Windows 7 Desktop - Connecting Parallel Printer Into Serial Port
May 10, 2011
I have win 7 64 bit desktop with only serial port, com1 i guess. I have an old HP 5P laserjet that has an lpt1 parallel printer cable securely attached to it. i tried to connect a couple of adapters to the cable and plug it into the com port. I don't get any errors and it doesn't print. I took the driver from the hp site. do i need to change the com port settings (baud rate, etc...? What am I missing?
A client of mine uses an old dos based database program that can't print to any printer that uses a USB connection, but it works fine with parallel. I've just upgraded them to Windows 7, and some of their printers (which I didn't know at the time, I wish I did), don't have compatible Windows 7 drivers. Does anybody here know of a new model printer that still can use a parallel port and works with windows 7? I know HP Laserjet 1300 works, because they have several of those, but I'm hoping I can find actual new machines (it's a longshot, I know).
Win7 proffessional service pk 1. Parallell port does not work. i have set the port address as per the device manager, the port is enabled in the bios, on some systems this works on others with the same os it does not is there any address or settings in the registry i should be setting or changing.
At work we installed 2 new desktop computers in a network with windows 7 so we had to update our Canon IR 2200 driver to make the printer work properly.
Sometimes when we want to print files the machine is printing nonsense (zdingbats on the upper side of the paper but only a few lines not the whole page) and we have to cancel the printing task on the printer because apparently once it starts it won't stop.
On the screen of the printer in the journal there is written: document name: parallel port print job (instead of microsoft word, excel, ...) username: / (instead of the name of our network)
bug in the driver or is there something wrong with the connexion?
I have an HP Pavillion dv6000. I'm using a parallel port expresscard that I am trying to use with a printer who's driver needs to know the port number. How can I find and/or set the COM port for the expresscard?
I have just tried to install the prolific USB-Serial COM PORT Driver Windows 7 Home 64 bit to connect my Garmin summit. As hard as I have tried I cannot find a driver that works, I am using a PFRANC data cable that worked with my XP Pro PC with out any problems.i have updated my windows drivers.
I have an HP Laserjet 1100 printer I am trying to connect to my new Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 32 bit OS computer. Drivers are installed and I have had this printer on other Windows 7 32 bit computers with parallel ports. The new computer does not have a parallel port visible, so I thought I'd try a parallel to USB cable and attack it from that angle. I plugged the USB end into the computer first and then connected my USB -> parallel cable to the printer's parallel cable. Windows 7 Devices and Printers now shows a IEEE-1284 Controller that wasn't there before. How do I make this device my primary printer?
I installed a rosewill RC-302 parallel port card to support my trusty HPPCS 500. I installed the correct printer driver but all I get is an error when I try a test page.
I downloaded the parallel card driver but not sure it installed. I read that win7 would auto detect it but neither ever displayed even after powering off and on.
I am using a hyperterminal software called Coolterm. I have used it in the past with success, however now when I run it I get an error "No serial ports found, Your system currently does not have any serial ports. Unless at least one serial port is added, this application will no tbe usable".
I recently experienced BSOD while using NetBeans IDE to send commands to my robot(project) through serial port. I actually connected a ZigBee module to my Serial Port and sent commands to my robot using interface created in NetBeans. This occurs everytime i use NB IDE.If using emulator no problem occurs. But i need to send commands through NB IDE only as part of my project.

I can switch between any two that I want but I cant get all three to work at the same time. I try to use all three at the same time I get "to extend the display another display must be disabled".
I have a Gigabyte motherboard gigabyte 890fxa-ud5 which I am using on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have the latest drivers for the LAN ports but I am experiencing an issue with one of the LAN ports only connecting at 10.0mbps if I attempt to use the other LAN port on the motherboard this is connecting at 1gbs. The LAN port that is only connecting at 10.0mbps is only showing an orange light on the router and not green. I have removed the drivers and reinstalled, I have also tried different cables and the port only connects at 10.0mbps. I have the latest BIOS installed for the motherboard as well.

I am having huge issues getting my new Samsung SCX 3405FW printer to connect wirelessly to my PC running Windows 7.
I have run through the instalation process many times and it always ends with 2 outcomes.
1) When I try to create a network between my printer - router - PC it states that my WPA2 password is invalid. It is not!
2) When I attempt to create an "ad-hoc" network direct from the printer to the PC the instalation process untils it reaches near the end and it tells me that my must enable "portthru" in my network settings. The only place that I can see one can add a "portthru" thing is via my firewall settings.
I have had Samsung on the phone for hours and they cannot fix it. Yes, I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the software and drivers for the printer. I have tried a reset to factory settings on the printer etc etc.
The only printer in my network is on a computer running XP, and my 7 laptop needs to connect to it. How do I do this? I already used my XP computer to set up a workgroup, but I can't figure out how to connect to it on 7.
I have a office setup where two of the computers run on windows XP professional and the other two run on Windows 7 home edition. I want to connect all of them to a common printer through the port. I can't get a Samsung ML 3560 Laser printer to operate with my desktop computer which is running Windows 7 Home Premium. There is nothing wrong with the printer or USB cable - they work fine with my laptop running XP.I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for Windows 7 (and have checked this with Samsung), but for some reason the printer isn't showing up in device manager.I have tried connecting to various USB ports.
Using a Toshiba Nb205 mini notebook with windows 7 starter. Trying to connect to a printer on my home desktop that is running Windows XP. The notebook could not find the printer but it found the router and i have Internet access. The printer also has built in wifi but the notebook does not detect it either. Any solutions?
Answer:-
Is the XP PC set to share the printer? File and printer sharing need to be enabled and the XP PC and Windows 7 notebook need to be in the same "workgroup".
