Change Single Click To Double Click To Open Emails?
Jan 21, 2012
WLM opens emails with a single click rather than just selecting the email. The boxes selecting double click to open are checked. This box is in the folders section and may be for folders ouyside of WLM. I want single click to select and double click to open emails.
How do I get emails to single click to select and double click to open? All appropriate boxes in folder for this sequence are checked to no avail. Toshiba L745-S4310
I have Folder Options "Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)" is engaged but Start menu All Programs list is failing to accord - selecting on hover and opening on single click.
when i single click my mouse will be picky, its a 120 dollar mouse so it shouldnt be this picky, i have been noticing lately that my os has been being effected by games and programs like audacity, i change mic volume, it changes my mic volume PERMINANTLY, i change speaker volume, same thing, i have to go back to the program i changed it in and change it back, well now my mouse is double clicking for no reason when i sing click, this may be part of the reason.
I use a seperate SDD on which I play DCS World Games .Win7 is also on that disk as part of a dual boot but here it only serves to operate the games and ancilliaries. I have found that when clicking on 'Computer' in the Start Menu or the icon on Desktop ; there is no response and I cannot gain access to computer on on that disk.I have run various malware, anti virus programs but all seems clear I have formatted and reinstalled Win7 and the games from DCS. At first all was well but the problem has returned . I should have mentioned that last week the problen extended to 'Task Manager' ans 'Waste Basket' ; neither would open to a double click. The fact that the problem has returned makes me believe that a virus is high on the list of suspects but I cannot locate it[CODE]
Have had new computer for a few months. Mouse worked fine until a few days ago. Will open some things by "double click" and some things I have to right click and open. I installed a new mouse and have same problems. Haven't changed anything or installed any new hardware or software recently.
I can't make Windows explorer open MKV files with my default media player. I tried modifying KMPlayer's settings to associate MKV files with it, but had no effect. I tried:
- Right clicking a MKV file in an explorer window - Choosing "Open with > Select default program" from the context menu - In the opened "Open With" dialog box, browse to find kmplayer.exe, then select it - Click OK to return the dialog box - (At this step, I don't see kmplayer.exe is listed in the "Open With" dialog box) - Click OK to exit the "Open With" dialog box - To see that my media file is still opening with Windows Media Player
Why doesn't windows associate MKV files with my selected EXE file?
Like my title read, I can't open any folders in my Windows Explorer with a double click. It gives me the error message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." This also happens whenever I try to open any drives, such as C: drive. I can however run programs from Windows Explorer, and can right click, then choose open to open folders.
I have already done extensive searching on the subject, tried deleting autorun.ini files, tried some registry fixes, with no luck. I'm obviously running Windows 7, 32-bit, on a HP desktop.
The .pdf and .rtf associations are set correctly to Adobe Reader and Wordpad but double-click or enter only responds by opening Windows Explorer. The right-click context menu lists "Open with Adobe Reader X" correctly and certainly works but is not how I'm used to working for the last however many years .pdf has been around.
I had hoped that if I could somehow get Adobe Reader into the Default Programs list and that that would help. However, Wordpad IS listed in my Default Programs and is set for .rtf and .docx but double-clicking .rtf does not respond by opening WordPad, only Windows Explorer.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT has Persistent Handler and ShellEx settings for .pdf but I don't know for sure if these are the relevant keys.
I'm also amazed (well, not really...) that MS apparently has no system for people to report bugs, only a system to take your money to (hopefully?)
After installing IE9 from windows updates , can't open a folder or a hard disk by double clicking . Googling the problem found that there is a change in Registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Microsft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer/MountPoints2 which probably affected by virus .The hard disk was full scanned four times by Ad-Aware , Spyware doctors , AVG and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and found nothing . I deleted the MountPoints2 in Registry but after restarting appeared again . As a solution of this problem I used the Restore point created by IE9 installation and return to IE8 and everything is Ok . The probable conclusion is that the virus must be installed in the new Registry created by the IE9 installation or is triggering by the IE9 installation since there is no problem with IE8 . By-passing windows updates and downloading IE9 from Microsoft Download center would be usefull?
I've decided to open programs on my desktop by single clicking, but when I hover over the icon, it underlines like a webpage. what I want to do is get rid of the underline when I hover over the desktop icons when I single click to open.
I just got a new computer in the office, and it uses windows7 (professional edition, placed in domain...)The setting is at single click, and i cannot change it to double click. I even see that the double click option is activated and the single click option is grayed out...I tried the tutorial of the forum (even the registry donwload - Single-Click or Double-Click to Open an Item) but no result.
I have a Dell Inspiron running on windows 7 and lately everytime I try to double click on any icon or program a windows pops up saying "Are you sure you want to move this item/program to the recycle bin?", and it keeps opening windows with the same message for a while. Does anybody has a possible solution for this problem?. I have avg antivirus running, spybot and another program, none have found anything wrong in the laptop.
