I was fixing an issue with the mouse pointer not working on this Asus laptop. External mouse wouldn't work, touchpad would not work, Code 39 on both the mouse and touchpad.
how to fix it and navigating without a pointer is a pain in the butt. Anyone have this happen and resolved it without reinstalling windows?
After messing with it, booted up Ubuntu to test the hardware and everything worked, so I pulled the drive and backed up all the data and restored the machine.
I have run into a problem I haven't seen before on a HP desktop running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The users reported that when they open a window, ~30 instances of the window open at once. The error is intermittent, but since they shut down the PC after each use it may come and go with each boot. I looked at the machine and it functioned fine after several reboots, but eventually I was able to see some strange results. I didn't see the multiple windows open, but I did have some input issues. The mouse pointer would jump all over the screen and applications would open that were never clicked. The right click did not function correctly. Sometimes the context menu would flash on and off and sometimes nothing. I tried an alternate mouse and using a different USB port with identical results. I have run virus scans, malware scans and a registry scan, but no dice.
Last night my keyboard and touchpad stopped working on my laptop and now I'm using the usb mouse and the "On screen keyboard". I have done a system restore but to no avail. I've also taken out the battery (found in another thread) but nothing. In device manager there is an exclamation mark next these:1. Under keyboard. keyboard device filter2. Under mouse and other pointing devices. ELAN PS/2 port smart padDouble clicking both of them gets these properties for each respectively:1. Under keyboard. Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)2. Under ELAN PS/2 port smart pad. This device cannot start. (Code 10)The laptop is an Asus x53sv running win 7 64bitI made a recovery disc (in fact there 5) when I first got it but using that wipes the hard drive C:. I know that for XP there is a repair program which you get to by following the procedure for doing a re-install but you have this option which doesn't wipe the hard drive. I've used it.Does something similar exist for Win 7?
I am not really good with computers, I know something is wrong but not really sure how to fix it, I use Windows 7 Ultimate with a dedicated graphics card 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7970M and a intergrated graphics card Intel HD Graphics 4000 installed in my laptop, I used to be able to play Total War Shogun 2 (and other games) with my AMD Radeon Graphics Card, but for some reason my laptop decides to run on my Intel HD Graphics 4000 instead now. With my little knowledge that I have, when I go to device manager -> display adaptors, I can see both AMD Radeon 7970M and Intel HD Graphics 4000 there and my laptop shows that both graphics card are functioning properly (and up to date). But when I go to DxDiag, it only shows the Intel HD Graphics 4000, and when I disable my Intel HD Graphics 4000, my laptop cannot detect any graphics card.
When I update my bios the power was gone and my battery also dead. So when the power come I restart my compaq c772 tu Laptop but it not functioning. Only black screen appear. What to do?
I have found a pointer that I want to use in my Windows 7 environment, it is the airplane pointer used in Secret Weapons Over Normandy. Can anyone tell me how I go about this? It appears the cursor file in the game folder is a .bin file without a picture while windows cursor fies are .cur and have a picture in the file listing.
So a few days ago my cursor started lagging. Everything else run normally - it's just the cursor. Occasionally it goes smooth again, but then returns to lag-ville after a while.I've ran NOD32 antivirus scans, cleaned my registries with CCleaner, ran Spybot, tried reinstalling/ updating mouse and display drivers. Still nothing.

My win 7 laptop reported that a usb device had malfunctioned - my mouse, a roccat kone, no longer controlled the pointer. The scroll wheel and buttons still work, but the pointer will not move. Having had a similar problem in the past I purchased a new mouse, a rat 7, but I have the exact same problem.
Now both mice work fine on my PC, and both work on a variety of surfaces. - I have tried in safe mode, no luck - I have tried uninstalling all usb drivers, and all mouse drivers, no success (all other peripherals work fine, hard rives, usb drives and a tablet/pen) - I have rebooted a million times, and tried toggling legacy usb support in bios. - I also tried installing microsoft generic mouse drivers, no luck.
