I decided to clean install the 32 bit version of Windows 7 to see if this would remedy the problem. I had purchased the Windows 7 Professional package so both discs were available to me. The CS4 situation did not improve. However I am not concerned with the CS4 issue at present

i had a terrible problem with a big quantity of extremely important photo files; i formatted a pen drive by error and now i cannot access my photos; the card in the camera card filed as fat; my computer only files in nfts; a window popped up telling i had to format; i didnt realized the risk and formatted; now i cannot open the files because for sure they now are nfts; how could i revert the mistake i did?, there should be a way of reverting from nfts to fat, isnt it?

The problem is I changed the folder permissions of C:Program Files and C:Program Files (x86) to Deny for all users. These included
Authenticated Users
System
Administrators
Users
I was logged in with an Administrator Account. Now the problem is I cannot access the above folders with any user. All my applications installed in those folders do not work.
I tried several solutions available on the net like changing ownership, using THE Administrator account, etc but to no avail and these folders are still locked.
Is there anyway I can access these files or shall I resort to the ultimate step i.e. re-install windows.
I've accidently set another .cnf filetype to be known, as well. It's just so aggravating to see them have an icon as if they're good to open..how can I make them to open with nothing once again..?

I installed it, while installation it allowed to have only 4 partitions.it already had 2 partitions1) Recovery - 15gb2) something i forgot ... some 40MBso i made a partition of 125GB for OSand rest of unallocated space ie some 660gb could not be allocated in more than one partition so i let it be unallocatedso after installtion got completed and OS started i went in disk management and tried to make that unallocated space of 660GB in 2-3 partitions.but it converted all my previous partitions also to dynamic. even recovery partitions.ow do i go back to basic partitions?? particularly about that recovery partition and my C: (OS partition) ??
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo i returned to my work computer after lunch and the resolution had been changed to 800x600, very odd.Now i have spent 2 hours trying to get back my resolution to the 1680x1050 that is was before but i still can not choose anything higher then 1600x1200 under Screen Resolution settings. The one with the correct ratio i can choose is 1280x960 and i'd like to bigger one back.I have updated the driver for my graphics card (ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics accoridng to Device Manager). I have updated the driver for the Monitor (HP LE2201w), but the monitor still shows up as Generic Non-PnP Monitor under Device Manager and now i am out of ideas... I really have no idea what the hell happened when i was gone.(And yes, the computer was locked so it wasn't someone else changing something)Uninstalling the driver for the Generic device does nothing, it pops back up again after installing the correct display driver, or after a restart. It's like the display driver i downloaded from HP is not being installed, no idea why.

View 5 Replies View Relatedso everytime I log-in to my computer it basically restores back to a certian point.And also It starts as a black screen with nothing except for my mouse until I open Task manager and run explorer.exe which for some reason doesnt run on its own anymore. Its probably due to the fact that I wanted to put a cool theme on my computer and that involves replacing the explorer.exe file and explorerframe.dll file, and I did that. But then I decided I didn't need a theme so I put the original Explorer.exe and explorerframe.dll back on to replace the ones I put on before. It changed everything back to normal except for the start orb. I wanted the old start back or atleast a new one. So I got windows Start orb changer. It worked well for some time until at one point everytime I turned on my computer I got an error saying expstart.exe failed and something about bitmaps. and It just black screens until I run explorer.exe from the task manager...and goes back a day or so
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few months ago I did a fresh install of Windows 7, I went from 32 bit to 64 bit. Since then every once in a while I notice that my clock is 2 hours off, I am in central time and when it loses time it loses 2 hours.
I would normally think if I am losing time it is my CMOS battery but it's not like I am losing time, like 23 minutes or an hour and 5 minutes, it is always 2 hours exactly when it happens.
Of late my laptop's DVD-ROM has been giving a lot of problems to me. It isn't being able to read CDs/DVDs. Each time I have to eject the disc, then insert it and do the entire process a lot of times for the CD/DVD to be read.This problem has irritated me for a while now. There are many games which need the CD/DVD to be inserted, and each time when I change the discs, it takes away at least 5-6 minutes.Is there a way by which I can back up the discs in my HDD and play the games without inserting each CD/DVD every time? And the problem is DVD specific. For instance, the DVD of Ashes Cricket 09 is read in 2-3 attempts but that of NBA 2K11 takes at least 7-8 attempts for the laptop to read the disc. Is it a problem with my laptop or the DVDs? And I tried installing Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools, but the installation process keeps on asking me to reboot. After a reboot, it gives the same message.I read somewhere that there are some issues of SPTD drivers on Windows 7 but couldn't really find a solution to it.

In trying to make room on HDD, I deleted windows.old file. So my question is how do I reformat HDD and get back to clean machine without anything loaded and then load XP. Tried to install with XP disc but it would not let me. have Win7 on desktop and love it but it has the horsepower to run it like it should be run.

After I installed the new MB and the new drivers within Win 7 Pro 64 bit, the machine wouldn't boot. So I reverted to the Biostar MB and it still won't boot. I have tried Safe Mode (which just hangs) and I have run Startup Repair several times. How I can further troubleshoot/repair the boot?
