I don't know if anyone else has noticed,but I believe the middle-click (wheel click) has changed behavior on the taskbar. When I used to middle-click on an icon (e.g. Internet Explorer) that's pinned on the taskbar, it used to pop up a new window.
Now whenever I do this, it brings me the alt-tab window selection. I suspect it happened after some update.
I built a pc a few days ago. It has windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Today when i started it and i clicked on start it also right clicked on its own. As i was typing in MS Word in the middle of a sentence when i clicked the space bar the pc acted as if i right clicked on my mouse. I ran CCleaner it did not help. I uninstalled the usb drivers for the keyboard and mouse using USBDeview that didnt help either. I uninstalled naturally dragon 11 because it was the last install i did before i noticed

(a) Left-clicking on the task bar icon
(b) Right-clicking on the task bar icon
In all releases, when you were hovering over the pinned items with more than one window open, pressing middle click to the thumbnails closed the windows....Now it's not happening anymore...
Is it just me or the feauture is off? i use Build 7000
I just installed updates and now I cant middle mouse click to open in new tab for firefox.. is there a way to fix this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI my middle click function has stopped working on my mouse, at first I assumed it was a Chrome update and that I could no longer use it to "Open link in new tab" however it seems that it now does absolutely nothing and I am unable to reassign it. I used CAD software (Solidworks) that requires the middle mouse button for me to be able to pivot my view about the pointer on the screen (also a few PC games I play would be much smoother if I could do this).I have all the latest drivers and firmware installed.I did find this thread that I thought might help me; Middle Mouse Button , however the screen shot at the bottom shows the Mouse Options on the Control Panel having a lot more option than it does for me, the only options I have are switching the left and right mouse buttons, double-click speed adjustment and ClickLock.The buttons assignment window that I get using the Razer software gives no more options other than to assign the forwards and backwards buttons ("Windows Button 4" and "Windows Button 5").
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden I can no longer open or close new tabs using the middle mouse click (clicking the scroll wheel) it doesn work in ie or in firefox. Also seems like it doesn't work on the desktop or any other application. I have'nt installed new updates or new programs, I don't have any "mouse software" like intellipoint. This affects both my wireless keyboard with built in trackball and a serperate wireless scrollmouse. The only think I can think of is that a few days ago I changed the the speed of my cursor.. of course this shouldn't have affected anything else.... but it is really annoying as I mostly use my computer for web browsing and always open links in new tabs..
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio laptop, maybe 2-2.5 years old. I let it install the updates earlier this afternoon and it needed to restart to finalize everything. I did not have it plugged up but thought there was plenty of battery life so I let it restart and went to do a couple things around the house. I was only gone 10-15 minutes but when I got back it was dead.
So I plugged it up and tried to power it back up. The VAIO screen comes up and then it goes straight to a black screen with a little blinking dash mark in the top left corner. The dash moves down 2 or 3 lines and then just sits there and blinks. I cannot get the computer to do anything else.
My screen display is changed after a windows update. It's not as crisp and bright as before but is a bit blurry and hurts the eye.I have re-installed the latest driver of NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS but with no changes...Device manager displays NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS under Display Adapters..I have fiddled with NVIDIA Control Panel with no good result.I tried doing system restore but i did not have any restore points created ever which is a FAIL...Moreover, when I check Screen Resolution, only display option is 1. Display device on: VGA .... Isn't this supposed to include NVIDIA options?Monitor driver SyncMaster 732NW is updated as well..

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter installing a few updates at once on the 12th, when I right-click on my desktop, the top-right of the menu appears at the cursor position. That's what normally happens when you are too close to the edge, but it happens all the time now.