I am willing to try anything, though id rather not reinstall the os.
I'm having a problem with this laptop after changing out the ram. It's a Lenovo 3000n100, running Windows 7 32bit. ( I upgraded from Vista.)
It originally came with 1GB ram, I increased it to 2 GB. It shows in the bios as 2 and also in belarc.
After changing out the ram, about every other time I start it up, when it gets to the logon screen, the pointer is frozen. I can log in, and on the desktop it's also frozen, so I have to use the win key and arrows to restart then it starts up normally. Once in a while, when it get to the logon screen, it's just black and then I have to do a hard shut down.
I changed the ram sticks around, made sure they are seated properly and I still have this problem.
Before buying the ram, I ran the crucial advisor and bought [URL] Crucial 2GB Set(2x1GB) 200-Pin PC2 5300 667Mhz SODIMM DDR2 RAM: Electronics IRC, I didn't have this problem with the original ram 512x2. Not even sure if it's a ram problem or not, but I haven't been able to figure out what's going on.
I have also checked the intel drivers and they are up to date.
I have an Asus g73jh laptop with 2 hdd's about 2.5 yrs old, would like to replace 1 hdd with an SSD for obvious reasons.I am looking at getting a Samsung 128GB 840 Pro.
I recently bought an Asus N55SL laptop. It came pre-installed with Win 7 Home Premium on a 750GB drive.I bought a 120GB SSD, and would like to replace the HDD with it. The HDD came with a recovery partition on it, When I started the laptop for the first time, I made Asus recovery disks that can be used to restore the laptop to factory conditions. However, when i try to use those to recover to the SSD, it appears to work, but when it's "setting up windows for first time use" it goes into a rebooting loop. I'm assuming that the disk image made by the recovery program on the 750gb HDD can't be applied to the 120gb SSD. I've read that SSds work better with fresh installs of Windows anyway. So, how can I install windows on my SSD using the Win 7 product key that came with my laptop? I tried installing another copy of Win7 Home Premium that I had, but the license key wouldn't work for it. I called Asus support but they didn't give me any useful info.
My Asus laptop won't Start up , I have tried system repair , system restore , system image recovery and even windows memory diagnostic but it still won't start up
I have a Asus G73jh that will not boot up. It was running super slow the other night so I shut it down and re booted. a screen promted me with something like "computer was unable to start, need to run repair" so i ran the repair and it timed out and told me i need to bring computer the the repair shop or something.
I unscrewed the back and noticed the Ram was not seated so I seated it and made sure HDD was seated and tried to reboot but now it just takes a very long time to boot and only get to the login screen but the login section where you enter password doesnt appear and only shows my wallpaper with very low resolution mouse cursor.
I tried to to boot in safe mode, does the same thing, I tried a system restore but wont let me, it just goes right to the blank login screen with low resolution. bad hard drive? bad ram? idk what to do its a $1700 laptop out of warranty.
My linkMy errors and updates are all stated there, however I will also continue anything I restarted the process. This time, during the startup of the computer I repeatedly tapped Esc. then selected my P2 HL-DT-STDVDRAM GT34N and pressed enter. This was followed up by the usual "Windows is loading files..." progress bar. Afterwards, it sat at the "Starting Windows" screen for eight minutes. It loads a basic ASUS wallpaper and cursor. I am then confronted with the prompt: AI RECOVERY-Are you ready to restore this image yes/no?I select yes.AI RECOVERY:Restoring it will overwrite your hard drive. Do you want to continue? Ok/cancelI select ok. The AI Recovery Restore begins-This DVD will help you recover hidden partition. Check the AC adapter connection and do not interrupt the restoration process.
I have an Asus X52F series laptop only one year old and it keeps crashing. When I start it up it loads up fine but then when I click on something say the internet it wont respond and completely crashes nothing will load. Every so often if left for ages after start up it responds but then after running for a while it becomes unresponsive again,it also runs fine in safe mode.I have PCTools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus which is not finding anything and I have run Malwarebytes and it too doesn't find anything.
