I have this problem with Asus p5q3 motherboard my system temp goes up to 60-70(celsius) and cpu (intel core 2 quad q9550) temp is low as 30-40(celsius). So how can system temp be that high?
How to set the weather gadget on windows 7 that is on my desktop to read my home place. At the moment it shows london but i am in norwich (about 100 miles away from london).
On my wife's laptop (i3 350 cpu) running Windows 7HP (Sp1 - UK ver.) The second hand on the gadget clock jerks around. It jumps between about 5 and 10 seconds at a time. I have run Norton & Malwarebytes' scans; replaced gadget settings; reloaded the clock; etc. but all to no avail. The whole process of adding and adjusting Gadgets appears to take longer than it should. At one stage gadgets were using the whole of one core! It appears that something in the background is slowing the gadgets up. I have gone into the Control Panel "Date & Time" and the second hand on the clock there works perfectly.
Is there a windows 7 gadget for controlling the display time out?
Getting tired of going right click > personalize > Screen Saver > Change Power Settings > Change Plan Settings > Then changing my screen time out from 10 minutes to x amount of time for watching movies.
If you know of any and can provide a link I would be much obliged.
I've reformatted my system an lost the only gadget I ever liked
I installed it from another site but unable to find it again, it's similar to the multimeter but there are more readings and it came without any need to modify or customize, there are image icons down the left side, CPU, RAM, disk drives etc... with meters by the side and there's even one for the bin that turns red when there's anything in.
It even had a radio button where it would I Imagine lock in to regional radio stations.
I have just moved from Beta to RC and while it looked like everything is OK, I'm having this strange problem where my Weatherbug and XM gadgets will not work UNLESS I connect to a VPN. I have disabled the firewall, purged the DNS cache, disabled / re-enabled the NICs, but the problem remains. I have tried this on multiple networks on both my Ethernet and wireless connections (Dell D630 notebook) and get the same result. Any ideas? I'm not even sure where to start looking!
One more thing: I did perform an upgrade install from Beta x64 to RC x64 instead of the "demanded" clean install.
my computer is old and has small hard drive space, and someone recommended I delete my %temp%, my temp, and my prefetch folder, but I was just wondering, since I had to do a whole lot of searching ,and downloading of drivers, (just to make my computer compatible with windows 7), where all my downloaded drivers are? And if deleting any of these folders will screw up my drivers, and give me problems, and I would have to find the drivers again.
(Also I don't really know what the drivers are called, so I can't really search for them) Because I really wanna delete these folders to make my computer faster, because on XP, where my drivers always worked and I never needed to update them, I deleted those folders all the time, and it made it faster because those folders had a crapload of stuff in them, but I don't want my computer to not be compatible with the games/videos/music/etc. I use it for.
i have just finished a remote assist with Microsoft to try to resolve a problem i am having with my win 7 os. It appears from my trolling the forums that it is not an uncommon scenario. As i use my machine i see the memory monitor gadget showing more and more usaage of ram until finally i get a "not enough resources to run application" prompt.
The guy from microsoft cleared my cookies, my prefetch files, google toolbar etc without effect. He suggested that some of my optimising utilities could be the problem until i explained that i had installed the to try to CURE the problem. He finally cleared off without saying anymore and i was left a link if i wanted to resume the chat support. This link didn't work. Any comments would be great.
In my Windows TEMP folder I have noticed a new folder named CDM. This folder contains another folder named PList, which contains 107 files named PList0 upto PList106.The CDM folder can be deleted but will eventually reappear.
I created a Ramdisk and moved all my different browser cache(Opera FF, IE) to it. I moved the IE Cache using tools>options>bowsing history settings>move folder The cache is being saved to all of them including the IE, but the IE folder is always empty. How do I get it to show me the folders
I think its a serious problem, but something is writing huge files into my WindowsTemp folder TMP0000000789F2D108048D0CAD is an example of a filename. Its roughly around 4 gigs. The problem is causing my netbook to be very slow and I suppose it harms the HD as well.It writes until space free is very little. Goes away after a long time and does cleanup again. But is very annoying.
Windows 7: ComputerLocal Disk C:WindowsTemp Folder Have a series of SQM extension files fwtsqmfile00.sqm to fwtsqmfile19.sqm
Some have mentioned that these files are associated with Windows Live or Windows Messenger. I have entered Windows Live or Windows Messenger in Start (Search programs & files) & have not found them. I have looked under Turn Windows Features On & Off. Still have not found Windows Messenger.
I recently had a problem with reformatting a partition. It was solved by relocating the pagefile.sys.
Now whenever I boot upon login it says the system has made a temp pagefile system. I try adjusting the size of the pagefile system to much more, less, or equal to amount of ram (4gb). Doesn't seem to solve it.
dropbox has stopped working too; it seems like that malfunction may be related to the pagefilesys
since about two weeks ago, every two times I power my laptop on, windows fails to load the my user profile and greets me with the temp user profile where I can't access my files and such. however, if I reboot after that it loads my user profile sucessfully. but if I reboot again It loads the temp profile. I scanned unsing My antivirus, and it turned up no bad results. I then tried a disk check, but it only was on for less then 5 seconds when it just said "the disk is clean." i'm not sure what to do now. any suggestions? it's really irritataing having to constantly reboot every time i turn my laptop on.
Is there an automatic temp files clean-out process in Windows 7? Every once in a while I noticed that my hard drive is somehow automatically purged of about 30 gigs of data, so all of a sudden I have roughly 30 gigabytes more hard drive space available that the last time. I checked, but I haven't trashed any files.
I'm wondering if there is some kind of automatic temp files clean-out process that Windows 7 goes through at certain times. Or could this be related to an automatic disk defragmentation? My defragmentation is set to run once a week, but I've only seen the 30 gigs or so open up about three or four times in the last year.
And if there is a process by which Windows 7 automatically "cleans house" to open up this much hard drive space, is there a way to do it manually without throwing away any of my normal files?
I'm looking for advise on what steps I can perform on one of my computers, in order to properly consolidate and move all my ( temp, cache, etc. ) files onto a faster drive I just recently installed.
I recently ran across a couple of 74Gb Western Digital Raptor drives (WD740) in my garage and wanted to integrate one of them into my computer that I use to store my DVD backups on (etc), with the hopes of increasing system performance without having to perform a complete system reinstall.
Also money is a concern; or else I would just get a Solid State Drive.
This computer is running 64bit Win 7 Home Premium I have 8Gb ram installed. The Raptor is formatted and assigned drive letter (Z:).
