View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's WAY too slow these past few days. Is there any way to speed it up? I usually get 10.30MB down and 0.88 up. :P But it's soo slow today and I think someone is stealing my internet speed.. sorta. My transfer rate is at its normal state (1.300Mbps with IDM), but when I play game I have a huge latency lag and I can't play ANY online game without loosing connection...

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my Win 7 Pro x64 laptop I have my primary account as an admin, it requires a password to access. The BIOS is password protected as well. I have a laptop tracking software on the machine but it can only send out a signal if it is able to get online, so locking the machine down entirely seems like it would be a problem in recovering it. I read about "Guest Mode" that was available in Windows 7 beta's, but not in the final release. I would like to create a "Guest Account" which will require no password to sign on but will also provide the user with very VERY restricted access.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new HP laptop that has Windows 7 Home Premium install setup on the hard drive. I started and completed the installation. But I don't remember during the install asking me for an Administrator Name & Password. After the installation was completed I did the Recovery Disks, but have not yet rebooted the laptop. When is the Admin Name and Password created? I remember seeing a Rick-PC during the install, but I don't remember it asking for me to input a password. Am I fretting prematurely, or do I need to reboot, or can I use the Recovery Disks to start over?
I've been using an old PC with Windows XP. And I checked out 3 books on Windows 7 at the Library.
I am trying to install Windows 7 enterprise. When it gets to the step to enter the computer name and usually at that same step you setup the username. This installation does not have that step and when I click next it finishes the install reboots and brings me to the login screen. I can log in because there is no username or password set.

I restored from Carbonite online back up service to my current Win7 Laptop. In the restoration process, it created a user from the previous machine's setup. I now have 2 user's which I would like to replace with "NO USERS" (since I am the sole user). (I use individual file passwords to protect my personal or confidential files.) I can live with one User which would have control over the entire computer rather than an Administrator with other users with different levels of access.
I am concerned with possibly losing access to the files under the new user if I delete the current users.
I want to deny all access to removable storage for standard users at our office on one computer. I've been able to deny that access in the user configuration branch of GPedit. However; it restricts all users, even admin, when I enable that setting. how to I get it to differentiate between users? Of course I want admin to have access and standard users not to have access.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had MSPublisher 2007 for three months now with no issues at all but now every time I try to open a file that opens in MSPublisher 2007 I get the following error "Publisher Is Not Installed For Current User. Please Rerun The Setup." but it doesn't matter how many times I rerun the setup, I get that same error! I have no other users on my computer and I am the ONLY person who uses the computer that Publisher is currently installed on! I need to open a file in Publisher so I can make a "fan of the month" certificate for on of my Facebook fan pages. I am a week late on doing that certificate because I was locked out of Facebook for a week! but anyway no matter what I try, Publisher ALWAY gives the that error!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop and a laptop both running Windows 7 Ultimate x86. My desktop is being primarily used as a media server with external hard drives attached to it. I was able to share my external hard drives over the network and my laptop was able to detect them. Right now "password protected sharing" is turned off, but I want to turn it on so that no one except me can access that network. My question is, what is my user name and password? It asks me for my user name and password but I never set one up. Is there a way to find out what my user name and password is? And is there a way to change it so I can pick my own user name and password?

View 0 Replies View RelatedI recently set up a new Systemax SYX-1113 PC with a SSD (C:) for Win 7 Pro and a 1TB HDD (G:) for my user libraries and programs. I need to upgrade the HDD from a 1GB to a 2 GB drive so I cloned the 1TB (G:) drive to a new 2TB (H:) drive. My new challenge is figuring out how to switch the drive letters on the two HDDs so that Windows looks to the new drive for the user directories and program files. I tried using disk manager in Windows 7 and got the BSOD - I guess it didn't like me changing the location of the active user profile. I assume I need to boot the PC from something other than the C: drive to make the change.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI enabled the Admin account and wanted to set password but it put up a warning that doing this would erase all EFS encrypted files, personal certificates and stored passwords for web sites or network resources. To avoid losing data in the future ask the Admin to make a password reset floppy disk. What the heck does that all mean? Is there already one on it set up by default?

How do I go about restoring my password with not losing any indormation and setting?
We bought as exdisplay PC & they told us it would be restored to factory settings. When i start up it immediately tells me user name & password is incorrect. I click okay & it wants me to log into kiosk. From there I have to switch user. I've looked in user accounts a dozen times - there is only on user account (admin) & it's in my name. So where or what is kiosk? I've done the whole "regedit" thing but I don't have a default folder under profiles.
