View 2 Replies View RelatedMy windows keeps getting stuck regardless of whatever software I am using. Every few minutes it says (NOT RESPONDING) at the top of whatever window that I have open. I checked task manager and there it says CPU Usage and Memory Usage is relatively low so that does not seem to be a problem.
I also checked Resource Monitor and there the only weird thing that I notice is the Disk Response time which is between 5000-8000ms for some stuff. I have attached a screenshot of that. I have run every HP Diagnostic tool and it doesn't find anything wrong with my laptop. I have formatted/re-installed windows on my system several times so I dont think the installation is a problem either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just completed a fresh install of Windows 7 on my Dell XPS 17. For some reason, when the computer is on battery power and is idle, the screen will flicker. Basically if I am on battery power, the moment I stop typing or using the mouse, the screen will flicker after about a second. Then as soon as I resume using the computer, it will flicker again. It will also flash at random other times... Only when on battery power (so far).As I mentioned, I just completed a fresh install of windows 7 after reformatting my drive because of virus issues. I did have some issues with getting drivers installed and still have have that are missing (see attached photo). I have not been able to get these drivers to install. One thought I had is that the screen issue may be a result of improperly installed graphics drivers? Just a thought. System Info:

Apologies if this has been covered, I have tried looking but can't find any previous mention, although having used this excellent forum for a few months this is my first posting, so sorry if I am not doing this correctly !
I have carried out a clean install of Win 7 Home Rremium (retail full version) on a new hard drive. The problem that I have noticed is that when you are in Computer Management, you can view everything OK apart from Disk Management when you view this it works OK but when you then try to view any other menu (Event Viewer, Device Manager etc.),
the text on the screen flashes like it was refreshing, however it continues to do so until you exit. If you then go back in again and select anything other than Disk Management it works OK until you select Disk Management (which works OK), but on selecting another menu, the screen starts flashing again.
This only happens when you go from Disk Management to something else.
I have reinstalled my old Vista hard drive and everything works OK, so I dont think that it is a hardware issue, but something with Windows 7.
At Windows 7 startup, the Cmd screen flashes on for a second or two. Looks like there is nothing on the screen.

When I'm playing certain video games, like Battlefield Play4Free, sometimes, my computer lag spikes and then my screen flashes black. Then the lag's gone. After that, in the tray notification area, I get a message saying, "Display driver Igfx stopped responding and successfully recovered".

The screen flashes, I have adjusted monitor display size. Computer will not complete a backup. I hear my dvd drive making noises. The computer is slow. Could not install adobe reader until last night. My last index number was 3.3 to 2.6 and now it says 3.3. I don't know what my default browser is, firefox, and windows tell me they are not.
How do I find out if I have malware, virus and or browser is jacked? My prairie form cleaner shows me my computer is collecting large files or daily activity. Also, I want to know if my computer is recording, how can I tell? I want to make sure the back door is closed. I have scanned with Norton, Windows Defender, Avast and AVG over the time and I have had at least 4 items to return. 3 items were removed 1 quarantined and I have done restores since then.
I have an HP desktop with an Asus MB #M2N68-AM SE2.Sometimes it boots normally but lately it may be as long as 10 to 15 minutes to get past the Windows l7 flashing logo.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy computer is running on a Windows 7 Home Premium OS, it's about two years old, Lenovo brand. I won the computer a while back, and do not have a Windows 7 Op.disk. The problem is, a while back I got this virus called Wolfram Antivirus software, and tried to do everything I could to remove it. It was a pain. The thing is, I think I might have accidentally deleted something in RegEdit, and now my computer (on the ultra rare occasion that it gets to and past the login screen) will tell me that it has encountered a critical error, and will restart in 1 minute. When it does reboot, what will happen, is it will get to the picture of the swirling Windows symbol, but then reboot before making it to login screen. Then it will ask me to do a system repair or start up normally, because it shut down unusually
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter reformatting my windows 7, my sony laptop came up with a weird screen problem. I have updated/re-installed graphic cards etc and even reformatted and same problem. Before the reformatting it didn't use to happen.Basically this happens:Right after "Starting Windows" boot screen and animation finishes, It flashes a bunch of small colored dotted distortions at the top of the screen. It only flashes this once right before the Log in Screen. No other problems occur after that.Tried "No GUI Boot" still didnt fix it.I assume the backlight/inverter is failing?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Probook 4520 running Windows 7. It had been acting funny and last week I ran the antivirus software and removed 1 virus. I had it on last night and after leaving it along for 20 minutes, I noticed programs were shutting down and then the computer itself shut off.
When trying to restart it, it sounds like a normal startup and the initial screen with the HP logo and "Press esc. for startup menu" in the corner comes up. It goes away as if it's going to continue restarting, but then that same screen just keeps flashing and it never starts.
I ran all the diagnostic tests in the startup menu and it passed all. There isn't a safe mode option in that menu.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Probook 6550B laptop that when it starts up it prompts you to login in. I do not remember my password or the security questions. It does ask for the Bios admin password but I have no idea what that is. I have tried to remove the laptop battery, and the small watch like battery under the keyboard for (30 Minutes), removed the havedrive, and still the same problem. When I remove the battery and only plug in just the power cord it does tell me that the BIOS is invalid, but when it reboots it goes back to defaults and goes back to the user password screen.I cannot get to the BIOS setup windows, change the boot device order, nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got this HP machine a few months ago. Its the Probook 4530s.
I've formatted the harddrive and reinstalled windows a few time in hopes that it will fix this problem but it just does not seem to go away.
The windows keeps freezing for a few seconds, like the window will say "(Not Responding)" at the top...and then after a few seconds it starts working again. I checked the resource monitor and apparently the processor and memory utilization is quite low so I cant figure out why it still freezes.

1) Is My HD Done? or...
2) Where can i find this download software for free.
3) How can I download onto usb and then onto Laptop?
4) what is the easiest way to run it on the broken laptop?
i have a HP Probook 4520s (now out of warranty) and i want to bring the same to factory condition bcoz of virus issues. Now, on various forums i read there is an option of F11 for recovery manager, which is not working in my case.
1) In Disk management I can see my recovery partition (15 gb) but with no option of making it active.
2) My recovery partion is more like a folder in C: HP_RECOVERY_mountHPSF
What can be the best way to restore to the factory condition. This is a legitimate Windows 7 copy and therefore i do not want to install some other copy, also there could be issues with drivers and all.
My HP Probook 4320s laptop was purchased in October 2011 - It quickly developed the extremely annoying problem of freezing / crashing. I called the company that it was purchased it from, they asked me to do a memory test & hard drive test - they showed no errors. They then advised me to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit (it was preinstalled when purchased). I reinstalled it, & downloaded all of the drivers from the web (a painfully slow experience on Kenyan internet...!!). After installing all of them - it's still happening! Sometimes if left for a couple of minutes it will start to work again, sometimes it needs a reset with the power button.

Running either as "Runas Admin" no change. Also resetting IE had no change. Logging in as Administrator and running it had no change. Creating a new user and attempting to run it had no change. One other issue that might be related I can not uninstall Java 6 update 25, it states the MSI is missing and I cant find a copy any where to remove or re install and remove.
