Anyone have this happen and resolved it without reinstalling windows?
After messing with it, booted up Ubuntu to test the hardware and everything worked, so I pulled the drive and backed up all the data and restored the machine.
I have found a pointer that I want to use in my Windows 7 environment, it is the airplane pointer used in Secret Weapons Over Normandy. Can anyone tell me how I go about this? It appears the cursor file in the game folder is a .bin file without a picture while windows cursor fies are .cur and have a picture in the file listing.
A menu item from a context menu frequently remains displayed after a mouse click. For instance I have a display that has the word 'Delete' on it. This display is on top of anything I type or try to read. That is why I had to put a carriage return after display above as I was unable to move anything so that the I could see what I was doing. The only way I have found to get rids of it is to reboot. Doesn't matter what program I am in. It happens when I click on a context menu item.
Another minor, but nonetheless annoying and recurring problem. Even while CPU usage is very low (2%-8% of Core i7-975), frequently the mouse pointer freezes for 1 or 3 seconds on the desktop, then jumps instantly to where I was trying to direct it before it froze momentarily. There is randomly 2-10 seconds of proper mouse-pointer functioning between the freeze-up/hesitations. It keeps doing this repeatedly for as long as 10-15 minutes at a time. And it often happens when there is little or no applications load on the system. I checked Norton by chance it was running a scan in the background... nada. I checked "processes" and "services" running and found nothing unusual. I checked the batteries in my wireless Microsoft ARC mouse and they are full-charged.
my keyboard and mouse doesnt work when i boot my pc..but when i tried it again and again only my mouse will work but during startup repair it will not function again...whats the problem with my pc? is it the mouse and keyboard or its inside the cpu ?
Can I have an explanation of how to operate the pointer w/o a mouse. I believe there is a way using the keys on the keyboard. This would be for a temporary fix.
My mouse keeps jumping to where ever the pointer happens to be. sometimes I will hit the space bar and I would lose the whole screen I cant use the word processor as a result.
Just curious why my mouse pointer sometimes spines in a circle when i click on a browser and then finally opens it about 10 seconds later. Sometimes I have to click it again before it will open. What causes this and how can I prevent it from happening?
Apart from the fact that my Mouse Pointer has suddenly become really REALLY big! I've tried changing the size setting via the Control Panel but it doesn't change the size at all!
I've been informed by a friend of mine that if I lift my mouse off the desk that it thinks the mouse is really far away and makes the adjustment however... it won't go back to normal size!!
Okay so i have just recently realized that my mouse has somewhat of a shadow behind it, Well i was on photoshop today trying to do something and i saw that my mouse will also barely paint the section of this "Shadow" Well i went into Personalization and turned shadow off and set the mouse to basic settings. This problem still occurs. I tried downloading Microsofts Intellipoint 32 bit software and i cant connect to it, Tells me failure to connect, Can anyone please help me?
First of all, I don't know what I am doing. While I am home for Christmas my elderly mother asked me to fix her computer because it is "broken." What broken apparently means is that the mouse pointer is gone. I have tried everything I can think to do to get the mouse pointer back: going into mouse properties and choosing the proper device (it seems to be stuck on other pointing device, not the touchpad). That is the only thing I could think to do. Plus, I am not great at navigating without a mouse pointer.
Hardware Installed New ram, is the only thing I have done, and the problem started last week, about a week after I put the ram in.
Software: The new windows 7 updates, other then that nothing
All of a sudden my mouse only Left clicks on things it wants to. I can select icons on the desktop, but I cant click the start menu or the "X" to close a window, nor drag windows. Sometimes it can be the other way.
This is very Irritating, I just restart and hope it works the next time.
I can confirm this issue, since I am using a laptop and both external and touchpad double tap, and clicker have the same issue.
While in IE my mouse pointer will disappear. I unchecked "hide while typing" and it still disappears. I'll be reading a web page and the pointer disappears, I then have to shake the mouse so I can see where it is. Is this a new "feature" in the latest version of IE. If so, how do I turn it off?
Don't know whether anyone else has had this problem but my mouse pointer disappears in Media Center.
It never used to, this problem only started over the last few days.
I have a Roccat Kone mouse and I know that Windows 7 doesn't like it. I've had to download a fresh driver for each of the many builds I've installed over the last 6 months i.e. it won't install a stored driver.
Anyway. I can't think why this should have suddenly started. I've not installed anything new.
It makes Media Center virtually impossible to use for watching TV, using the guide etc.
