Windows Repair Installation For Home Premium 7 64 Bit Will Not Run

Aug 23, 2012

I am trying to run a Windows 7 Repair installation and the install is stopping because I have a more recent version of Windows than what is on my DVD. Which is true. I am running Window 7 SP1 and the DVD is just Windows 7.

I am following the tutorial here: Repair Install

I basically chose an "upgrade" vs "custom" when I was asked about the type of upgrade that I wanted to run. The installation proceeded and then stopped and stated that I had a more current version of Windows than what I was trying to install.

Can I still run a repair install?

Windows Upgrade (REPAIR) Install Using Universal Installation CD

Jun 2, 2012

So my 64bit fujitsu lifebook laptop has run into some crazy problems the last few days. Including freezing every several minutes for ages. BSOD a few times a day. Nothing along the taskbar opening. Task Manager making the whole screen turn black etc.I researched alot and tried many things, including chkdsk which just takes to long for it to be realistic (i judge it would take about 1 week to finish)That being said, i want to do a repair install of windows 7, but when i use my universal disc (which has 32bit and 64bit windows 7 on it) it returns the error after the compatibility check:

- You can't upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 64-bit version of the installation disc, or go online to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings.

- 32-bit Windows cannot be upgraded to a 64-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 32-bit version of the Windows installation disc. is there a workaround for this? I know people can make a universal disc easily, so maybe there is a way to do this in reverse

Windows 7 Installation Failure On Toshiba Laptop - Run Startup Repair

May 19, 2011

Specs:
Toshiba laptop
Win7 home premium 64-bit
3gb RAM
freshly formatted hard drive
original media from Toshiba with win7

I am trying to completely wipe this laptop off and start fresh. The recovery partition has been removed as part of my search for a resolution for the problem. When I try to install windows 7 on this machine I start by selecting to format the entire hard drive. It completes this and then starts the installation of windows 7. It take a very long time for windows to unpack the files and copy them to disc. After about an hour and a half it starts asking me for the User name/location/time settings, etc.

After that it reboots to startup windows for the first time. It immediately tells me that windows cannot start and startup repair will need to be run or I can select to ignore this and try to start normally. Either option yields no improvement. After working with each of those options I just decided to reformat the drive and start the install again. Even after the drive was wiped and fully formatted I get the same error once the windows installation finishes.

When the procedure reaches its final step, I keep getting a message that the repair failed and that my system is being restored to its former state. Is there a way to depict the cause of this failure? Does Windows 7 keep a log? Is it accessible?Do you know of any other method to overcome this obstacle?

Have No OS Installation Disk But Need To Use Command Prompt To Repair

Jan 2, 2013

Trying to get windows seven to boot again. Have no installation Disk. Made a recovery disk which has not worked. Tried using super grub boot disk and it did not work. probably messed up the partition order following those instructions. Have Linux Ubuntu 12.04.1LTS installed on separate partition. Have command prompt ability, used bootrec,exe/ RebuildBcd and got total identified windows installations. I'm thinking my best bet is to purchase windows 7 and install clean.

Setup Starting Services Loop - No Repair Or Installation Disk

Feb 8, 2012

My laptop Specs below:
Acer Aspire 5742
Intel i5-480M
6GB DDR3
Intel Graphics

It started when I needed to take the computer back to factory default with a fresh install. It was going back to Acer to have the charger point fixed (charger socket had become loose but still charged when it was held in). I used the control panel interface to reinstall windows, all was going well until the laptop power died, I restarted the laptop and the screen displayed:

"Setup is starting Services" a pop up box then appeared with "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer and then restart installation."

I have searched around the net and found a few guides but most require a repair disc or Installation disk. I have neither. Is there any way of starting the install again? For example from Command Prompt?

Startup Repair - Windows Cannot Repair This Computer Automatically

May 11, 2011

I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".

Windows 7 Nor Windows 7 Repair Disc Will Not Boot, Keep Getting 'startup Repair'

Feb 3, 2012

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 that just shut down & now will not boot Windows 7. Just goes to black screen w/blinking cursor then goes to 'startup repair' (which I'm postiive this is a virus of somekind) & will not allow me to do anything. Just repeats itself. I downloaded Windows 7 repair to a CD-R, chgd BIOS settings to CD/DVD to boot first, saved changes, and will NOT pull/boot up from disc. I've tried 2diff repair discs, both do not work. 'F8' does not do anything for me, not able to get to 'safe mode'. Computer is only 2yrs old.

Asus P9x79 Ssd Installation With New Installation Of Windows 7 Pro?

