I've had this problem with my mouse since I upgraded to windows 7. Whenever I'm playing a game, or anything fullscreen and I right click or click the middle mouse button, the cursor jumps across my screen, sometimes down or to the left. and sometimes, both.
View 8 RepliesI have run into a problem I haven't seen before on a HP desktop running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The users reported that when they open a window, ~30 instances of the window open at once. The error is intermittent, but since they shut down the PC after each use it may come and go with each boot. I looked at the machine and it functioned fine after several reboots, but eventually I was able to see some strange results. I didn't see the multiple windows open, but I did have some input issues. The mouse pointer would jump all over the screen and applications would open that were never clicked. The right click did not function correctly. Sometimes the context menu would flash on and off and sometimes nothing. I tried an alternate mouse and using a different USB port with identical results. I have run virus scans, malware scans and a registry scan, but no dice.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI my middle click function has stopped working on my mouse, at first I assumed it was a Chrome update and that I could no longer use it to "Open link in new tab" however it seems that it now does absolutely nothing and I am unable to reassign it. I used CAD software (Solidworks) that requires the middle mouse button for me to be able to pivot my view about the pointer on the screen (also a few PC games I play would be much smoother if I could do this).I have all the latest drivers and firmware installed.I did find this thread that I thought might help me; Middle Mouse Button , however the screen shot at the bottom shows the Mouse Options on the Control Panel having a lot more option than it does for me, the only options I have are switching the left and right mouse buttons, double-click speed adjustment and ClickLock.The buttons assignment window that I get using the Razer software gives no more options other than to assign the forwards and backwards buttons ("Windows Button 4" and "Windows Button 5").
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden I can no longer open or close new tabs using the middle mouse click (clicking the scroll wheel) it doesn work in ie or in firefox. Also seems like it doesn't work on the desktop or any other application. I have'nt installed new updates or new programs, I don't have any "mouse software" like intellipoint. This affects both my wireless keyboard with built in trackball and a serperate wireless scrollmouse. The only think I can think of is that a few days ago I changed the the speed of my cursor.. of course this shouldn't have affected anything else.... but it is really annoying as I mostly use my computer for web browsing and always open links in new tabs..

Typing anywhere not possible - email, word processing, etc. To reactivate, the mouse had to be left-clicked. After trying literally everything to resolve, I performed a total system restore back to when the laptop was new. Obviously, a Windows 7 update has a serious glitch. I am now getting requests to allow updates and am denying them. How do I keep updates from automatically occurring? I plan to deny updates until I can get Windows 8.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron 1525 was freezing up as I type job apps (I was laid off so I need this fixed quickly) so a repair service we use (1 person) looked and upgraded me to Windows 7 from Vista. I have two issues now. It no longer locks up but the cursor jumps all over the page causing me to make mistakes typing and garbling sentences. It is not the touch pad. I have even covered it with cardboard and it still does it. The repair tech doesn't seem interested in finding the cause so I am stuck. Spell check is now saying portions of words are wrong such as the "ood" in Good Evening in this post. It is doing this for both times I have written the word. I have researched this and find similar but not close enough possible solutions.
Here is what I have found and tried. I have lowered the cursor speed to the third line. It seemed to help somewhat but now it is back to the same problem. I have scanned with Malwarebytes and my AVG antivirus. Both are up to date and nothing has been found. I performed a disk cleanup and defrag, it did noI am not a computer expert so this is the extent of my attemptsThis happened once a year ago with Vista and the service tech found it to be a driver issue on a forum and fixed it. He does not remember doing this and I believe he thinks I am insane.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI noticed something similar happening in my previous laptop using Vista, but in Windows 7 it's almost unusable. As I'm typing the cursor will change positions either on the application (to another area of same application), or will jump to another document. At times I'll start to highlight something in Word to delete it, and as I hit "delete" the cursor switches to another part of the document, highlighting another paragraph and deleting it instead of what I was trying to delete.
At other times I see the cursor leave the document, go to one of the icons of another application at the bottom of the screen. Just as I hit "return" the cursor is now in another document and that document comes up on the screen instead of the one I was using. At first I was losing whole documents. But then I got smart enough to realize that they had been closed, or stuck somewhere, and I eventually could find them instead of losing all of the work I had done.
I've been composing emails and suddenly the email disappears. It was sent before I finished composing it. This happens about one every minute or so, and sometimes even more often. I can see the hourglass pop up on the screne as I move the mouse. When it pops up either the screen zoom changes, screen size changes, or jumps off to one of the other icons as I mentioned above. It looks to me as if the operating system is doing something else at those times, and if I'm going very fast (I type at about 100 wpm and up) that keystrokes get stuck somewhere I didn't intend for them to be.
I make that assumption because when I move the mouse fast and see the hourglass pop up that's when it happens with the mouse, so I'm assuming that it happens with keystrokes as well. But that's a guess. I also notice that if my finger drags across the mousepad on the laptop that sometimes that can cause this erratic behavior. Or if as I move the mouse instead of being in the center of the sensor pad I'm at the edge, that can create some real weird results.
When typing message cursor jumps backwards and seems the margins are not set correctly. It has been doing this about 2 months.

