Computer Goes Back To A Certain Point Every Time Log In?
Nov 6, 2012
so everytime I log-in to my computer it basically restores back to a certian point. And also It starts as a black screen with nothing except for my mouse until I open Task manager and run explorer.exe which for some reason doesnt run on its own anymore. Its probably due to the fact that I wanted to put a cool theme on my computer and that involves replacing the explorer.exe file and explorerframe.dll file, and I did that. But then I decided I didn't need a theme so I put the original Explorer.exe and explorerframe.dll back on to replace the ones I put on before. It changed everything back to normal except for the start orb. I wanted the old start back or atleast a new one. So I got windows Start orb changer. It worked well for some time until at one point everytime I turned on my computer I got an error saying expstart.exe failed and something about bitmaps. and It just black screens until I run explorer.exe from the task manager...and goes back a day or so
I have Office 2002 on Win 7 Pro - 64 bit.A friend gave me his short story to read. It was a docx. I double-clicked it. (I thought I had already put on a limited-purpose reader, but that was at work and for Win XP) Something installed too fast for me to make out what it was - I thought it was a compatibility pack, but when I tried to work on a Power Point project this morning it came up in Power Point 2007 READ ONLY.How do I get my Power Point 2002 back?
I accidentally deleted some important files/folders which caused the whole downloaded videos/games get lost in a few minutes,i didnt even notice that it was deleting.I tried system restore but it didnt work,is there any other way to get your systems time back up for 2-3 days back?
My computer stopped booting and only displays a black screen with a blinking white cursor on start up. I've used a recovery disk to attempt to restore windows back to an earlier point in time. While the restoration completed smoothly I still can't boot. I've also tried the startup repair wizard and it doesn't find any problems.
I really must restore my PC to last night. I only gives me an option of either two days ago or earlier this morning though. How can I restore that exact time?
I recently installed some updates in my Proline notebook, but after installing the 30 percent, it failed to restart, with the screen showing nothing (as if it's off). I then tried to restore it to an earlier time via safe mode but the restore point available is only the one as at the time of the update. I tried to create a restore point, but when i tried, i cannot even find system protection when i looked for it and it directs me to system properties where my computer's description is blank and it cannot be edited.Even the updates cannot be uninstalled via safe mode.Is there no other options i can try in order to start my laptop normally again?
A few months ago I did a fresh install of Windows 7, I went from 32 bit to 64 bit. Since then every once in a while I notice that my clock is 2 hours off, I am in central time and when it loses time it loses 2 hours.
I would normally think if I am losing time it is my CMOS battery but it's not like I am losing time, like 23 minutes or an hour and 5 minutes, it is always 2 hours exactly when it happens.
i was wondering if it is possible to revert windows 7 back to the first time setup i know this was possible on xp (without loosing installed programs) can this be done on windows 7
Just purchased an Apple Time Capsule that has the 2T memory built-in and called a Time Machine. I run Windows 7 on several home PCs; is there a way to back them up to the Time Capsule/Time Machine?
Of late my laptop's DVD-ROM has been giving a lot of problems to me. It isn't being able to read CDs/DVDs. Each time I have to eject the disc, then insert it and do the entire process a lot of times for the CD/DVD to be read. This problem has irritated me for a while now. There are many games which need the CD/DVD to be inserted, and each time when I change the discs, it takes away at least 5-6 minutes. Is there a way by which I can back up the discs in my HDD and play the games without inserting each CD/DVD every time? And the problem is DVD specific. For instance, the DVD of Ashes Cricket 09 is read in 2-3 attempts but that of NBA 2K11 takes at least 7-8 attempts for the laptop to read the disc. Is it a problem with my laptop or the DVDs? And I tried installing Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools, but the installation process keeps on asking me to reboot. After a reboot, it gives the same message.I read somewhere that there are some issues of SPTD drivers on Windows 7 but couldn't really find a solution to it.
I bought a new ASUS with MS 7. I got the basic Office 2010 program and want to transfer my old Powerpoint program to the new computer. Can I and, if so, how do I do it?
As soon as my computer wakes up from sleep mode, it takes about a minute to connect to my WiFi. All of my other laptops and computers connect instantly, except for this one.
System Restore will not create a restore point or restore to a previous date & time. The error message was: A restore point could not be created: An error was detected in the Volume Shadow Copy Server (VSS).The problem occurred while trying to contact VSS writers. Verify that the Event System Sevice and the VSS service are running & check for associated errors in the event logs (0x80042318).Volume Shadow Copy is started & running (done in system events).Event System Sevice and the VSS service are started and running. But no cigar, SR still broken.
I have learnt how to make a automatic restore point (once a week ) on my computer.Every week a little pop-up appears saying that the restore point has successfully been created, but it does not show up on the list.Where the hell are they, and how do I get them to show up on the list..( there should be about three of them since I set the auto thing )..
If I try to search for something (that I know it is on program files, for exemple) on "C:" using the explorer search bar, it stays a long time searching and bring me back NOresults...But, if I go to program files folder, it almost bring me the result instantly

I am having a problem with a new installation of Windows 7 Home Premium. I have always liked the Hibernate feature and used it extensively when I was running Windows Vista Ultimate. Since installing Windows 7, whenever I run Hibernate the computer turns back on. When I used Hibernate in Windows Vista Ultimate I knew that the programs that I left open would be where I left off when I restarted the computer from Hibernate. Now, it just seems to turn on when it wants to. I am sure it is a setting in the Power Settings category in Control Panel. I'm just not sure how to set.
