Second Hand PCs What To Connect To Non Existent Old Domain?
Jan 15, 2013
I have 6 PCs which I got off a friend who wound up his business. The machines are set up to logon to the old now none existent domain. When I switch on the machines the typical set up is this
CS-PC08
password:
I have no passwords, Switch user, none available, I do have an option to log on to another domain.
To Logon to another domain enter domainuser
To Logon locally it says, enter CS-PC08local user name
I have no password or user names.I cannot boot in safe mode or in safe mode with command prompt without encountering a logon screen.I have downloaded Password Unlocker and whilst this allows me to change passwords and add users I still get the same logon screen and none of my new user names or changed passwords help.I have no disks so cant do a reinstall.
I have a laptop that has been attached to a domain that is no longer available. It will not let me logon any other way but a non admin / non domain user account.
Admin password is lost. Can I use something like Nordahl to access that admin account? Domain or not?
I have a Windows 7 PC that's joined to a domain. The network location says "Domain network" and cannot be changed. According to Microsoft, you must set your location to "Home" in order to be able to join a computer to an already existing HomeGroup. My advanced sharing settings for both Home and Domain (domain being the current profile) show all the sharing and discovery settings enabled. HomeGroup Listener and HomeGroup Provider services are started. My Windows Firewall is enabled. I can connect to \computername of my HomeGroup computers. However, I cannot join the HomeGroup. It says "There is currently no homegroup on your network." [URL]I verified the group policy settings do not prohibit me from changing my network location from Domain to Home so that I may join a HomeGroup. However, I still cannot click on "Domain network" in order to change it to Home. How can I join this computer to the HomeGroup?
So I reinstalled my copy of Windows 7 a couple months back cause it was getting cluttered w/ crap that I wasn't comfortable with. That includes the Removable Disk drive E: that one day decided to place itself on "My Computer". I have no idea what the hell it is or why it's there. I'm extremely pissed because recently i plugged in a jump drive that i shuttle between here and school and discovered 6 high-risk viruses on it...
[wayyyy to go on keeping our school's network protected... dumbass IT guys that our broke school clearly don't pay enough] Norton removed them but I can't help to think (maybe it's in my head) that my comp is getting touchier and slower. So where did this drive E: come from and why cant i "remove" this non existent peripheral. Should I be worried?
As the title says, there is no OptionalFeatures.exe in my System32 folder. I recently let a friend of mine install 7 on my laptop (I have been on XP since its launch). I need to run networking from this machine to the other computers in the house (1 Mac and one on XP) to share files between, but I can't as there is no medium to do so.Is there any way to obtain a fresh copy of OptionalFeatures.exe without having to do a complete reinstall of the OS?
I am using Samba 3.5.8 and I am trying to join a Windows 7 64Bit laptop to my domain.
HP Pavillion dv6 Intel core i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz 2.40Ghz 4.00 GB RAM
However when I try join the domain i get the following message:"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MYDOMAIN"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. If I do a nslookup it resolves the domain controller, as well if i watch the traffic I can only see UDP traffic on that IP, however i can still browse the web from it?
I have two domains, company.com and [URL] i need to be able to access the wifi that is on [URL] from a laptop that is joined to [URL]? im running win 7 pro 32 bit with the following security on the [URL] domain wifi
I need to down load my Sony Hand cam to Windows ultimate 7 so that I can email video clips, but I can't find the right software or drivers. The handy cam come up when I connect using the USB but it wont show the video clips just the pictures
On my wife's laptop (i3 350 cpu) running Windows 7HP (Sp1 - UK ver.) The second hand on the gadget clock jerks around. It jumps between about 5 and 10 seconds at a time. I have run Norton & Malwarebytes' scans; replaced gadget settings; reloaded the clock; etc. but all to no avail. The whole process of adding and adjusting Gadgets appears to take longer than it should. At one stage gadgets were using the whole of one core! It appears that something in the background is slowing the gadgets up. I have gone into the Control Panel "Date & Time" and the second hand on the clock there works perfectly.
#1 - - - My 10 key button area isn't operational & the "NUM LOCK" button doesn't seem to help.
