I am building a new system for a friend. I was wondering how do I enable the setup screen for a first time user after I have installed the OS and updated all the drivers and windows updates? Like how do I make it so that when I give him the system and he turns it on for the first time it'll ask him all the setup info like when you start a new computer for the first time.
View 3 RepliesAccounts with parental controls on to enable time restrictions are beyond annoying because the require a password to install or download any update or program, and many programs require passwords to use.
How can I bypass this idiotic "feature" while still enabling time locks.
I am building a computer for my friend, but I want to update all the drivers and tweak things before I hand the system over to him. After I'm done with the updates how do I enable the setup screen you get when you start a computer for the first time? The setup screen that asks you to name your computer an user account? Is this even possible as I would initially be creating a temp user admin account to do all the driver and windows updates, would I then be able to go back, delete the temp account and enable the setup screen so when he turns it on the first time it's as if it's a new retail computer he bought from the store.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I turned on my Toshiba laptop (Satellite P855-S5200) and got some sort of error screen, and then it brought me to a screen asking if I wanted to do a system repair or start windows normally. I chose system repair, but then it seemed to get stuck in that process (It was taking forever and nothing was happening), so I turned off the laptop (I know, big no no), booted in safe mode, and did a system restore to a restore point from about a week ago. The "starting Windows" screen came and went, no problem. Everything seemed fine till I got to the User Selection screen (the default blue one with the little hummingbird or whatever). Then it just sat there on that screen. I could see the hummingbird and the little squiggly lines, but there were no buttons to click my user. I just let it sit there, and after about 5 minutes, the user names popped up, and I was able to continue using the computer without any problems, no other speed issues whatsoever. It now makes me wait every time, always about 5 minutes, before the user names pop up. It does this when I restart the machine and when I try to switch users.

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 OP and gave it to a employee for work. He didn't pass a licensing test and couldnt be hired. The employee disabled the switch user option and I cant log onto the computer now. He has disappeared and cannot be contacted. How do I enable the switch user option again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI spilt some water on my laptop a few days ago but fortunately it's completely dried out and working perfectly.... apart from this minor (but important) issue.
Problem: the system time does not stay correct. Even after manually updating the BIOS time and also even after manually syncing it with the various servers available under the time options.
Fix: set the internet time sync interval to every minute rather than its default setting? How do I do this?
P.S. This couldn't be a CMOS battery issue surely because even when the system is on and plugged in the system time still deviates from correct. (I assume the CMOS battery is only used when the system is powered off.) If I need it replaced, how does that sit with my Dell hardware warranty?

I restored from Carbonite online back up service to my current Win7 Laptop. In the restoration process, it created a user from the previous machine's setup. I now have 2 user's which I would like to replace with "NO USERS" (since I am the sole user). (I use individual file passwords to protect my personal or confidential files.) I can live with one User which would have control over the entire computer rather than an Administrator with other users with different levels of access.
I am concerned with possibly losing access to the files under the new user if I delete the current users.
Okay so i dont have access to any administrator accounts due to the fact that our admin forgot his password and the rest of us are standard users. So can we enable it as a standard user to use the admin account in safe mode?

I have a laptop tracking software on the machine but it can only send out a signal if it is able to get online, so locking the machine down entirely seems like it would be a problem in recovering it. I read about "Guest Mode" that was available in Windows 7 beta's, but not in the final release. I would like to create a "Guest Account" which will require no password to sign on but will also provide the user with very VERY restricted access.
