HP Laptop Will Turn On, But Screen Stays Blue With Moving Cursor?
Feb 1, 2011
There is a moving cursor but nothing else happens. the login page does not appear. The screen background just stays blue with white rays. I do not want to lose any files.
my Acer aspire 4750G uses windows 7 64 bitit boots and get stuck in the log in screen.. I have no password but I have two users, so I have to click on which to log into.the cursor is moving , but when I click on the User, nothing happens.. the cursor is still moving, but there is no indication that the computer is reading.that round moving icon that you see is not there..is there a way to fix this without reformatting? I dont know much about computer troubleshooting and repair
I have Windows 7 on my laptop and after I start it up and enter my password to login to windows I have to wait another 10-15 minutes for my desktop to appear. It's just a black screen, but the kicker is that I can move my mouse and see it on screen.
I have a Lenovo Laptop Thinkpad Edge E520 8GB RAM Intel CPU B960 Pentium Processor 2.2GHZ
Recently when I have powered up my laptop it occasionally doesn't load properly, the screen stays black. You can hear the laptop working fine but you cannot see anything. This happens once or twice a week, I usually hold on the power button for 5 seconds, then reboot and it resumes my hibernate settings as usual. Could this be because I always hibernate my laptop?
i have an hp pavilion dv5 1006ax laptop with vista as default os. i changed to windoes 7 and now i have a problem with the bluetooth. it does not turn red and stays blue for ever. i cannot turn the adapter off. there is no problem in sending and receiving files. but when vist is installed it works fine...
one day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
I'm trying to boot up this HP laptop that shows a black screen with a blinking cursor after the HP logo. I've tried using a windows 7 recovery disc to repair start up.I've restored the computer to an earlier date that it was working correctly. I've ran every test in the computer's built in diagnostics, and every single one has passed, and no errors in any part of the system were reported. Also, the computer will not start up in safe mode or anything like that.
Black Screen with cursor? When I switch my laptop on it comes up with a black screen with just the cursor in the top left, this happens before I get to any login screens etc, It's like its wanting to boot a CD but there;s no CD/DVD in the rom! Even when I have put one in, it still hasn't worked..I've looked on lots of forums but none have helped. The only thing that works is F2 that takes me to InsydeH20 Setup Utility & F12 Boot menu. But they dont help! I've tried the usual F8 for safe mode but no such luck, nothing happens, still the same black screen with cursor!
I have a latitude d830 running with windows 7 professional(SP1, 32bit). The cursor on my computer has been randomly scrolling by itself and hopping into places where i do not intend to type for a while now. I recently had windows xp removed and replaced with windows 7 because of multiple bothersome issues, but behold the cursor issue remains. My files were backed-up and reloaded to the computer and I now wonder if the "suspected" virus was transferred to my system again.
I have a problem with my mouse cursor. In some games it keeps moving down. It suddenly began doing it. It wasn't a problem when I installed windows 7. It is primarily a problem in the games that come with Windows 7, so I've been ignoring it, but I can't play Fallout New Vegas because the cursor problem occurs in that game as well. I have a Logitech MX 620 mouse. I have tried to pull out the batteries to see if that helped, but it didn't. I tried to unplug the mouse to see if that helped, but it didn't. I tried installing Setpoint, but it didn't change anything.
Been having 9 RootKit issues popping up on our Laptop found by the AVG scan for about a month now. I wanted to just do a complete Restore to get things running normally again. Problem is I have a huge amount of pics on there that are not backed up. Been trying to come up with a quick & easy way to do it.Did a Google search the other day & read that I could use a Bridged USB-USB cable & transfer the pics to our PC. Went to Best Buy to get it & they told me that the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable would do it. Well, I attempted to run the thing last night (I don't think it was even doing what I wanted) and now the laptop will not boot at all. There was an error message (that I didn't write down) on it when I got up this morning & now all I get is a black screen with the arrow cursor on it.
started recently, when I boot my PC, the screen shows message: no signal and screen stays dark. However, in the background W-7 is loading, but in order to get the video functioning, I must restart the PC, turn off the screen, wait till W-7 loads somewhat and (like after 10 sec.) turn the screen on and everything is OK.Monitor is NEW Video card too, I tried with a second one, same problem...My question is, is this W-7, main board, or something else related?
