Problem :I can not log on windows with power button.So, for the detail :
1. When i turn on my PC (use power button)
2. It's on then go to dual boot menu then I press enter on windows 7
3. Then, the normal boot appear (windows logo with "starting windows" text)
4. After that, the screen goes blank, just black screen without cursor
my vga and ram is ok, I already use the latest driver for my vga card I can start my win xp normally (my dual boot is win 7 and win xp) I can start my win 7 with safe mode and low resolution I also can start my win 7 normally after I force restart my PC with reset button?

I was just parusing around like usual on my computer, it runs Windows 7, and I allowed it to download the usual updates and restart itself. When it shut down and began restarting, I notice that it loads up the logo, briefly flashes what I think is called a Bios Post page, and then goes to a page that is nothing but a blinking "__" sign. I have a custom built pc, running Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, Intel LGA 775 motherboard, Intel Xeon 2.4 Quad processor, 550 watt power supply and nvidia GeForce 9800 GT graphics card. I do audio recording, and use an external audio interface (novation x-station 49). My computer has ran flawlessly for the past year or so, now my 2 (22" Samsung) monitors go black after a few minutes. It started out once or twice a day, now it only takes about 5 minutes.
My first thought was the video card (because both monitors go black) which I'm still in the 5 year warrantee period, so I can get it replaced. Mar 29, 2012I have a gateway computer that is infected with a virus. I was able to load the computer in safe mode a couple of times before it no longer loaded login screen for my computer. Now when I cut the computer on there is only a black screen with a white blinking cursor. I have the avira rescue cd and have changed the seetings to boot straight from the cd rom but even after running the rescue disc the computer will not allow me to use the (f) function keys. When I press down on any of the (f) function keys there is a beeping sound but no action. I've tried to run OCCT on my GPU for about 30 minutes @ 90 degrees C withouth problem. I've done one or two pass in Memtest+ to check my RAM too.

Oct 7, 2012but I was given it used from the previous owner and later found out it was refurbished. It is a Gateway NV53A. I have always had issues with BSOD's and Windows errors, and most of them either driver or memory related. I fixed and updated all drivers, but never did anything about memory except maybe some tests and they all came out fine. 3 days ago, I was using my PC just browsing a Web page and suddenly the screen went black. I thought it was the lcd, but I closed the lid to see if it would go into standby mode and it just stood there powered on and frozen... The only way it would react was if I manually turned it off holding power button.
Sometimes it does boot up, sometimes it gets farther than others. What I mean is, sometimes it gets past the Gateway logo and crashes there, sometimes it boots up to to the home screen, and sometimes it doesn't even boot... How far it gets depends on how long the PC has been turned off. Odd I know... Anyways, I found out my motherboard requires ram with 1066mhz fsb whereas the current ram sticks it has installed are 800mhz.... I was told new ram with 1066mhz would fix my issues and allow my PC tu boot and run fine as it always did, but I just wanted to be sure that's my Issue, and I also wanted to know how come the computer ran fine (with the exception of BSOD's and some errors occurring every now and then) before and now suddenly I'm screwed. Oct 21, 2012Today I started up my pc and after the BIOS screen (the place where you can press f8-f11 for various options) it went to a black screen with a blinking underscore in the upper left corner and stayed there indefinitely. It did this even after reboot.
I tried using the diagnostic tool and everything it tested passed (including HDD). I did this test twice and the same results were produced.
I also googled for similar problems (one topic mentioned that the op disassembling his computer and physically tapping a chip on the motherboard caused it to work) but I have no experience with taking apart my computer and i do not want to break it accidentally. I did however chance upon a topic advising him to do a CMOS reset which apparently helped that op, so i looked through the various options on the BIOS page. There was one option (f10 I think) mentioning CMOS on its fourth sub-window, so i pressed the reset option but I'm mot entirely sure if I used the right function.
I uninstalled kaspersky pure and replaced kaspersky pure for kaspersky anti-virus yesterday, dont know if this was the cause. I am using windows 7 64 bit.
