View 4 RepliesWhen the screen shuts off due to time or the lid being closed, it doesn't seem to want to turn back on. I can put into standby and bring it back out and it works just fine. But, I'd rather not have to do that all the time.
It's a Dell Inspiron E1505 with a ATI Radeon X1400 video card if that helps at all.
If you need more info, let me know.
when I leave my computer screen and dont do anything it goes black the I have to restart even though the lights are still on ,I used to be able to touch any key and my screen would come back on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently put together a new build and it's been working great, the only glaring problem I have is that when the computer goes into sleep mode, it won't turn back on. Specifically, in sleep mode it goes quiet, when I click mouse/press a key then the fans start up, sounds as if it's working, but the display remains completely black, and mouse laser doesn't turn on.
My system is:
- Intel i5-2500K overclocked to 4.2GHz (via motherboard overclocking utility)
- ASrock Z68 Extreme4 Motherboard
- Corsair Force 3 60gb ssd
- Asus GTX 570
- Corsair TX M600 power supply
- Corsair Carbide series 400r case (if it makes a difference?)

View 4 Replies View Relatedive been looking all over google and all i found was that winlogin.exe is a randex/RBOT virus (i honestly dont know what that means) but i could not find any solutions on how to get rid of it. Ive deleted it from my startup programs but i still think its somewhere in my computer and i cannot find it. Windows Defender will not turn back on, it freezes when i try, but windows firewall is still working. can anyone give me a fix PLEASE? i really dont want to restore my computer to that long ago or reset it completely, unless its the ONLY choice.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using a Windows 7 32 bit computer. My windows update has been disabled and when I try to check for updates I get the 'Windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.' report. Restarting the computer does not work. I think that I am missing some important updates
Windows update does not appear in the Services menu.
I read that windows update is linked to windows defender, which I have found is also not running and will not turn back on. When I attempt to turn it on I get error code: 0x80070424, and it also does not appear in the Services menu.
I am using McAfee which I think could be interfering with Defender, I also ran a Security Check that I found through a previous thread, these were the results:

so the Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit install is fresh, and all the drivers are the latest available. I have updated my mobo's bios to the latest version through Asus' "AI Suite II" which makes things very simple. I want my PC to be able to go into sleep mode but I don't want to have to force shutdown every time it goes into sleep mode after a time span. For some reason if I wake my PC after its been in sleep mode for a short period everything turns back on just fine... I know there might be a solution through the configuration panel
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen my computer goes to sleep after it's on for a while when I move the mouse to get the screen back up it shows the backround no icons or anything to click. Same if I turn it off and turn it back on. I have to turn it off and on many times then go to safe mode and shut down then turn it on again for it to work. Just now I had to turn it on/off 4 times for it to show the icons and task bar. Usually it is left blank with nothing to click having no choice but to turn it off. Norton says no viruses. My computer is HP with windows 7. I bought it in 2011.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy monitor exhibited signs of flickering during start-up, but only minor ones and would just stop at the 'Welcome' screen of windows so I didn't give it much thought. Iv'e been using it with the cpu the same time I bought the monitor. But after some time, the flickering got worse. It went from 1-2 second interval flickers to a whole 10 seconds of blackness before it showed anything. Now,Iv'e got a new cpu but still using the old monitor. After a day or so, the monitor exhibited the first symptoms of my first cpu, so I just dismissed it. But after a week, It got a hell worse, before I even start-up my computer, the monitor doesn't show Analog/Digital at the top-left corner of the screen. PLUS my cpu keeps restarting after I pushed the ON button after 10 seconds or so. Is the monitor responsible for the restart and what could be the reason for the flickering?

I put my new 560 GTX into my case, booted up, installed the appropriate drivers, rebooted, and then my screen "enters power save mode" while loading Windows 7 OS. I can boot into safe mode, uninstall the drivers, and then reboot into normal mode without them. So it seems to be a driver issue. How can I successfully boot Windows 7 and enjoy my new card?

View 0 Replies View RelatedWe just got a new computer that included Windows 7 software. My simple question is this. When we walk away from the computer for awhile and return to do something, the screen locks up and asks for a password which I recorded when we first set up the computer. I don't want to have to type in a password each time someone wants to use the computer since this is our family, home use computer. How do I turn off this option?

Just built a new rig, having this issue with my Gigabyte 7970 GHz Edition. In my power settings I have it set to turn the monitor off after 15 minutes. The issue is that when I return to my computer, it doesn't regain the connection. Tested with both HDMI and DVI inputs, same issue. Doesn't matter if I disconnect and reconnect the monitor, nothing. Only way to solve it is by forcing a restart.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Home theater PC on my home theater system connected via HDMI to an AMP then to a tv all with HDMI. Some times when I turn everything on the computer is in a 1024 x 768. And it doesn't go back until something triggers a new resolution, like exiting or starting Windows Media center and it goes back to 1920x1080. I am guessing when I start up the AMP it can't identify the device so i goes to a default resolution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had only used it for a day and then the next day it wouldn't even turn on. I have tried everything that I can think of to fix it. From unplugging it and plugging it back in, changing out the power cord with a different one, trying to plug it into a different location in the house, turning the surge protector on and off, etc. I opened the side up and everything seemed to be in place and nothing was obviously unplugged. We do have a warranty but when we called we got put on hold for an hour + and gave up. We will probably call them again Monday I just wondered if there was something else that I should try before calling it quits and switching the computer out completely.
