Even though I have reset the virtual's clock, and UNticked the option to take time from the internet, moments after I reset it, it reverts to "it's own" incorrect time. How can I lock-in the time to the correct value ?
View 6 Repliesi'm running a windows 7 home premium 64 bit, and for some movies, the video will start in-sync for about 40 minutes, then slowly get farther and farther out of sync, making watching the video un-watchable after another 10 minutes. but it does not do this with all video types. it also does not do this with netflix, Internet, or anything else online.
i'm running a geforce gtx 660m, all drivers are up to date. the files that work are: mp4, files that don't work are: mkv, avi
those are the only files i have tried. it's done this since i got this computer a couple months ago
I upgraded to Windows 7, but I have a few software I installed on Virtual PC 2007 before. I use XP mode but can't find a way to use the virtual HD created with Virtual PC 2007. Is there a way to convert the virtual HD so that XP mode can recognize?

View 0 Replies View RelatedGot a new Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit machine, found that it did not come with virtual PC. Downloaded the critical patch Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu and installed it. Windows Virtual PC shows up in my Start Menu. Good so far. I go through the steps to create a virtual machine and use the option to 'use an existing vhd file' and when I click 'Create' I get the above pop-up message "Cannot attach the virtual hard disk to the virtual machine. Check values and try again". A factual message but completely useless as with all error messages from Microsoft. I have tried the following:1. When I attach that vhd using Disk Management, it mounts in drive E:, I can see the files and browse the dirs in E:. In the Disk Management View, the drive shows up as 127 Gigs but 107 is unallocated space. The physical size of the vhd is only 25 Gigs2. Others in my company were able to create the virtual machine with the same vhd, checked the byte size and timing, so nothing is wrong with the vhd file itself.
3. Tried to create after shutting down all virus protection including the Micorsoft antimalware protection service. No luck4. Tried Vhd resize to resize the vhd to a smaller size (since it showed up in disk management as 127 Gigs, I thought maybe it was that size), but VHDResizer could not open the input file, gave an errors "Can only load fixed or dynamic drives"

I'm interested to know whether its possible to disable the system clock? We all know applications and websites can get access to our time zone, etc. I often use anonymous browser clients such as TOR & JonDo to protect my online privacy. For example, I might be set an IP address in Russia, but live in America. The thing is - websites can still access our time zone on the computer so they will I'm not in Russia but actually in xxxx state in America. I don't want to change the time to something random as I've heard this can destabilize the computer and its applications. So is it possible to disable it? If not - is there a browser configuration to block access to it? I did attempt running it under Sandboxie but that doesn't work either.

I found that the clock time does not set to new time even if I change it, after a minute or to it automatically reverts back to false settings. I tried changing it by clicking the clock time on the right bottom corner and changed it to current time. In internet time tab of change time and date setting window, it is set to time.windows.com. Is there anything I could do to set it right? What is the reason of this behaviour?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my wife's laptop (i3 350 cpu) running Windows 7HP (Sp1 - UK ver.) The second hand on the gadget clock jerks around. It jumps between about 5 and 10 seconds at a time. I have run Norton & Malwarebytes' scans; replaced gadget settings; reloaded the clock; etc. but all to no avail. The whole process of adding and adjusting Gadgets appears to take longer than it should. At one stage gadgets were using the whole of one core! It appears that something in the background is slowing the gadgets up. I have gone into the Control Panel "Date & Time" and the second hand on the clock there works perfectly.

I got this sexy pc my man built me less than a year ago and it's been working fine (or maybe I haven't noticed before) but in the past few months the clock is resetting every time[i] I reboot. It seems to lose time over a couple hours of just being turned on as well. It's a very stealthy process so I haven't actually seen it do it, but all of a sudden I'll be late for work again, and blaming my pc has become a lame excuse. I've read topics on this, my motherboard battery is dead, but it's not only on reboots as it happens every day and I barely ever turn it off. Anyway. If it is the mb battery, how do I find this out? It's my gaming pc if that matters in any way and my motherboard is the hot Sabertooth x58. I'm running windows 7 ultimate.

If I try to launch sidebar.exe, it will appear as shown in picture. If I close this window, sidebar.exe will be terminated as well. I've tried deleting the gadget cache but it seems not working.

This takes up so much space especially when u have multiple toolbars, address bar etc @ the top not 2 mention the additional loss of space (of nothingness) @ the top. Leaves less working space than I'm happy with. How do I gain back the use of that half inch in the taskbar?Is it possible 2 gain back the lost area @ the top as well?.I have already gone to Properties and changed the settings there (use small icons). It made no difference at all.