I own an Asus Laptop that runs on Windows 7 and I've been getting random BSOD for months (around 6) and they've become more frequent. I've downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scanned my computer and thought the problem was fixed but then it would come back. It's happened 11 times this month and 3 times today alone.I really don't know what to do anymore. I've considered reinstalling windows but I don't have the disc.
I have a ASUS laptop which crashed after AVG installation. Did everythying (changed the AVG folder name etc). Now stops at CLASSPNP.SYS in safe mode. Also cant go to Repair ( get message "Windows is Loading Files") and nothing happens....
I dont mind formating and doing complete reset to Factory settings. (I have copied all data). However, I dont have CD for restoring Windows. F9 does not work.
Through midnight manager I can see the folder WindowsImageBackup on my D drive (80GB). Can I use this one (how?)
My sons laptop won't boot up (only 6 weeks old). When it tries to boot up a screen pops up that says the computer did not shut down properly and do we want to start-up in safe mode. It has three safe mode options and a start-up in normal mode. We have tried start-up in all possible modes at this point and in all cases it will not get past the Windows logo...just stays on a black screen after the windows logo is shown. We have had the store where we bought it run a diagnostic and they say hardware is fine so must be operating system. if there is an override or way we can restart the operating system?
When I installed Win 7 clean, everything was fine for a couple of days. Then I noticed I had lost support for the Tosiba HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20L ATA which I used to install Windows. Now my CD doesn't even show up; trouble shooter says it can't install since the registry entry doesn't agree...huh???
I tried copying the cdrom.sys from my Vista 64 to Win 7 64 and tried to get it to use that, but no avail.
Anybody ever had this problem? I went back to my Vista 64 and the CD drive works fine.
1st, sorry for my English, I'm french and I'm not really good in IT.I have an ASUS with an Athros Wireless R9285.Since the last update, I can't connect in wifi anymore (but it's ok with the cable, and ok with my other computer).I first though it was the on/off wifi button, or the Fn/F2 command, but no. Then, I tried to connect/unconnect the card, change the power specification, try all the anti viruses I've got and make a "restauration" at a date before the update and so the issue.
My new ASUS laptop will not shut down. I saw a thread a couple of days ago where a Richc46 said to try disconnecting the internet connection and then trying to shut down and if that worked he knew how to fix it. However, the thread ended there. I tried this and disconnecting the internet connection worked.I think Richc46 said it was something to do with the device manager, but I may be remembering that wrong. All of the other shut down menu options work (hibernate, sleep, restart, etc), it just won't shut down and restarts instead.I had tried the disconnection of the internet and it worked and successfully shut down ONCE. I just tried it again and it is restarting like it had been, so it's not as easy as just stopping the internet connection.
Windows Resource Protection shows some corrupt files. I am assuming their in my Windows 7 bought two weeks ago. Where they come from I dont know or care. How do I clean this all up without dumping all my files and programs? It may be preventing my HP printer from scanning, printing yes, scanning no. I have been on the phone for hours with HP, ASUS and today Microsoft, they told me to run a program "cmd.exe " which showed the corrupt files?
We have an ASUS K52Jr purchased in April last year. At the start of this year the hard drive packed it in while I was trying to download something on ITunes and it would not start up again. We were moving and so didn't get around to taking it in for a couple of months. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago we went it in to ASUS and the hard drive was replaced under warranty (2-year warranty). The laptop is working fine now on AC power but the battery will not charge. I've tried shutting it down, taking the battery out, restarting it and putting the battery in while it's on, but no dice. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the power management driver from "Device Manager". It was saying "plugged in, charging" on the battery icon but the "power bar" on the icon would stop moving within a few seconds of putting the battery back in and the power level would stay at 0%. Yesterday it started saying "plugged in, not charging".Is this because the battery was left in the laptop while it wasn't working? Is it just coincidental that the problem started after the hard drive was replaced?
