No Longer Able To Middle Mouse Click For Firefox
Oct 29, 2009I just installed updates and now I cant middle mouse click to open in new tab for firefox.. is there a way to fix this?

Middle Mouse Click No Longer Opens Or Closes New Tabs In Ie Or Firefox
Sep 29, 2010All of a sudden I can no longer open or close new tabs using the middle mouse click (clicking the scroll wheel) it doesn work in ie or in firefox. Also seems like it doesn't work on the desktop or any other application. I have'nt installed new updates or new programs, I don't have any "mouse software" like intellipoint. This affects both my wireless keyboard with built in trackball and a serperate wireless scrollmouse. The only think I can think of is that a few days ago I changed the the speed of my cursor.. of course this shouldn't have affected anything else.... but it is really annoying as I mostly use my computer for web browsing and always open links in new tabs..

Oct 6, 2011I my middle click function has stopped working on my mouse, at first I assumed it was a Chrome update and that I could no longer use it to "Open link in new tab" however it seems that it now does absolutely nothing and I am unable to reassign it. I used CAD software (Solidworks) that requires the middle mouse button for me to be able to pivot my view about the pointer on the screen (also a few PC games I play would be much smoother if I could do this).I have all the latest drivers and firmware installed.I did find this thread that I thought might help me; Middle Mouse Button , however the screen shot at the bottom shows the Mouse Options on the Control Panel having a lot more option than it does for me, the only options I have are switching the left and right mouse buttons, double-click speed adjustment and ClickLock.The buttons assignment window that I get using the Razer software gives no more options other than to assign the forwards and backwards buttons ("Windows Button 4" and "Windows Button 5").

Nov 1, 2009I don't know if anyone else has noticed,but I believe the middle-click (wheel click) has changed behavior on the taskbar. When I used to middle-click on an icon (e.g. Internet Explorer) that's pinned on the taskbar, it used to pop up a new window.
Now whenever I do this, it brings me the alt-tab window selection. I suspect it happened after some update.

Jan 14, 2013My middle mouse button doesnt work anywhere anymore. this mouse uses microsots own drivers so there is no software for it to change middle mouse button settings. after firefox updated it stopped working everywhere. and i mean everywhere even in games. like it isnt in there anymore at all. i have even opened my mouse and cleaned it so problem aint in there. tried replug the mouse. and cant find anything what says middle mouse button in windows 7 32bit settings

Aug 10, 2010The only way I seem to be able to launch a program is to right click and select "Run as Administrator". This odd behavior only happens on a system I have designated as my media server. It is a P4 3.06Ghz w/4 GB Memory, Hyper Threading, and ~ 4 TB of storage. I am running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. I've checked my mouse settings and internet options and don't see anything out of the ordinary as compared to my other Win 7 systems which work normally.
It began acting strangely about 4 to 6 weeks ago after a massive Windows Update. Windows Update crashed in the middle of the update and began what seemed at first to be a endless reboot loop to install the updates which invariably failed.
I was just about to pull the plug and rebuild the system from scratch when it finally booted up saying all the updates were successful!?!? However, since that time programs will only launch when I right click and select "Run as Administrator". Double clicking either program shortcuts or registered file types starts the "busy" indicator but it stops after a few seconds with no action. For the programs I use on that system most often it's not a problem. However, there are some program file types like ".msi" where "Run as Administrator" is not on the "right click" options menu. I can't do anything with them.
Mouse No Longer Wakes Up Laptop?
Sep 27, 2012I have a laptop with a monitor attached. I use to be able to come in and move the mouse to wake up the system. Now, I need to open the laptop and push the power button. I have gone into System/Device Manager/Mice.... and there is no option to "allow device to wake up". My knowledge is limited, but I do understand some things. I just don't see what could have caused this change. It just happened out of the blue!

