There is a windows message coming up on the middle of the screen every 5 minutes or so, warning that the "Dell Support Centre" has stopped working and that it will look for a solution. So what can I do to disable this annoyance or even all the "Not working" warnings since they are useless to me anyway

10-27 I reformatted my hard drive. Well, even before then, though, when I'm composing an email the cursor stops and it seems to freeze. I need to wait 8-10 seconds or so for the cursor to reappear. Whatever I have typed prior to it freezing (or whatever) gets typed out once it reappears, but something is not right here.Any advice?

Every time I boot my PC with the speakers on, some annoying 8-bit sounding music plays whenever the login screen opens up, before I entered my password.I've tried running a malwarebytes scan but it didn't find anything. I don't remember installing anything that would cause it, and I haven't rebooted it in a while so I have no clue when it was added to my system.

So I recently assembled my new pc. I watched and read lots of tutorials, followed guides word to word and the system booted on the first time. Everything was GREAT until I got my Intel SSD a week later... I installed a fresh copy of win7 64-bit on the SSD, formatted the hard drive I was using before and assigned it to a special folder to keep my movies/games/music.
And then the freezes started. It's unlike any kind of freezing up I've ever seen. I can NEVER recover from them. If I'm doing something CPU-demanding, installing a game/copying lots of files/etc, that specific application just freezes up and whatever program I try to use afterward freezes up too! This is my first time using win7 and it's not turning out to be an enjoyable experience... I remember on XP if some program froze, I would just alt-tab to another one and continue my work until the lag is gone, and that on a low-budget system too. But when I get these lags, EVERYTHING stops working. For the first few times, I thought it was just your everyday windows fail, but this keeps on happening and starting to be annoying because I can't save anything and the only option I have to get around these freezes is to push the reset button.
I haven't tested my system yet for stability (installed the SSD yesterday) but planning on running memtest86+ over the night and super-pi maybe and see if it shows anything (although I have a feeling it's not gonna show anything). So far I've only installed basic programs (nod32, MS office, itunes, spybot, daemon tools, msn, hardware drivers...) and the system is up-to-date.
I strongly believe that these lags are somehow related to the SSD installation because I haven't had this kind of lag when I had my OS on the hard drive and these freezes often occur when I install things in the folder I assigned the HD to. But they also happen on random occasions, like when I try to open a program from the taskbar...
Here are my components:
i5 CPU
XFX 5850 GPU
Intel X-25M Postville 80gb SSD
2x2gb g.skill gbrh ddr3-1333 (changed the timings to 7-7-7-21 in bios as instructed) RAM
WD caviar black 640gb HD
MSI P55-GD80 MOBO
Samsung sh-s223b DVD writer
Antec cp-850 PSU
Antec p183 CASE
Win7 ultimate 64-bit OS
As you can see this rig SHOULD be able to run most demanding applications, although I have only worked with XP in the past so I don't know how much the OS affects this. I already played CoD: MW2 on this and it was flawless so I have a hard time believing that my system is just too "weak" for my purposes... and so I turn to you guys. I think this is all the info I can provide, let me know if you need more.

I've just installed Windows 7 SP1. When I open up and use any USB I get a bubble warning:"This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB port. For a list of available ports click here."There is a box to tick that is supposed to stop this annoying pop-up but it does not seem to work.

I just installed Windows 7 on a brand new DIY build. It works great except EVERYTIME I start up the computer I get a small window in the middle of the screen that has this at the top: Msg, and a sentence in the window that reads "Your version is the latest version." I then press "OK" and it disappears. How do I get this to quit appearing on start up?"

Everytime I open IE 8 I get this sound that is so annoying and I have had a hard time explaining the sound so I recorded it.I am not sure if it is IE 8 or the sites I go to but I open by default to Google. If I go to Apple's website the sound repeats over and over again but on most it only happens when I open my browser.

On my new PC with Windows 7 I logged in as administrator, created a folder "Portable Programs", installed my portable programs and data into it, set up Synctoy 2.1 to synchronise it with whatever portable device I like to use (sometimes I need a portable harddisk, sometimes a USB stick is more practical).
When I connected my portable device to an XP Home computer (in desperate need of data) the "Portable Programs" folder was there but it looked empty. XP was not able to run chkdsk.
Back home I saw that there was a lock symbol on this folder. I looked into the security settings, saw System and Administrator with limited rights and no other user or guest rights. All files inside the folder looked still disappeared. After changing access rights they were back and fully accessible... but will they still be on any other computer. I'd like to be sure before any next unpleasant surprise.
BTW I get the impression that MS is using Windows 7 in a secret battle against portability. So far none of my thinstalled programs run on Windows 7, Sandboxie is a real struggle.