it is very frustrating as i need to put the cursor back in it's original place again, due to the fact that it jumps to previously typed text. sometimes it goes back a few words, sometimes it jumps up a few lines. whenever it jumps back, it jumps in between words or randomly in words like you can see on the second image.
it happens alot (the more i type, the faster it occurs again). i am 100% sure that it's not caused by me touching the touchpad while typing, as i've been looking for 10 minutes now while typing and i can't spot myself touching the pad with my hand, finger or anything else. i tried covering the touchpad with random objects such as a sheet of paper or a creditcard but the problem still occurs.
it happens in any program (firefox, internet explorer, microsoft office, notepad,...), even when i'm watching a Internet-video browsing the comments it's scrolling the page up (never scrolls down).
I don't know if anyone else has noticed,but I believe the middle-click (wheel click) has changed behavior on the taskbar. When I used to middle-click on an icon (e.g. Internet Explorer) that's pinned on the taskbar, it used to pop up a new window.
Now whenever I do this, it brings me the alt-tab window selection. I suspect it happened after some update.
Another minor, but nonetheless annoying and recurring problem. Even while CPU usage is very low (2%-8% of Core i7-975), frequently the mouse pointer freezes for 1 or 3 seconds on the desktop, then jumps instantly to where I was trying to direct it before it froze momentarily. There is randomly 2-10 seconds of proper mouse-pointer functioning between the freeze-up/hesitations. It keeps doing this repeatedly for as long as 10-15 minutes at a time. And it often happens when there is little or no applications load on the system. I checked Norton by chance it was running a scan in the background... nada. I checked "processes" and "services" running and found nothing unusual. I checked the batteries in my wireless Microsoft ARC mouse and they are full-charged.

My middle mouse button doesnt work anywhere anymore. this mouse uses microsots own drivers so there is no software for it to change middle mouse button settings. after firefox updated it stopped working everywhere. and i mean everywhere even in games. like it isnt in there anymore at all. i have even opened my mouse and cleaned it so problem aint in there. tried replug the mouse. and cant find anything what says middle mouse button in windows 7 32bit settings

I have windows firewall on, but haven't really made any other changes.My cursor flashes the busy symbol about once every 4-5 seconds, and it does so whenever the mouse is on the desktop or anywhere it shows the regular icon. When inside this text window it changes to the text cursor and ceases to flash, however. I changed the icon only to have the new one act the same.
View 28 Replies View RelatedFor a little while I have had a problem with my mouse cursor sticking inside of windows and even icons on the taskbar. It shakes back and forth and won't allow me to move past the icon or window it's stuck in.This begins happening at random while I am doing "whatever". I haven't been able to isolate it as occurring when I am doing a certain task. I have already tried the following. (which everybody keeps telling me over and over)
1. Closing each program 1 by 1 to see if it stops.
2. Using a different mouse - Both do the same thing.
3. Rebooting - Real fun trying to save my work 20 minutes into being booted up when I can't even move from window to window properly.
4. Getting the newest mouse drivers.
5. Making sure that my graphics tablet pen isn't laying too near the tablet.
6. Throwing things.
My mouse cursor stopped moving and I removed the stick because it seemed to be interfering with the USB.The next day, I was playing a game and the keys were malfunctioning and typing more than one letter each or the wrong letter altogether. I tried another keyboard and got similar, yet different errors. One keyboard types hn instead of n. The other won't type certain letters at all, like d or g. I couldn't even log into windows without using the cursor keypad to log in. The language settings are OK. I re-installed the drivers for keyboard and mouse. No dice. Sometimes the mistakes would change. H works now, but was zh a minute ago. I finally did a system repair and afterwards, I could log into windows again. I then typed every letter of the alphabet into Google and there were no problems, but 10 seconds later, the problem is back. Does this sound like a keyboard controller problem?I could type my password when running system repair, so the keyboard works in the boot area. Just not anywhere from windows log on or further.

my mouse cursor (the triangle thing) freezes for 1-2 seconds at completly random times now , what determined me to not buy another one is this after the freeze ends the Computer makes a sound like....like when you extract a .rar file and its done , that sound , and now i know its a virus or a malware , i just need to find it anti virus cant detect it...!