Have my Dad's Fujitsu Esprimo laptop to uninstall Searchqu, Bandoo etc for him which were causing problems. That went fine, computer shut down and tried to install Windows updates. Now won't restart.Hangs on Fujitsu screen with options for "<ESC>: Diagnostic Screen, <F2>:BIOS Setup, <F12>: Boot Menu" and Blue progress bar. Progress reaches about 75% complete VERY slowly (hour) but then hangs on black screen with white cursor in top left corner. Been like that for 2 hours now.Have tried solutions from Google - click F2 then re-setting boot order in Bios to "default order", click F12 and choose different options, tried F8 for safe mode, but F8 doesn't do anything.I don't know if it's related to Searchqu, to the updates or if it's just a creepy coincidence and the computer itself is actually broken. He doesn't have a Windows7 installation cd.
Today I tried to boot up my laptop but I am stuck at a blinking cursor on a black screen. To make matters work my keyboard doesn't work either so I can't use F2 or F12 before it boots to the black screen.
Just today i read a post stating that java has a bad virus. Know that i ran a malwarebites scan and it found 1 harmful item and i deleted the item. After restarting my computer from a prompt, my lenova v570 laptop now turns on with a black screen and a movable cursor right after the windows "welcome screen".
ctrl + alt + delete does not work
I have tried in safe mode and it turns on properly. So, i tried to do what others sujjested on other forums, which was to " roll back my graphics driver" after that, nothing has change.
My laptop keeps going to a blue screen and then will go quickly to the black screen in which I can start windows in safe mode or start normally. It does this several times a day. Then when windows starts again it get a window stating that windows experienced a unexpected shutdown.
when I close the lid and open it again the screen doesn't turn on and still closed and I have to shut down from the button. also I edited the power options to do nothing when closing the lid.
What is up with my laptop.... When I turn it on,it shows a black screen in the log-in page.. And even, the start up repair or the system restore dont help me get out of it... Can I b able to fix it widout formatting ?
My mouse cursor stopped moving and I removed the stick because it seemed to be interfering with the USB.The next day, I was playing a game and the keys were malfunctioning and typing more than one letter each or the wrong letter altogether. I tried another keyboard and got similar, yet different errors. One keyboard types hn instead of n. The other won't type certain letters at all, like d or g. I couldn't even log into windows without using the cursor keypad to log in. The language settings are OK. I re-installed the drivers for keyboard and mouse. No dice. Sometimes the mistakes would change. H works now, but was zh a minute ago. I finally did a system repair and afterwards, I could log into windows again. I then typed every letter of the alphabet into Google and there were no problems, but 10 seconds later, the problem is back. Does this sound like a keyboard controller problem?I could type my password when running system repair, so the keyboard works in the boot area. Just not anywhere from windows log on or further.
Here's an example of the alphabet when typing without me correcting it.

I have been having a reoccurring problem for the last week that when I turn my laptop on after being slept, windows boots from scratch and all the programs I had open are gone. A message then pops up with the following info:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen OS Version:6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID:2057
I'm not sure when this has been going on since I usually shut my computer off and go to bed without looking twice at the screen but upon shutting off my computer yesterday, this blue screen appeared:

Is there a way to turn the screen off and on with different shortcuts?
For example, have Shift + F7 [☀] turn off the screen but use Shift + F8 [☼] to only power on the screen (because any key or mouse movement can turn the screen back on).
I have new Dell 2250 laptop and I'm trying to figure out a way to turn off the screen after a few minutes while I have the Windows Media Player going? I have tried this on my desktops over the years and never had any luck so I usually just turned off the monitor manually.