I am running Windows 7, I actually searched through ALL the windows 7 sounds on my LAPTOP to identify the sound, and NADA! So what other type of file extension could play a sound? Perhaps I can search for it, then eradicate it. It would have to have a file extension of some sort, right?

This is a annoying loud continuous beeping sound. This happens after the boot diagnostics, at the point where windows should boot up. There is a cursor in the upper right corner, and that is all it does. This is a HP Pavilion Elite m9040n PC. It came with Windows Vista, and I am upgrading to Windows 7. I stupidly didn't run upgrade advisor, and am now regretting it.When I go to HP to find drivers, no Windows 7 drivers show up for this PC. Stupidly, again, I assumed this meant that they were packaged in with Windows 7.I don't think this is a hardware issue. It happens repeatedly at boot up, but when I put the installation CD in, the PC boots off the CD just fine. This probably doesn't eliminate any hard drive issues, but the PC wasn't showing any signs before, and the installation goes through without a hitch. Is this caused by not having compatible drivers? Are there computers that can't be upgraded? I do meet the minimum requirements. 2.4 Ghz, 3 GB Ram. What may I be missing?

I'm interested to know whether its possible to disable the system clock? We all know applications and websites can get access to our time zone, etc. I often use anonymous browser clients such as TOR & JonDo to protect my online privacy. For example, I might be set an IP address in Russia, but live in America. The thing is - websites can still access our time zone on the computer so they will I'm not in Russia but actually in xxxx state in America. I don't want to change the time to something random as I've heard this can destabilize the computer and its applications. So is it possible to disable it? If not - is there a browser configuration to block access to it? I did attempt running it under Sandboxie but that doesn't work either.

I have windows 7 professional service pack 1 installed on my computer. I found that the clock time does not set to new time even if I change it, after a minute or to it automatically reverts back to false settings. I tried changing it by clicking the clock time on the right bottom corner and changed it to current time. In internet time tab of change time and date setting window, it is set to time.windows.com. Is there anything I could do to set it right? What is the reason of this behaviour?

On my wife's laptop (i3 350 cpu) running Windows 7HP (Sp1 - UK ver.) The second hand on the gadget clock jerks around. It jumps between about 5 and 10 seconds at a time. I have run Norton & Malwarebytes' scans; replaced gadget settings; reloaded the clock; etc. but all to no avail. The whole process of adding and adjusting Gadgets appears to take longer than it should. At one stage gadgets were using the whole of one core! It appears that something in the background is slowing the gadgets up. I have gone into the Control Panel "Date & Time" and the second hand on the clock there works perfectly.

I have a MSI GX640. it's default memory is the 2x2GB DDR3-1333 (Max 2x4GB) DDR3-1333 @ 9-9-9-24 Timings Recently I decided to do upgrade my memory from the total of 4 gbs to 8gb the type of memory i'm using is this Then I started getting rampant BSOD. I wasn't sure what to do, so I did so did some research. I was told that the memory clock speed or something could be off. I used speccy to identify what I had, it says this.
RAM
Memory slots
Total memory slots 2
Used memory slots 2
Free memory slots 0
[code]....

I got this sexy pc my man built me less than a year ago and it's been working fine (or maybe I haven't noticed before) but in the past few months the clock is resetting every time[i] I reboot. It seems to lose time over a couple hours of just being turned on as well. It's a very stealthy process so I haven't actually seen it do it, but all of a sudden I'll be late for work again, and blaming my pc has become a lame excuse. I've read topics on this, my motherboard battery is dead, but it's not only on reboots as it happens every day and I barely ever turn it off. Anyway. If it is the mb battery, how do I find this out? It's my gaming pc if that matters in any way and my motherboard is the hot Sabertooth x58. I'm running windows 7 ultimate.

If I close this window, sidebar.exe will be terminated as well. I've tried deleting the gadget cache but it seems not working.

I am running Windows 7 premium. The taskbar/notification/clock area @ the bottom of my desktop is huge, like nearly an inch. The Time, Day and Date are one below the other. This takes up so much space especially when u have multiple toolbars, address bar etc @ the top not 2 mention the additional loss of space (of nothingness) @ the top. Leaves less working space than I'm happy with. How do I gain back the use of that half inch in the taskbar? Is it possible 2 gain back the lost area @ the top as well?.I have already gone to Properties and changed the settings there (use small icons). It made no difference at all.