Jul 28, 2012recently my computer was acting up and would not startup past the "windows is starting up" screen. I really wanted to play a bunch of games I just bought so I kept occasionally getting it to work in "last known good configuration". Safe mode didn't work and eventually I ran a disc I have no idea what it's called but it said soldierx on the screen and ran like 8 virus scans and did a bunch of tests on my comp, apparently geeksquad uses it. Anyways it removed 3120 spyware, but right before I decided to run this the only reason I decided to was because my keyboard and mouse stopped working. It works in the bios and anything before I actually get to my desktop, lights up and everything, even the keyboard shortcuts work such as windows search, but I can't move my mouse or do anything with my keyboard. I ran startup repair and it says that windows can't automatically fix the problem, had my dad do some pin reset thing where you do something with the battery and move pin 1 to 2 and 2 to three or something like that and didn't work, the bios has ps/2 enabled and legacy something enabled which I read could be the problem, and I have no restore points.

But then I looked into what updates I had installed, and on the same day I updated "Intel(R) Network Connections" was when the mouse problem started. Nov 25, 2009Usually when using an internet browser (firefox or internet explorer) and windows explorer windows, I try to click to switch tabs and it doesn't respond. It shows (Not Responding) for a split second and won't switch tabs. I end up having to click a whole bunch of times before it switches.
This same kind of thing happens with explorer windows when trying to restore them from the minimized state. It just won't respond and multiple clicks are needed before seeing any action. This has been happening for awhile now but I figure it just may be another bug

Jan 12, 2010i've been having a problem with my mouse, it clicks just once in a while, and, sometimes, it gets better with one window (program) but when I change to another program or desktop, it stops clicking again. It begun out of nowhere about 3 days ago. I run my pc on windows 7, I tried changing the usb port, the mouse and it doesn't work. What does help is doing a ctrl+alt+del, starting task manager and returning to windows, then, I can click on a single program and it begins to work (the mouse clicks) with it. Typing alt+tab also helps sometimes.
My xbox controller and keyboard are functioning normally. I recently updated my kaspersky to the latest version, but I tried deactivating it but I had no luck with the mouse. I'm thinking about returning to a previous kaspersky version, first, then, if that doesn't help, reinstalling the windows.
Ah, another thing that might help: i have windows vista on the same PC, same HD and, when I logged in it to see if the problem persisted, gess what, yes, the same mouse problem. That made me think of a hardware problem, but on all usb ports is odd. Can anyone help?

Feb 6, 2010I installed Windows 7 a few months ago, everything was working fine until a few days.
A while after the computer is on, i want to click anymore neither with my touch pad nor with my external usb mouse....
The cursor moves normally but left click and right click won't work. if i do CTRL ALT DEL and cancel it works again for a while and then starts again.
The weird part, is it's not alway for the whole screen, sometimes i cannot click windows, sometimes i cannot click the tasl bar, sometimes both...
I really can't seem to find an answer to this problem, i've been thinking it might be a problem of screen refresh as the CTRL ALT DEL solves it for a few minutes, but I'm not sure... Can someone here help me please?

Aug 16, 2010My netbook, running windows 7 starter, no longer allows me to right click. Not in programs, not in folders, not on the desktop. I was using a USB mouse (which I tested on another mechine, the right click works fine there, so its not the mouse). After this problem started I tried a second usb mouse and the right-click on the built-in touch pad mouse. None of them worked. I have tried rebooting, I tried updating the drivers on my USB mouse. May 24, 2009I uninstalled the Interactual and Sonic Cineplayer software because that interfered with Windows Media Player and Power DVD v7.
I set my autoplay option for the DVD drive to "Always ask" for a DVD movie.
When I insert a DVD movie I get the autoplay option for WMP or PowerDVD.
Now everything works except for one quirk.
If I insert a DVD MOVIE, cancel the autoplay option and then simply mouse click on the DVD drive I get:
"Windows cannot access the specified device. path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
Any other type of DVD/CD works fine. IT IS JUST DVD MOVIES.
I think Interactual, which want to own the DVD drive, left some registry entry whereby it tries to re-install itsellf (I REALLY hate that software).
1) Any ideas as to what the POC Interactual software left behind an how to clean it?
2) Also, why, oh why, can't the Windows error message INCLUDE the "device, path, or file" NAME in the error message? (Pet Peeve #1) Are you listening Redmond?
