View 2 RepliesI have an old dos batch file that takes strongs from the command prompt - inserts them into a file and then sorts the file. In Windows 7 - access to the data file is being denied.
I am not logged in as adminstrator but have Administrator rights. Data files re not read-only. located in root rirectory
I have a computer that is a drone specifically for an outside LED sign. This computer is designed to never shut off and doesn't have any other program on it besides Operating System and the sign software. I need to create a batch file that I can place in the "start-up" folder that will open the program (LEDStudio10) and open the file that I want to play. I have already tried multiple attempts and I was hoping someone out there in sevenforums world would be able to point me in the right direction.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a simple batch file to load multiple files with one click, but it's not working.
When I run it, it simply very quickly pops up the cmd dialog, which quickly disappears, and nothing is loaded.
I've tried 'running as administrator' - same problem.
File is xxxxx.bat
I've even tried the fail safe:
start /d C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe
and that doesn't work, so it's not a error in my paths... for some reason, it just won't load...
Worked in XP fine...
Is there a different technique in 7?
Basically, end result, want to open two programs with one click (one icon on taskbar).
I don't really know a better way to describe it, but I want to make a batch file that Task Scheduler can open at a certain time to close a chosen program.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a batch file that runs 3 other batch files. Right now, it works fine using the call command on each other batch file. However, these other batch files take awhile to run. and so the entire process takes a very long time, since each "sub" batch file is run only after the previous one is finished.I was wondering if there is a command or way to start a batch file fro the top-level batch file, then go on and start the next batch file before the previous one is finished. In other words, I want the sub batch files to run in parallel in the background. (similar to the '&' in Unix).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a folder in My Documents that doesn't open up (other folders in my computer works fine). I double click on it and it makes that clicking sound and flashes for a sec but nothing opens up. I can only look at what's in the folder by using Word 2007 then open and select all files. I scanned it with AVG and there's no virus. Most of the stuff in there are not downloaded, it's mainly documents which I typed on this computer, and the few things that have been downloaded I have opened before and there never seemed to be a problem until recently. I made a copy of the folder to an external hard drive and funnily that opens up. I tried to delete the original folder in my documents but it says folder in use and won't let me delete it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just completed a fresh install of Windows 7 on my Dell XPS 17. For some reason, when the computer is on battery power and is idle, the screen will flicker. Basically if I am on battery power, the moment I stop typing or using the mouse, the screen will flicker after about a second. Then as soon as I resume using the computer, it will flicker again. It will also flash at random other times... Only when on battery power (so far).As I mentioned, I just completed a fresh install of windows 7 after reformatting my drive because of virus issues. I did have some issues with getting drivers installed and still have have that are missing (see attached photo). I have not been able to get these drivers to install. One thought I had is that the screen issue may be a result of improperly installed graphics drivers? Just a thought. System Info:

Apologies if this has been covered, I have tried looking but can't find any previous mention, although having used this excellent forum for a few months this is my first posting, so sorry if I am not doing this correctly !
I have carried out a clean install of Win 7 Home Rremium (retail full version) on a new hard drive. The problem that I have noticed is that when you are in Computer Management, you can view everything OK apart from Disk Management when you view this it works OK but when you then try to view any other menu (Event Viewer, Device Manager etc.),
the text on the screen flashes like it was refreshing, however it continues to do so until you exit. If you then go back in again and select anything other than Disk Management it works OK until you select Disk Management (which works OK), but on selecting another menu, the screen starts flashing again.
This only happens when you go from Disk Management to something else.
I have reinstalled my old Vista hard drive and everything works OK, so I dont think that it is a hardware issue, but something with Windows 7.
At Windows 7 startup, the Cmd screen flashes on for a second or two. Looks like there is nothing on the screen.

The screen flashes, I have adjusted monitor display size. Computer will not complete a backup. I hear my dvd drive making noises. The computer is slow. Could not install adobe reader until last night. My last index number was 3.3 to 2.6 and now it says 3.3. I don't know what my default browser is, firefox, and windows tell me they are not.
How do I find out if I have malware, virus and or browser is jacked? My prairie form cleaner shows me my computer is collecting large files or daily activity. Also, I want to know if my computer is recording, how can I tell? I want to make sure the back door is closed. I have scanned with Norton, Windows Defender, Avast and AVG over the time and I have had at least 4 items to return. 3 items were removed 1 quarantined and I have done restores since then.

The problem is, a while back I got this virus called Wolfram Antivirus software, and tried to do everything I could to remove it. It was a pain. The thing is, I think I might have accidentally deleted something in RegEdit, and now my computer (on the ultra rare occasion that it gets to and past the login screen) will tell me that it has encountered a critical error, and will restart in 1 minute. When it does reboot, what will happen, is it will get to the picture of the swirling Windows symbol, but then reboot before making it to login screen. Then it will ask me to do a system repair or start up normally, because it shut down unusually
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter reformatting my windows 7, my sony laptop came up with a weird screen problem. I have updated/re-installed graphic cards etc and even reformatted and same problem. Before the reformatting it didn't use to happen.Basically this happens:Right after "Starting Windows" boot screen and animation finishes, It flashes a bunch of small colored dotted distortions at the top of the screen. It only flashes this once right before the Log in Screen. No other problems occur after that.Tried "No GUI Boot" still didnt fix it.I assume the backlight/inverter is failing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Googled this without success. Does anyone know of a script (or is able to write one?) which will batch convert a folder (+ subfolders) full of shortcuts so that they all open the application they link to (in the case, Microsoft Flight Simulator) in a maximized, not 'normal' window?
I have over a thousand of these shortcuts and opening each one's properties window and changing 'normal' to 'maximized' is not really an option!
Not really a 'Windows 7' question specifically of course, but maybe someone here will know anyway?
Can someone show what a batch file would look like for use in Win7?Secondly the method for writing same batch file please.I want copy a file or files to the desktop before shutting down or rebooting and secondly copy same file/files to their original location after booting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow could I run a batch file as an administrator without any user involvement. I just want when the file is clicked on to start running as an admin because it is copying files in the Programs directory and cannot do it without administrator privileges.
I have this... runas /noprofile /useran-SlateDan cmd but that requires me to have to type my password, and also just opens up a new shell and does not actually elevate the shell that it ran in.
To cut a long story short, I decided to try out a demo for a games which is coming out, and a friend gave me the file (it's a FREE demo mind you) and I didn't really like the game so I want to uninstall. How do I go about that? When I installed the game at first, it installed via one of those command prompt boxes.
