View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 laptops, the one mentioned here Supervirus and a new one. I was trying to see if swapping the hard drives would fix it, but it didn't. So I swapped them back and when I tried to turn on the new working computer I keep getting a BSOD flash for a split second before it crashes the laptop. I have many many important photos and school papers etc on it and I want to recover them ASAP. But I can't even log into the laptop because it will show the loading windows 7 animation for a few seconds, freeze, and do the BSOD then crash. I have a computer that I can use to burn any cd's or flash drives or w/e but I need to get those documents off the laptop. When I tried to do system restore the first time didn't work and gave me an error code. The second time it worked but when I tried to boot up the same thing happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have window seven Hp pavilion 64 bit, 4 ghz sp1, computer and I have never had so many problems. I have done at least 4 system restores. The screen flashes, I have adjusted monitor display size. Computer will not complete a backup. I hear my dvd drive making noises. The computer is slow. Could not install adobe reader until last night. My last index number was 3.3 to 2.6 and now it says 3.3. I don't know what my default browser is, firefox, and windows tell me they are not.
How do I find out if I have malware, virus and or browser is jacked? My prairie form cleaner shows me my computer is collecting large files or daily activity. Also, I want to know if my computer is recording, how can I tell? I want to make sure the back door is closed. I have scanned with Norton, Windows Defender, Avast and AVG over the time and I have had at least 4 items to return. 3 items were removed 1 quarantined and I have done restores since then.
I have an HP desktop with an Asus MB #M2N68-AM SE2.Sometimes it boots normally but lately it may be as long as 10 to 15 minutes to get past the Windows l7 flashing logo.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just completed a fresh install of Windows 7 on my Dell XPS 17. For some reason, when the computer is on battery power and is idle, the screen will flicker. Basically if I am on battery power, the moment I stop typing or using the mouse, the screen will flicker after about a second. Then as soon as I resume using the computer, it will flicker again. It will also flash at random other times... Only when on battery power (so far).As I mentioned, I just completed a fresh install of windows 7 after reformatting my drive because of virus issues. I did have some issues with getting drivers installed and still have have that are missing (see attached photo). I have not been able to get these drivers to install. One thought I had is that the screen issue may be a result of improperly installed graphics drivers? Just a thought. System Info:

Apologies if this has been covered, I have tried looking but can't find any previous mention, although having used this excellent forum for a few months this is my first posting, so sorry if I am not doing this correctly !
I have carried out a clean install of Win 7 Home Rremium (retail full version) on a new hard drive. The problem that I have noticed is that when you are in Computer Management, you can view everything OK apart from Disk Management when you view this it works OK but when you then try to view any other menu (Event Viewer, Device Manager etc.),
the text on the screen flashes like it was refreshing, however it continues to do so until you exit. If you then go back in again and select anything other than Disk Management it works OK until you select Disk Management (which works OK), but on selecting another menu, the screen starts flashing again.
This only happens when you go from Disk Management to something else.
I have reinstalled my old Vista hard drive and everything works OK, so I dont think that it is a hardware issue, but something with Windows 7.
My laptop screen flashes on and off for a second or so every so often, it has never done this before. What can I do to correct.

When I'm playing certain video games, like Battlefield Play4Free, sometimes, my computer lag spikes and then my screen flashes black. Then the lag's gone. After that, in the tray notification area, I get a message saying, "Display driver Igfx stopped responding and successfully recovered".

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer is running on a Windows 7 Home Premium OS, it's about two years old, Lenovo brand. I won the computer a while back, and do not have a Windows 7 Op.disk. The problem is, a while back I got this virus called Wolfram Antivirus software, and tried to do everything I could to remove it. It was a pain. The thing is, I think I might have accidentally deleted something in RegEdit, and now my computer (on the ultra rare occasion that it gets to and past the login screen) will tell me that it has encountered a critical error, and will restart in 1 minute. When it does reboot, what will happen, is it will get to the picture of the swirling Windows symbol, but then reboot before making it to login screen. Then it will ask me to do a system repair or start up normally, because it shut down unusually
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter reformatting my windows 7, my sony laptop came up with a weird screen problem. I have updated/re-installed graphic cards etc and even reformatted and same problem. Before the reformatting it didn't use to happen.Basically this happens:Right after "Starting Windows" boot screen and animation finishes, It flashes a bunch of small colored dotted distortions at the top of the screen. It only flashes this once right before the Log in Screen. No other problems occur after that.Tried "No GUI Boot" still didnt fix it.I assume the backlight/inverter is failing?

It gets to the initial Windows screen before the login screen and freezes, then sends me into Startup Repair. [code] I've tried running the diagnostics and get no error codes. I've tried restore points, memory diagnostics.. pretty much everything except factory image, with no success. I have a lot of government programs installed on this laptop, so.

Re-installing the application may fix the problem."I'm not sure what it's talking about and what to re install and I can't reinstall whatever it is because I can't get to the start menu.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverything shows up fine until the welcome screen after that it normally used to fade to the desktop but now it goes blank. The screen in Black with only the mouse pointer. Its not hung, i can move the mouse pointer. Then after a minute or so it advances to the desktop. Everything on the desktop loads up in less than 5s. The PC runs fine, it is really fast as there are only a few programs, but only boots slow. My total boot time is about 3-5 min. I think it should be like in a minute or so.I have not tweaked much with the system but have installed a few programs like MS office, Nero, Acrobat and Photoshop. These are the only heavy programs in the PC right now. The only games on the PC are AC1 and AC2. I have uninstalled my graphic driver and reinstalled. I already minimized the programs in the msconfig>startup to the minimum. I have run ccleaner, spybot s&d, Antimalware and i also have a trial copy of Kaspersky AV (upgrading later to 1-year license). there are no peripherals attached during boot except the USB keyboard and mouse. A printer is attached too but is most of the time turned off.

Change graphics card.
Change RAM.
Memory diagnostic.
System repair.
Safe mode (works).
LKGC.
Uninstall AVS video converter (only new software installed yesterday).
Uninstall Daemon Tools.
System repair from Windows DVD (fails - incompatible version).
All I'm left with is a format and reinstall if I cant solve this - safe mode works fine so it must be fixable!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using win7 professional 64-bit os. It takes about 8-seconds to come for logon screen. Whether below mentioned procedure is suitable for the solution of slow startup:
1. Click on the Start orb, enter "regedit", and press the "Return" key.
2. Go to the following "folder" (also known as "keys" in Windows registry slang): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
3. If you see an entry called "DelayedDesktopSwitchTimeout" on the right-hand side of the folder, move on to the next step. Otherwise, you need to create the entry. To do that, right-click on a free space in the folder, and select "New/DWORD (32-bit) Value". Type in "DelayedDesktopSwitchTimeout", and press "Return".
4. Double-click on the entry. Now all you need to do is to enter the number 5, and click "OK".
I've been facing this issue for the past month now. thing is sometimes after a cold boot, a screen appears which gives two options 1. repair windows 2. start windows normally.
the first time this screen appeared i chose repair option and system hanged after 4 or 5 minutes, i used the power button to shut it down. Since then whenever this screen appeared i always chose normal start up. if its ok to choose normal startup or should i go with the reapir option and if the system freezes what should i do?
I am building a computer for my parents and, after reaching the "starting windows" screen and the logo popping up, it hangs.