For years I could open Task Mgr, and there were Tasks, Processes, etc, etc. all on tabs. Handy for looking at unlabeled tasks and seeing the processes that were running wild.Now, Task Manager has only that: Tasks. No tabs, no processes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy offline files seems to work offline all the time, even when it shows me being online. I sync most of my business files to my laptop for working at home at night. When I edit a file from my Win 7 (pro, 64-bit) laptop, then go to edit it again, I get the version I had changed, but no one else does. This is causing huge difficulty, because my employees will start working in a sales forecast spreadsheet after I reconnect to the network and supposedly sync, but they don't get the latest version. Even doing a manual sync seems to make no difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMost of today, my laptop was acting fine. But after I installed the updates, something odd happened. I rebooted it to finish the updates as is expected, and when it rebooted, I got a sort of blank screen with a toolbar but with an error message that said it couldn't connect to my Windows or something like that. The error said something about Win32 being moved possibly or something. Sorry that I can't recall all of it. I rebooted again and since that time, it's been fine, although that first reboot after the error did give me a "PERSONAL SETTINGS (NOT RESPONDING) square.Any idea what could cause something like that just once?Everything seems fine now. I'm running a Dell Inspiron laptop that's about 15mo old, Windows 7, all the latest service packs. I just went over a thorough virus scan with someone in the virus area about a week ago and all was clear,will run scans again soon, should I post there again?

Is it normal for some programs to launch quietly, do something, and then quickly close? I usually have Process Explorer open so I can monitor all running applications at all times, and this evening while my machine was idle, I noticed three programs pop up as daughter processes to services.exe. One of them was dllhost, but the other two I couldn't get a good look at. I'm pretty sure it was NOT the defrag, because that runs daughter to scvhost.exe
Anyhow, I'm just wondering, is there a list anywhere of what tasks launch themselves, what to look out for? MBAM and ESET's NOD32 say my system is clean, but programs running themselves without approval always makes me jittery.
basicy my system seems to just freez up when i do things..example i will be installing a program and it will hang. my harddrive led will constanly blink and my system wil become unresponsive and then suddenly it wil finish what it is doing.kind of like a delay but a very big one at that. this dose not seem to have any effect when i run a program like a game . I recently looked in event viewer and under in summery of ministrator events for 7 days it reports 363 errors,112 warnings,3,277 information and 702 audit success i dont no what all this meens and would like it if somone could hlep me ideintifi what is causing this problem.

To keep track of each version of a file, I make a copy and then rename it to include the last modified date. For example, if I'm going to edit bozo.html, I'll make a copy of the file (in the same directory) and rename it to bozo.2010.05.12.html . In Windows Explorer in Windows 7, if I right click on a file and drag and drop it in the same directory, I get a menu from which I select 'Copy here'. A copy of the file is created with the name 'bozo - Copy.html'. Is there any way to change this function to use the modified date of the file instead of ' - Copy' ?

If I change the focus to some other program, then click back in the Word document, I see a box where the mouse is currently located (not the cursor - have to click again to get that to move) which shows information pertaining to one of the data points in one of the Excel charts.If I move the mouse over the op-up box, is disappears until the mouse is moved out of the box. If I click anyplace in the document, the box goes away.I have been experiencing this behavior ever since Office 2010 was installed - I do not remember if this was an issue with Office 2003. I've had an intermittent problem which is that when printing mostly from word2010(use this for 98% of printing) the print job will restart in the middle of the job(I print from 300 to 50,000 page jobs 99% are mail merges)
PRINTER: SAVIN 9060 network connected(using the RCPS driver - because of the overlay capability)
I've watched the print que while merging/spooling/printing and it never does it as it is spooling/printing only after it is done spooling and it is VERY, VERY random In the print que it will say: printing 356/2,500 then it will say Error-Printing the printer pauses then it will just start over spooling/printing from the beginning again my SAVIN IT TECH(they could not re-create the problem on another win7pro 64bit computer) and I thought it could be the product of using older version word .docs.....so I starting converting them to word2010 .docs and it was still doing it so then I started re-typesetting some starting from scratch with a word 2010 .doc and still have the problem but still very random printer and print driver have been uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times did not help disabled on board parallel port(in BIOS), disabled Bi-directional printing no help before new computer I was running winxp pro.....word2000 with no problems at all I have one other issue also......when writing files out to a winXP pro network connected computer sometime the files will get truncated....again VERY, VERY random starting to wonder if the BIOS or the memory is flaky in this NEW computer

but it keeps coming up with a windows 7 open programs scrolling option in the middle of my screen... could someone advise me on how to remove it please.
The volume icon is on the taskbar at the bottom right, but when I press the volume buttons, only that icon is affected.
Usually, when you press the buttons a volume bar appears in the middle of the screen and tells you where the volume is. It does not appear now.
