View 1 Replies View RelatedI believed I've had set up the Admin password and security code for this router (DIR-615) when I first installed this router @ 2 years ago. But somehow security code seems didn't register. I want to reset the security passcode, but I forgot the Admin's password so I cannot get access to the Dlink router to set up. Is there anyway that I can reset new PW or retrieve it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a customer that has just installed a new Dlink N300 router and cable modem internet. He has both a desk top which is hardwired to the router and a laptop which is using the wireless. The desk top does not have any problem with a connection but when he buts the laptop in hibernation it can not find the wireless connection. The odd thing about it is that even though he can not find his own network he can see other networks around him. Any ideas out there on how to solve this issue. This is the second router that we have installed so I am guessing it is not defective equipment.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a strange issue with my Windows 7 Lenovo S10 netbook and a friends WEP enabled router. I am able to connect to my home network wr54g linksys on WPA and at the office there's a guest network running (oddly) a 104bit WEP that I can use. However at my friends house I was trying to connect to his DI-524 Dlink router and recevied some very strange (to me) messages.
I'm wondering if Windows 7 has some kind of issue with older versions of WEP and possibly lower encryption? Potentially could it be simply that if we kick up the encryption it will work? I'm fairly confident that if I convince him to kick it to WPA it will work - but where's the fun in that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI will be buying a new computer (64 bit). I currently run a 3.5 year old Dell (32 bit) with XP Pro and connect wirelessly with a DLINK router and adapter (DLINK DWA 130 Rev C) which is an N router, which replaced a G level router about 4 months ago. Would it be possible to download a driver that will work on the new machine now, or should I bite the bullet and add an adapter to the new computer? I emailed DLINK and have had no response.

I had an existing pc with windows xp home. I just purchased a new pc with windows 7 home. Why I connected the windows 7 pc to the internet using dlink router I was able to access the internet. On the next day though, when I tried to connect again, I was not able to access the internet. Here are the tasks that I have already carried out to check the connectivity.
1. The windows 7 computer has a valid IP address, which means that ARP is working fine and my router is dispensing the addresses correctly.
2. When I try to ping the modem-router, there is no reply. So I am not able to access router using ICMP.
3. My old windows xp pc is able to connect and browse the internet. The problem is only with my new windows 7 pc.
I personally hate the Homegroup. I would like to remove my laptop from it and was wondering if I do so will I be able to hook my computer up to my laptop?

My office computer is in a network under router. So I forwarded a port 3389 to my computer's internal ip address. Now I want to connect to another computer at my office from home. I tried forwarding the port 3990. But I was not able to access using remote desktop connect.
What should I do to access the second computer. Will 3390, 3391 ... will not work?
I run a web server from my laptop, and my IP address (location) gets updated via DynDNS.org servers. My notebook is always behind a NAT-configured LAN, and I have configured the router firewall to pass port 80 service requests to my IP (usually 192.168.x.2, where x is maybe 0 or 1 or whatever.I use NetSetMan for location based setting).the DHCP server is configured to stay away from static addresses in the private LAN.Most routers have their own port 80 service, the configuration interface, accessible by hosts inside the LAN.I don't have a problem with port 80 service requests coming from the WAN getting passed to 192.168.x.2 host running the web server.BUT, users in the 192.168.x subnet requesting service from within the LAN do NOT get delivered the web page from host 192.168.x.2, but instead the router's configuration interface, if they use the host NAME. Of course, if they use the host IP address, they get the content. What is happening of course is that if anyone uses url..., it goes to DynDNS.org where the IP is resolved to the address a.b.c.d, the WAN IP address of the router I am currently connected to. So the http client bundles the packet to the destination a.b.c.d:80.The users INSIDE the LAN get the router configuration interface web page when they type in a.b.c.d:80, but not users OUTSIDE the LAN (in that WAN).

View 1 Replies View RelatedAny solution to this problem.
I have for example a few machines up and running on a LAN (might be VM's but that shouldn't be an issue).
Say I have five with addresses 192.168.2.2 ==> 192.168.2.6
I might want to RDP to any of these from behind a router.
Using something like No-IP (No-IP - Dynamic DNS, Static DNS for Your Dynamic IP) I can get a an "Internet acessible" domain so I don't need to know the actual IP address that the Internet sees my router.
As I'm behind a router having Multiple domains won't help either as to the external Internet my router is seen as a single IP address.
However the router will only port forward to a single IP address on my LAN.
So if I need to RDP to any other machine on my LAN other than the default one presumably I could only do this by using a different default port for RDP for each of the machines on the LAN. OK not pretty but "Do-able".
Now we get to the real hassle -- If I did this then I'd need a different version of RDP on the CLIENT computer -- not possible if I'm using a work laptop .
Any solutions . I'm totally flumixed by this one.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new Toshiba Tecra R840 on Win7 64 bit. Much of the time, it is connected to a Toshiba docking station. My printer is an older, parallel-only HP LaserJet 6L. It's connected to the PC with a Dynex parallel-to-USB cable.
Here's the thing - Windows installs a new printer driver if I plug the printer cable into a different USB port on either the PC or the docking station. So far, I have three of them. What's worse, each printer driver will only print on the USB port that was used to create it. Quite a nuisance.
Can I do something to have a single printer driver work regardless of which USB port is used?
I have had numerous customers who randomly can't print. Upon looking at their computer, the printer port will be selected on "LPT1" instead of the proper USB or TCP/IP port. I have not been able to find any correlation. This happens on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 on both business and residential computers. Originally I had thought that customers must be attempting repairs on their own. However, after 8 years and seeing this same thing happen to people who are afraid to even attempt to fix their own issue I believe that there must be some bug in Windows that causes this printer port to change.

Does anybody here know of a new model printer that still can use a parallel port and works with windows 7? Nothing else was changed, all setting were set the same. Thought Dells could talk to each other via RF signals, no need for routers.