#2 - - - I have a password & a fingerprint reader that I can use either way, to access my PC. Quite recently, I burned all five of my R hand digits used to ID myself to the machine. How would I delete these fingerprints & replace them with all five of my L hand fingers?
My daughter was using my MSI laptop and when she tried to start the computer all that came up was a black screen with the cursor in the upper left corner. She selected the restore option which came up because the other options would not do anything. Is there any possible way to recover my files, pics, etc. or is it just gone now?
I've searched around for several weeks for a solution to this problem and have not yet found a solution that works for me...
I am running Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) on an extremely capable PC, but now, every time I start the machine up I get a completely black screen with cursor, and in the bottom right hand corner is the watermark,
"Windows 7100
This copy of Windows is not genuine."
I believe I know what caused this. When I first got the RC, I downloaded one of those patches that removes the watermark (Yes, I know I was stupid and shouldn't have ) and for awhile, everything worked fine. Then I found the above watermark sitting regularly on my desktop, as well as some "This copy of windows not genuine" Pop-ups from MS, so I clicked on resolve, and the MS website just said something to the tune of "This Windows OS is not yet supported" or something like that.
So I didn't pursue the problem any further. Now, every once in a blue moon it will let me access the desktop. When it does, everything is extremely slow, I can't use command prompt, and when I open control panel to look at my CD Key or to check that it is activated, in the spot where my CD Key should be, instead there is just this: ---
Sooo, I need to know how to re-activate Windows so I can actually use the computer again. Also, I can give any information you guys need. I really hope I can get this resolved soon, it has just been such a hassle.
I have in my WPM 12 library where if an album has songs with two different file types they get there own album with the file type on the icon (for example I have Circus Animals by Cold Chisel shown twice one being m4a file type and the other mp3 file type). I have before fixed it so the file type is removed and all songs go in the one album but have forgotten how to do. How to change it?

My dell inspiron 537 decided to completely stop working it has a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the left corner Alls I wanna do is get into the start up menu only options I get are f2 and f12 which are useless.
the print icon that previously was located at the upper left hand corner is no longer their or anywhere that I can locate. Yesterday I was getting messages that my wireless was not connected. that may be ok noq..I printed a statement..however no print icon?
When I turn on the screen of my PC I get weird shapes all over the screen. Some of them are coloured, some are grey but they appear on all programmes, including a Word blank page and the desktop page. Some of them flash, some of them change shape, ut they are all pixel shaped within the boxes. There are also some strange 'squiggly' marks on the screen. When I opened Windows mail, the left hand side of the screen was completely black and it didn't show any of my messages. As I'm typing this message, I've got grey boxes which change shape as I type and it's covering some of the text.
just last night after i was finished playing skyrim for the night, i saw on steam that i had no connection. so i looked towards the internet bars icon next to the clock and saw a yello triangle with a "!" in it. so i disconnected and reconnected but still the yellow "!". so i just decided i would try again tomorrow (today).when i woke up today it didn't have that error, so i decided to go to Internet on chrome, but it had that "webpage not available" (wouldn't work for ie either). i figured it would soon fix itself like it always had, so i tried playing mw3 on my xbox, but it wouldn't connect to live either o.o and when my mom wanted to watch netflix on the living room xbox, she couldn't connect either! then i figured out it was definatly my modem that was refusing to connect to anything.
We have a user who works remotely from home.I would like to add his machine to our domain (as we do in the office) so that he can log in and operate as if he was here.
Lately my pc on work have been joined into a domain, there is no third party software installed at my pc at all. Does that mean that they can know what i am opening or browsing or how much traffic is on my pc like downloading.
I have several machines running Windows 7 64 bit, on which I am running the XP Mode VM. Both the host and the vm are connected to the Domain. I have been having problems where a person will be logged into the vm, then minimize it to work on other things. When they try to get back on the vm, they have to log back in, but are informed that they domain cannot be reached. The only way I have been able to solve this is to un-join the vm from the domain, then rejoin it to the domain. The vm will be in hibernation when the login attempt is made. Is there a setting I need to make to keep this problem from happening
Can anyone advise how I would go about fixing this. I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.
