when I close the lid and open it again the screen doesn't turn on and still closed and I have to shut down from the button. also I edited the power options to do nothing when closing the lid.
What is up with my laptop.... When I turn it on,it shows a black screen in the log-in page.. And even, the start up repair or the system restore dont help me get out of it... Can I b able to fix it widout formatting ?
Is there a way to turn the screen off and on with different shortcuts?
For example, have Shift + F7 [☀] turn off the screen but use Shift + F8 [☼] to only power on the screen (because any key or mouse movement can turn the screen back on).
I have new Dell 2250 laptop and I'm trying to figure out a way to turn off the screen after a few minutes while I have the Windows Media Player going? I have tried this on my desktops over the years and never had any luck so I usually just turned off the monitor manually.
I have recently notice that my laptop has the following issues:- Doesn't follow power option settings (shutting off the monitor, go to sleep on timeout, etc)- Doesn't turn on the screen saver. Previewing the screensaver turns it off in about a second (even if my hands are off the mouse/keyboard).- Windows 7 Projector Connection screen (WinKey+P) goes away after a second or so after bringing it up- Some windows open in background (for example, Picasa image viewer opens windowed in the background instead of fullscreen in front as it used to) From what I understand based on some light Googling and vague leads, there is some sort of interrupt happening that makes the OS think it is being actively used. Unfortunately I am not sure how to pinpoint and solve the issue from here on, so therefore I turn to this forum for help. Some notes about stuff I tried and know about this issue:- This must have happened in the past week or two. I do not recall installing any new software and the only updates that passed my memory were Windows Updates.- Checking Task Manager doesn't reveal any suspicious processes to me.- Some sources suggested this could be a faulty Logitech driver. I own a Logitech mouse and keyboard combo.
Something to consider, I guess? Specs:- Windows 7 32b SP 1, up to date- AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58- 2GB RAM- 250GB HDD- ATI Radeon Xpress 1150- Connected devices: LAN, Logitech Alto Connect Notebook Stand, Logitech S520 Keyboard + mouse that goes with that kit, USB external drive, VGA monitor, line-in running into the microphone port to play sound out of the laptop speakers
I have recently installed Windows 7 RC. Since installing it, I have noticed that when I close my laptop lid, the screen stays on. How do I get the screen to turn off without going into sleep or hibernate mode? I've tried messing around with the power options but nothing seems to work.
There is a moving cursor but nothing else happens. the login page does not appear. The screen background just stays blue with white rays. I do not want to lose any files.
My friend just dropped off her computer saying that its not turning on.I plugged it in, and powered it up, and a black screen came on saying a few things, including the name of the HDD, the name of the computer, etc, but three of the lines it showed caught my eye, so i felt like i should share them with you:
it said press any key to continue, so i did, and it booted to the login screen, but after that, it just went to a black screen with a mouse that was incapable of movement.I force rebooted, and now, just like she had described, it refuses to turn on. The HDD light is blinking, and the fans are going, but the screen doesn't show anything.Apart from that, I haven't had much time to look at it, so i apologize for not being able to give you all more to go off of.
I put my new 560 GTX into my case, booted up, installed the appropriate drivers, rebooted, and then my screen "enters power save mode" while loading Windows 7 OS. I can boot into safe mode, uninstall the drivers, and then reboot into normal mode without them. So it seems to be a driver issue. How can I successfully boot Windows 7 and enjoy my new card?
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM Hard Drive: 984 GB Video Card: PNY 560 GTX 1GB PSU: 600w Corsair
When the screen shuts off due to time or the lid being closed, it doesn't seem to want to turn back on. I can put into standby and bring it back out and it works just fine. But, I'd rather not have to do that all the time.
It's a Dell Inspiron E1505 with a ATI Radeon X1400 video card if that helps at all.
We just got a new computer that included Windows 7 software. My simple question is this. When we walk away from the computer for awhile and return to do something, the screen locks up and asks for a password which I recorded when we first set up the computer. I don't want to have to type in a password each time someone wants to use the computer since this is our family, home use computer. How do I turn off this option?
This is on my old PC and im trying to fix it but im not sure if the mobo is no good or the psu or what. The PC can power on as well as the fans but maybe 5-10 seconds later the fans turn off and there is no display on the screen but the PSU fan is still going.
Just built a new rig, having this issue with my Gigabyte 7970 GHz Edition. In my power settings I have it set to turn the monitor off after 15 minutes. The issue is that when I return to my computer, it doesn't regain the connection. Tested with both HDMI and DVI inputs, same issue. Doesn't matter if I disconnect and reconnect the monitor, nothing. Only way to solve it is by forcing a restart.
I can turn on my computer but the screen is black, cd works, but nothing on screen. Toshiba Satellite. Any hot key combinations that will reboot to normal?
when I leave my computer screen and dont do anything it goes black the I have to restart even though the lights are still on ,I used to be able to touch any key and my screen would come back on.
A few weeks ago I went to download a game and it wouldnt get download right. the time left count down went up and stopped in the middle. Also I keep getting the black screen when I turn on my computer, what do I do?
I have a Home theater PC on my home theater system connected via HDMI to an AMP then to a tv all with HDMI. Some times when I turn everything on the computer is in a 1024 x 768. And it doesn't go back until something triggers a new resolution, like exiting or starting Windows Media center and it goes back to 1920x1080. I am guessing when I start up the AMP it can't identify the device so i goes to a default resolution.
i have an emachine e528 laptop with a crack in the monitor. Everything else works fine so i just need to know how to shut off the backlight so i can hookup external monitor to keep using it.It was the 199.00 laptop from walmart last black friday.i tried google and emachine website and could not find an answer.I know usally it is a combo of a couple keys pressed at the same time.
I just upgraded (via Customer Install) my Vista laptop to 64-bit Windows 7 HP.
Under Vista, I was able to set Power Options so that the computer would go to sleep/hibernate when I close the lid. That works in Windows 7.
However, I was also able to set the Power Options so that the laptop would wake up and restore Windows when I opened the lid. So far, I have been unable to set that behavior in Windows 7.
i bought a 2007 model hp nc6220 with windows 7. I have been unable to turn on my wifi. I've tried everything. nothing works. The wifi button, fn and f2 buttons, nothing. No lights, no nothing. My wireless connection to my printer works. Can't connect to my router.