I have a recent installation of Windows 7 Professional 3 weeks ago.The past 2 days, Word 2007 will not open when i double click a .docx document from Explorer. For a couple of seconds a 'spinning wheel' is displayed...and then nothing.I went to Control Panel, Defaults, and checked the Application for .docx and it is Word. The strange thing is that sometimes it does work.I am clicking very fast And Windows 7 does display the spinning wheel for a second or two.
The only way I seem to be able to launch a program is to right click and select "Run as Administrator". This odd behavior only happens on a system I have designated as my media server. It is a P4 3.06Ghz w/4 GB Memory, Hyper Threading, and ~ 4 TB of storage. I am running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. I've checked my mouse settings and internet options and don't see anything out of the ordinary as compared to my other Win 7 systems which work normally.
It began acting strangely about 4 to 6 weeks ago after a massive Windows Update. Windows Update crashed in the middle of the update and began what seemed at first to be a endless reboot loop to install the updates which invariably failed.
I was just about to pull the plug and rebuild the system from scratch when it finally booted up saying all the updates were successful!?!? However, since that time programs will only launch when I right click and select "Run as Administrator". Double clicking either program shortcuts or registered file types starts the "busy" indicator but it stops after a few seconds with no action. For the programs I use on that system most often it's not a problem. However, there are some program file types like ".msi" where "Run as Administrator" is not on the "right click" options menu. I can't do anything with them.
the problem is when i double click any file to open it, it always change to delete the file and something like this come out.."are you sure you want to move this file to Recycle Bin?" and it come out multiple time.i am using hp mini and i already format it, but the same problem still happen.
Tried lots of things, using regedit, going into the folders features my "Folder Options" ARE set to "Open each folder in same window"
my windows 7 ultimate 64bit refuses to do this though... tried lots of things... also internet explorer not opening just, turned IE off waiting to reboot, may be related idk. THIS is a really big annoyance... just 2 days ago when I double clicked a folder in explorer.exe it would open in SAME window
tried system restore, tried Cmd prompt thing... what may have happened is that I recently was uninstalling things... umm made sure this was a software thing ... defaulted my laptop's touchpad used other mouses and still same result.
As the thread title states my recycle bin in Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit displays empty and shows that it can't be emptied in the context menu, even right after I finish deleting something as simple as a 1KB .txt file. And it doesn't update it's status with a refresh, only when I double click the recycle bin on the desktopIt's never done this before and just started happening (as far as I'm concerned) randomly a few days ago. I've google searched and found nothing except the trick everyone knows about adding ,0 to the end of the registry for custom icons. But unfortunately this does not solve my problem as it's not just the icon that displays empty but the bin itself. have also noticed it's been doing it mostly after I wake my computer up from Sleep/Hibernation but not when I restart my computer after noticing the problem.
i have windows 7 x64 and trying to install winpcap 4.1.2. but when i double click WinPcap_4_1_2.exe it says winpcap 4.1.2 stopped responding and will make a report to windows team.anything i do wrong? i even tried to stop my antivirus and windows firewall.
Does anyone know of a program that allows for you to single-click eject a USB hub and which will eject all the devices connected to it safely? As I understand you can set the policies of the individual devices such that you dont have to do the "Safe Eject" anyways. But Id like a way to just eject the hub instead of ejecting the 2 drives I have connected to it.
Touch pad on laptopHoovering over an item opens it.What happened to double click.I have restored defaults in folder options, mouse propertiesand ease of accsess center.External mouse via usb port works perfect?
I seem to have a problem, it keeps happening all the time with my Laptop. 4 times I have reinstalled to get rid of this error, and it has happened a 5th time! I log on and my mouse speed is slow and double click is disabled! I looked around in mouse settings and it doesn't show anything about it...
not only on win7 but other versions, different hardware etc, you cannot tell when you double click an icon if it actually launched the application.
slowing down mouse double click in the control panel helps somewhat but how can i get a solid reliable indicator that the double click was heard by windows.
am i the only one who is being driver insane by this common deficiency?

We have xen desktop in our office with win7 O.S installed. The issue is that all the files and folders opens on single click instead of double click. I checked the files and folder property and found, double click is greyed out. Please let me know how to fix this issue. We want to have double click activated for all the win7 machines
I have a strange problem that has been occurring since I very first installed Windows 7 x64 fresh. Whenever I click on the primary C drive in Explorer (or any other CD, card reader, or network mapped drive), sometimes 1 new window will open up, sometimes 2 new windows will open up, and sometimes 3 new windows will open up. The new windows usually, but not always, have an address bar. Explorer just seems to randomly open multiple windows at will.
I've been searching and searching online, trying various Tools->Folder Options as well as registry settings, but nothing seems to work. All I've found is a couple other forum posts with the same problem (random amount of multiple windows opening), but no resolutions.
This doesn't happen on any of my other Windows 7 x64 computers. The main difference I can think of is that this is the only machine I have with an SSD, but I can't see how that would effect all drives in Explorer.
Since yesterday when I single click on an item it opens the item instead of selecting it.This is affecting Excel, e-mail, everything. I've already gone to; Start>folder options>General. I have tried to restore the defaults and have chosen double click to open and item/single to select and applied this setting (even though it was already selected). I continue to have the problem. I've also already tried a different mouse.
