When I'm playing certain video games, like Battlefield Play4Free, sometimes, my computer lag spikes and then my screen flashes black. Then the lag's gone. After that, in the tray notification area, I get a message saying, "Display driver Igfx stopped responding and successfully recovered".
My dell computer screen flashes black for a half a second or a second at random intervals (anywhere from once a minute to every couple of seconds), but the system has not frozen, as I can continue to type, music keeps playing, etc. I found a site which suggests that it is my AC socket or adapter, but the same problem exists on battery power.
Apologies if this has been covered, I have tried looking but can't find any previous mention, although having used this excellent forum for a few months this is my first posting, so sorry if I am not doing this correctly !
I have carried out a clean install of Win 7 Home Rremium (retail full version) on a new hard drive. The problem that I have noticed is that when you are in Computer Management, you can view everything OK apart from Disk Management when you view this it works OK but when you then try to view any other menu (Event Viewer, Device Manager etc.),
the text on the screen flashes like it was refreshing, however it continues to do so until you exit. If you then go back in again and select anything other than Disk Management it works OK until you select Disk Management (which works OK), but on selecting another menu, the screen starts flashing again.
This only happens when you go from Disk Management to something else.
I have reinstalled my old Vista hard drive and everything works OK, so I dont think that it is a hardware issue, but something with Windows 7.
I have window seven Hp pavilion 64 bit, 4 ghz sp1, computer and I have never had so many problems. I have done at least 4 system restores. The screen flashes, I have adjusted monitor display size. Computer will not complete a backup. I hear my dvd drive making noises. The computer is slow. Could not install adobe reader until last night. My last index number was 3.3 to 2.6 and now it says 3.3. I don't know what my default browser is, firefox, and windows tell me they are not.
How do I find out if I have malware, virus and or browser is jacked? My prairie form cleaner shows me my computer is collecting large files or daily activity. Also, I want to know if my computer is recording, how can I tell? I want to make sure the back door is closed. I have scanned with Norton, Windows Defender, Avast and AVG over the time and I have had at least 4 items to return. 3 items were removed 1 quarantined and I have done restores since then.
My computer is running on a Windows 7 Home Premium OS, it's about two years old, Lenovo brand. I won the computer a while back, and do not have a Windows 7 Op.disk. The problem is, a while back I got this virus called Wolfram Antivirus software, and tried to do everything I could to remove it. It was a pain. The thing is, I think I might have accidentally deleted something in RegEdit, and now my computer (on the ultra rare occasion that it gets to and past the login screen) will tell me that it has encountered a critical error, and will restart in 1 minute. When it does reboot, what will happen, is it will get to the picture of the swirling Windows symbol, but then reboot before making it to login screen. Then it will ask me to do a system repair or start up normally, because it shut down unusually
I just completed a fresh install of Windows 7 on my Dell XPS 17. For some reason, when the computer is on battery power and is idle, the screen will flicker. Basically if I am on battery power, the moment I stop typing or using the mouse, the screen will flicker after about a second. Then as soon as I resume using the computer, it will flicker again. It will also flash at random other times... Only when on battery power (so far).As I mentioned, I just completed a fresh install of windows 7 after reformatting my drive because of virus issues. I did have some issues with getting drivers installed and still have have that are missing (see attached photo). I have not been able to get these drivers to install. One thought I had is that the screen issue may be a result of improperly installed graphics drivers? Just a thought. System Info:
I bought this laptop nearly 2 years ago and it's been giving me tons of issues as of late, It flashes and will occasionally crash during games (ex: DOW2, Global Agenda, ME2) The flashing will also happen occasionally happen outside of games and is nearly guaranteed a BSOD within 15 minutes or less from World of Warcraft
I have made a word game in notepad and saved it off as a batch file. Whenever I open this batch file it flashes onto the screen for a second and then goes away.
sometimes randomly my screen flashes doing nothing special i teste dit and happnes just every couple of min and after it flashes it shows me a little yellow warning triangle at the bottom but when i wanna press it itr disappears, i think that every itme i dont use my mouse for a certain amount of time thi shappnes
well my screen keeps going black, i restarted, then it stopped bt wanted to make sure the monitor is working fine, well, i installed skimcleaner, a few days ago or maybe earlier, computer hasn't speed up.
I got a new laptop (DELL XPS 172nd Generation Intel Core i5-2450M processor) recently and I had it returned for having lag spikes that would happen whenever it felt like. (gaming, videos, Reddit, etc.). Dell sent me a new computer that also has the same problem, lag spikes that give off a noise that you would expect from a transformer.
I installed windows 7 RC a few days ago, and every 2-10 seconds it would spike with lag, the mouse would jump and the internet would do the same i would get a consistent low rate and every now and then it would jump to normal.
I found out the problem was with my network card, i had to roll back the driver on my network card for it to work properly.
Now my network card updates itself every now and then and i have to go back and change it again.
I was wondering if anybody else has had similar problems like this, and or found a permanent fix for this.
I'm having some serious troubles with my main PC, my gaming PC, and it's really messing things up for me. I was just parusing around like usual on my computer, it runs Windows 7, and I allowed it to download the usual updates and restart itself. When it shut down and began restarting, I notice that it loads up the logo, briefly flashes what I think is called a Bios Post page, and then goes to a page that is nothing but a blinking "__" sign. It does nothing here, won't continue, and I can't enter or do anything. It just endlessly blinks, before disappearing and the computer screen shows nothing but black.