May 16, 2012

So i have a new SSD Corsair Force 3 240 gig and all I want to do is install Windows 7 Pro on it. This board does not support parted magic (cannot wake from sleep and there are no onboard video to wake up to) so ive resorted to clean all.I have not been able to successfully boot the OS on the SSD. I never intended on setting up raid but apparently all the literature i see is on raid. I created a USB install disk as reccomended onto a 8gig ntfs primary active did the bootsect /nt60 X: and it successfully worked copied the cd over to the flash drive and copied the rste drivers in a folder called drivers My SSD is installed on port 1 6gig sata intel (as this board doesnt have marvel apparrently) My DVD is installed on 3gig Sata port 6 I set up Raid in the bios as reccomended by others (as this is the only way to install ssd?).

Nothing UEFI is enabled There are no other drives hooked up to the computer. Just SSD, USB cordless mouse, keyboard and no network cord or WIFI i started with a clean ssd as reccomended my bios recognized the ssd on post i booted into the win 7 install (MBR not uefi) i loaded the 64 bit rste drivers from asus as reccomended by others i left the machine to install the usb then booted into windows install (for whatever reason) i pushed f8 to boot my corsair windows brings up an error on a black screen File: windows/system32/drivers/adpahci.sys driver did not load Status: oxc0000221 Info: Windows Failed to load because of a critical system driver is missing or corrupt

Installation Error: Setup Cannot Continue Due To A Corrupted Installation File

Sep 13, 2009

I am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:

"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."

Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?

I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.

"Windows Could Not Complete The Installation, To Install Windows On This Computer, Restart The Installation"

Apr 16, 2012

First, my laptop is a Aspire 5250-BZ853. I received it back in October, I think...may've been earlier. But anyhow, it was working just fine yesterday until I did a Windows Update. I had to restart, and it was fine again. But then it began running sluggishly slow, and just terrible overall so I restarted it once more and that was when the problems began.

This entire day, this has been driving me nuts. I have important files on here, and I backed up most on my external harddrive a bit ago but there were a few I missed and hadn't the chance to get (ironically enough the most important, papers and such.) At first, it said my password was wrong -- as if someone had changed it! I restarted it once more, thinking it an error or something, and did that again so I restarted it again. Finally, it worked but I think it logged me in as safe mode somehow. After that, it restarted on its own and began this loop. I did a LOT of searching on Google until finally someone suggested to someone else to try pressing "ALT + F10" I think it was as it was starting, and finally I made progress. Before that, it was just going into a constant rebooting loop and I couldn't even log into safe mode. Trying to reset it back to a time it was working was futile, because it said there was no recovery time there! So that shot that idea down. At last, I got somewhere.as well. I clicked the reset to factory settings, but still keep all the files (and they would be saved to "C:Backup" and I thought it had finally worked. But now as it reinstalls, I got an error saying something about how it needed to restart or something...so when I clicked "okay" it began again, and finally it all just came to a stop on "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

Repair Cd Of Windows 7 64-bit?

Jun 5, 2011

Howdy,I have a question about the repair cd of Windows7 64-bit.I have an Usb harddisk with enough room. When you want create a system copy, than Microsoft gives you the advice for use an external HD. and you can see that your ext. HD. would selected by them. The system copy come on the ext. HD and than done.Okay so far so good, but now is the moment there is a problem when I get my repair cd and load it, when it is loaded in the system, than see I the option Repair with system installation copy. When I hit that option than get I the error message, there is not a system copy on the Computer. No it is not on the Computer it is on my ext. HD. Advice from Microsoft. You don't see also not a menu for select the drive with the system copy.My question in this is, how do you fix your Computer when there is a problem.?If I said, it is not possible for selected the ext. drive via the Repair cd from Windows7 64-bits. Solved! I was looking the information and then I found the solution. When you made a system copy, then you made also a repair cd also known as recovery cd.When the system copy would been changed and not the repair cd, than get you troubles with restore system copy. The program don't find the system copy on your ext. drive. So I did make a new system copy and also a new repair cd and hoppa, it works.About the last question, still have I no answer on this.Than have I another question: By accident with Paragon Backup Restore program, must I created a new installation with the installation cd ( it is not the Repair cd), but I did seen that the installation cd did created a D partition, before this I didn't have. The virtual drive is empty but still has the installation cd from Windows7 used data from that partition. That is strange, because the virtual folder is empty. There is one thing what I can thinking: Windows7 installation created an extra partition from let we say, 7,39 mb ntfs. But than is the question there: Why do I see that from the extra partition with the device letter D, there is 3,68mb in use.?.There are no data in that folder. Now do I hope that there is someone that can explain me, how one or other works.
