Stuck Without Admin Password Or Ability To Connect To Domain
May 16, 2012
I have a laptop that has been attached to a domain that is no longer available. It will not let me logon any other way but a non admin / non domain user account.
Admin password is lost. Can I use something like Nordahl to access that admin account? Domain or not?
actually i put a server, and to create one system as a domain member , that was not installed properly that why i delete this active directory and reinstall and to make a domain members except that system
I'm trying to run a script at the end of sysprep that will add a Domain group to the local Admins group. I found a few scripts while searching around, but none will work for my application.
This is what I have so far.
Code :SET objNet = CREATEOBJECT("WScript.Network" )' Set the user you want to make local administrator herestrUser = "<username here>"strNetBIOSDomain = objNet.UserDomainstrComputer = objNet.ComputerNameSET objGroup = GETOBJECT("WinNT://" & strComputer & "/Administrators,group" )SET objUser = GETOBJECT("WinNT://" & strNetBIOSDomain & "/" & strUser & ",user" )' ignore error if user is already a member of the groupON ERROR RESUME NEXTobjGroup.Add(objUser.ADsPath)ON ERROR GOTO 0
The problem I'm having is that I need to be able to provide a username and password of a domain admin so that it can authenticate. how to do this when I try to add the user.
When joining a set of laptops to the domain it prompts for domain admin credentials and appears to be successful, but gives an error of 'Changing the Primary Domain DNS name of this computer to " " failed. The name will remain domain.local The error was: The RPC Server is unavailable.
When attempting to add Domain Users to the local administrators group: Windows cannot process the object with the name "domain users" because of the following error: The RPC server is unavailable.
This happens even when wired on the network. I have tried uncommenting the localhost line in HOSTS, and manually adding the DNS server (which is also the DC).
we upgraded from sbs2003 server to sbs2008 server. We removed the pc from the old domain and then added it to the new domain. Something went wrong after we joined the new domain it doesn't see the new domain for login and the local Administrator account has been disabled. The only account available is the guest account. Is there a way to enable the local administrator account again?
I have 6 PCs which I got off a friend who wound up his business. The machines are set up to logon to the old now none existent domain. When I switch on the machines the typical set up is this
CS-PC08 password:
I have no passwords, Switch user, none available, I do have an option to log on to another domain.
To Logon to another domain enter domainuser
To Logon locally it says, enter CS-PC08local user name
I have no password or user names.I cannot boot in safe mode or in safe mode with command prompt without encountering a logon screen.I have downloaded Password Unlocker and whilst this allows me to change passwords and add users I still get the same logon screen and none of my new user names or changed passwords help.I have no disks so cant do a reinstall.
my previous pc running on win 7 when i type \server it prompts me for a username and a password and now i bought a laptop same OS win 7 when i type \server it does ask for a username and a password but it view all the folders on the \server the problem is i can't open it.
So a new box recently built, when booted, defaults to the local administrator account. This is a Windows 7 machine for a Linux guru that doesn't want to be bothered pressing more buttons than is necessary, if you get my drift. So my question is, after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del...how do I dictate to Windows that the preferred used is "HisDomainAccount" on our company domain, as opposed to the local admin account?
I basically had 3 accounts on my computer, one being "Administrator" (w Admin rights), one "test" (Standard User rights) and one more "User" that is the one I use most frequently (with Admin rights). When I last used it last Friday the User account was still present and all my programs were working fine.
However, when I came back to office today, I found that the User account was missing from the welcome screen, and only the "Administrator" and "test" account were there. Somehow, I could not login to the "Administrator" account. When I logged into the "test" account, all the program shortcuts were blank (Firefox, Adobe Reader Etc) and only IE and the default windows programs would work. I suspected that there might be a virus, but I couldn't install anything because I did not have the admin privileges.
My question is: 1. How do I get back into my admin account? 2. is there any way to install anti-virus programs (by going around the admin account) to solve this issue?
I'm basically stuck with a standard user account and I can't do anything with it. I tried using System Restore on the Standard account, but when I click "Open System Restore" nothing happens.
our school has been given some machines to our school they have window 7 on them an a domain login comes up when you start the how do I get ready of this password.
I have a Windows 7 PC that's joined to a domain. The network location says "Domain network" and cannot be changed. According to Microsoft, you must set your location to "Home" in order to be able to join a computer to an already existing HomeGroup. My advanced sharing settings for both Home and Domain (domain being the current profile) show all the sharing and discovery settings enabled. HomeGroup Listener and HomeGroup Provider services are started. My Windows Firewall is enabled. I can connect to \computername of my HomeGroup computers. However, I cannot join the HomeGroup. It says "There is currently no homegroup on your network." [URL]I verified the group policy settings do not prohibit me from changing my network location from Domain to Home so that I may join a HomeGroup. However, I still cannot click on "Domain network" in order to change it to Home. How can I join this computer to the HomeGroup?
Not sure if it was a virus, spyware, or hacker, but something wiped out all of the passwords in windows 7 professional. I am signed in with a standard user account with no password. I've attempted to use different software such as <software name removed>, and password pro to retrieve passwords, but neither of them can find the SAM or any accounts with passwords. This system is on a peer to peer network and is being used as the server. Is there anything I can do to get admin rights back and get logged in as the administrator?
ok so i was messing around in the control prompt (cmd) menu and i came across the password change option. i didnt think i changed it but apparently i did. no i cannot log on to my user account which is administrator. i have no reset disc and no other acount. what can i do?
A techie friend set up my son's mini notebook which has Windows 7. I failed to write down my Admin password, so now I cannot add software, etc. Can someone please give me an easy way to fix this problem. I did read some other threads and tried to restart the computer, press F8 and proceed in safe mode but it did nothing
I just bought this computer from someone off craigs list and I cant access the admin password. I don't have a cd to download windows. How can I bypass it?
The problem is that I had setup a domain on my laptop and then changed to home computer on windows 7 machine. It gave me a message that changes will come to effect after restart the machine, which I did. When it restarted it is asking me for admin password, which I don't remember and docent allow me to change the userid so that I can log back ( it shows admin I'd on the screen which I can't change).
Now I can't log back and have lot of important stuff on my laptop , don't want to reinstall and don't have a reset cd also

When my partner set up my brand new PC he set up an account in my name, so there are now two accounts on the machine, Admin and Mine. I can use my account for most daily things, but I need to be the Administrator because I don't have rights to do some stuff. Problem is he's forgot the Admin password .... so I can't log in as the Admin. What can I do? How do I change this password?
I restarted my computer because it was acting slow and funny. when i tried to log in to my account the password didnt work anymore. i ended up just rebooting my whole computer. seems to work fine now.

I recently changed the password of my admin account on my computer but when I then tried to log in with the new password it didn't work, i even tried my old and it didn't work either. I also have a guest account which i can access without any password. Is there any way to solve this problem from the guest account, without having to reinstall the whole windows? By the way, I don't have admin privileges on the guest account and I'm running Windows 7 x32 if someone wonders.
