Can Back Up Discs In HDD And Play The Games Without Inserting Each CD/DVD Every Time?
Jul 10, 2011Of late my laptop's DVD-ROM has been giving a lot of problems to me. It isn't being able to read CDs/DVDs. Each time I have to eject the disc, then insert it and do the entire process a lot of times for the CD/DVD to be read.This problem has irritated me for a while now. There are many games which need the CD/DVD to be inserted, and each time when I change the discs, it takes away at least 5-6 minutes.Is there a way by which I can back up the discs in my HDD and play the games without inserting each CD/DVD every time? And the problem is DVD specific. For instance, the DVD of Ashes Cricket 09 is read in 2-3 attempts but that of NBA 2K11 takes at least 7-8 attempts for the laptop to read the disc. Is it a problem with my laptop or the DVDs? And I tried installing Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools, but the installation process keeps on asking me to reboot. After a reboot, it gives the same message.I read somewhere that there are some issues of SPTD drivers on Windows 7 but couldn't really find a solution to it.

Feb 21, 2011I created a live CD of Ubuntu in order to install it alongside Windows 7. I began the installation, and suddenly the diagram (the one showing how much space each OS takes) stopped showing Windows. Almost immediately after, the installation kicked me back to the live CD, saying the installation failed. Still using the live CD, I saw that Ubuntu had not finished, but the little it did install was simply lingering on my drive. For some reason - probably sheer shock coupled with sleep deprivation - I didn't check to see if anything remained of Windows 7 before I shut down the computer. I then removed the live CD and booted the computer up.
After POST, I'm greeted by a screen that looks like the command prompt, but I am unable to input any commands. I first tried to access the recovery partition by pressing F9 at startup (which used to work), but it simply cuts to the aforementioned black screen. I also tried using various emergency boot discs, but none of them worked; some weren't recognized/loaded, and others partially loaded before displaying an error message. Since then, I have yet to get it to boot to a disc without an error occurring. I am going to contact ASUS and have (a) recovery disc(s) sent, but I doubt they'll do any good; I can't get the computer to load discs, and that's not even mentioning my likely-gone recovery partition. I'm also concerned that my HDD is irreparably damaged.

Jun 21, 2012I have a two year old Dell PC with Windows 7. I got a virus in my computer that by phone and computer takeover Norton located in my MBR. When they cleaned it my computer will no longer boot up. Norton worked with me for three days on the problem but we were unable to fix the computer. I followed other web sites and repaired my MBR but it still will not boot up. I tried System Repair, Check point, Image, and Dell system restore and all failed. I have tried to use the Windows install CD and all I get is a black screen with a flashing cursor and then after 3 minutes the compute attempts to boot again and fails. I tried everything to try and wipe the drive from C prompt and it will not let me. I have very weak computer skills but I can follow directions and I have wiped a previous computer I owned. (I confirmed that my CD drive is working) I also should mention I have a second hard drive on my computer that I backed everything up to.

Computer Freezes For A Second Then It Comes Back?
Oct 30, 2012My computer has been doing this for awhile...I've had it for over 4 years and it works fine but it seems like lately my computer will freeze for a second and then it makes a suddle click sound then it comes back...Computer is not making loud noises or anything but when it freezes it sounds like it is switching gears before it works like normal again.Someone told me Memory issue and I have Memtest but not sure how to use the ISO.

Computer Keeps Starting Back
Sep 29, 2012I am having an issue with my laptop.It keeps starting back all the time and I have windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. I can't have access to safe mode, when I try safe boot repair it won't work either. When I try to start back from the last time it was ok, don't work either. I tried downloading something named AVG rescue cd and it doesn't seem to work either....my computer doesn't seem to wanna read CD's or DVD's.

I had to hard shut it down (like I have done in the past) and when I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't go past the "starting windows" screen. I have pressed F8 and F10 when I turned it back on and tried everything that it gives me the option for. It won't allow me to go into safe mode. It ends up doing the same thing as when I just try turning on the computer normally, doesn't go past the starting windows screen. So I did (I am so dumb T_T) and it turned off my whole entire PC. I was so scared!. So I turned it back up it said that the startup won't load and it was trying to repair it. After it was done it said you have to restart your pc. But it gave me that same startup couldn't load and has to repair. So I put in my Windows 7 os disk. And when It was done with step 2 it told me to restart to finish the process. I did and it put me back to step 1 and start over.

Jan 2, 2012My computer was freezing up after i load up to my desktop .. than it told me my hard drive was no good. The system had me to make back up disks. I got a new hard drive. The new hard drive is the type that allow us to transfer operating sytstem and files to new hard drive from the old one. I tried but im not sure if it hook up right. So now i have two hard drives.. i even switch it up so it boot from the new one and not the old and went back and switch it again back to the old one. This is where I'm at now.. the computer won't load to the startup screen and had me to do recovery but it not taking it. I assume i need a new operating system for the new hard and do a clean install.. but not having the installation cd with the drivers is the reason why im stuck atm. I dont have no problem erasing what there on both hard drive and starting over. The problem atm is not having the installation cd with the drivers.

Nov 6, 2012so everytime I log-in to my computer it basically restores back to a certian point.And also It starts as a black screen with nothing except for my mouse until I open Task manager and run explorer.exe which for some reason doesnt run on its own anymore. Its probably due to the fact that I wanted to put a cool theme on my computer and that involves replacing the explorer.exe file and explorerframe.dll file, and I did that. But then I decided I didn't need a theme so I put the original Explorer.exe and explorerframe.dll back on to replace the ones I put on before. It changed everything back to normal except for the start orb. I wanted the old start back or atleast a new one. So I got windows Start orb changer. It worked well for some time until at one point everytime I turned on my computer I got an error saying expstart.exe failed and something about bitmaps. and It just black screens until I run explorer.exe from the task manager...and goes back a day or so