I'm having random crashes during general usage on my pc. Attached you will(hopefully) find bsod logs. I have run memtest already and it came back ok. I have also updated to latest nvidia drivers and it still happens. This is a nearly fresh install of windows 7 and i have loaded minimal software onto it since install a week or so ago.
just put together a new computer and I'm having trouble booting it up. All the lights on the MoBo, and the fans are running, the fan on my GPU seems like its going at max speed.
When I try to start up, the computer starts, then turns off for about 2 seconds, then starts up again, and stays on until i turn it off. Theres only 1 short beep when I start it up. I am using a HDMI cable from my monitor to my graphics card, and it just says " no signal "
Heres the new system i've put together. ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z, Socket-1155 E-ATX, Z68, DDR3, 4xPCIe(2.0)x16, CFX&SLI, NF200, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0,EFI Corsair SSD Force Series 3, 60GB
When I turn my computer on nothing happens. The power light comes on and I hear ONLY the fans turning. Nothing happens on the screen, it just stays black. It does say NO VGA signal.
I can turn on my computer but the screen is black, cd works, but nothing on screen. Toshiba Satellite. Any hot key combinations that will reboot to normal?
My computer is definitely running with the cooler working at what not except no vision on the monitor. I've tried re-organizing the rams but it results in the computer starting up, shutting down, starting up shutting down. [code]
A few weeks ago I went to download a game and it wouldnt get download right. the time left count down went up and stopped in the middle. Also I keep getting the black screen when I turn on my computer, what do I do?
I recently bought a new computer and everything works fine, I play League of Legends, Borderlands, Left 4 Dead all in high settings and I get constant fps and very smooth gameplay. But when I try to play the oldest game ever (Counter-Strike 1.6) I get fps spikes very very often. I am playing in OpenGL, yes. I disabled vsync, yes. I even went to my nvidia control panel and just straight up set everything up for high performance and not quality and I still get fps drops to around 40's-50's.
My computer specs:
-Intel i5 3.3 Ghz (Turbo Boost 3.7) L3 Cache 6MB, Quad-Core, 32nm -2x Kingston 4GB DDR3 (1333MHz - PC3-10600) -Seagate 1.5TB HD 32Mb Cache, 7200RPM -ECS NVIDIA GeForce Black GTX 560 Over Clock, 1024MB GDDR5 -Windows 7 Professional
I have an HP desktop with an Asus MB #M2N68-AM SE2.Sometimes it boots normally but lately it may be as long as 10 to 15 minutes to get past the Windows l7 flashing logo.
after reformatting my windows 7, my sony laptop came up with a weird screen problem. I have updated/re-installed graphic cards etc and even reformatted and same problem. Before the reformatting it didn't use to happen.Basically this happens:Right after "Starting Windows" boot screen and animation finishes, It flashes a bunch of small colored dotted distortions at the top of the screen. It only flashes this once right before the Log in Screen. No other problems occur after that.Tried "No GUI Boot" still didnt fix it.I assume the backlight/inverter is failing?
I am new here so apologies for being a newbie. I have a mid ranged gaming tower from ncix. That's about 7 months old. Its a 64bit windows 7 with 12gbs ram and 1tb hard drive.I was playing Starcraft with friends earlier today when suddenly the computer restarted during the match and was unable to boot up again after the sudden restart. It hangs at a black screen with the blinking underscore.
My friend was having problems with her computer. So I ran a few programs to check it out and clean it up.. (AVG, CCleaner, AntiMalware...) But then after running the last one and rebooting, the screen goes black once Windows starts to load. Then the mouse appears but still nothing. I tried safe mode and still nothing... Not sure what to do, but just gaining access to copy files to an external hard drive is important. I was planning to reformat anyways..
have some serious problems with my computer. I get black screen everytime I play games, like World of Warcraft and Counter Strike: Source. In another Thread there was a guy with the same problem, he attached the MX-4 somehow and I don't know what that is, is it something you buy or is it something you download? The MX-4 seemed to be working for him so I wanna try that.
Just got myself this (old) new computer, that I was going to use for a media center. But it randomly crashes, and i can't seem to figure out why. I formated it yesterday, so I doubt it would be a virus.Sometimes it goes black, and picture returns within a few seconds, but other times it freezes up completely. When I restart it (with the power button) I cant get pasted the BIOS screen, but if I unplug the power supply, and hit the power button a few times and then plug in the power, it starts up like normal. (does that make it a RAM issue?)Freezes have happened doing the following: Using XBMC (both in menus and while watching a video), while Internet Download Manager was running. While file transfer was running, and a few times while i wasnt at the computer.Specs:Windows 7 Ultimate x64ATI Radeon HD 5670Intel Core i3 CPU6GB RAMPhillips TV (Connected with HDMI)
I got this problem with my new computer which is when i play games recently the screen turns black (sometimes dark blue and with stripes looking graphics all over the screen). This have been happening sometimes in a week or 2 and sometimes it doesn't turn black but just get like a freeze for a few seconds and then go back to normal.it's starting to scare me since my last computer which was a laptop had the same problem, but there was no saving it.This computer is just a few months old, it has good RAM, CPU and graphics card.
I'll try to explain as best I can. I have a custom built pc, running Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, Intel LGA 775 motherboard, Intel Xeon 2.4 Quad processor, 550 watt power supply and nvidia GeForce 9800 GT graphics card. I do audio recording, and use an external audio interface (novation x-station 49). My computer has ran flawlessly for the past year or so, now my 2 (22" Samsung) monitors go black after a few minutes. It started out once or twice a day, now it only takes about 5 minutes.
My first thought was the video card (because both monitors go black) which I'm still in the 5 year warrantee period, so I can get it replaced. Everything is normal, then I get a second of messed up screens, then it goes black. When the screens are messed up, they look like the one referring to bad video card ram in this link...
