I installed a rosewill RC-302 parallel port card to support my trusty HPPCS 500. I installed the correct printer driver but all I get is an error when I try a test page.
I downloaded the parallel card driver but not sure it installed. I read that win7 would auto detect it but neither ever displayed even after powering off and on.
I can't get my HP LaserJet 4 Plus parallel printer to work via USB to my new laptop with Windows 7 Premium 64 bit. My HP DeskJet 820 Cse doesn't work either. On eBay, I bought a USB to parallel printer cable adapter (Pluscom). Windows says it is working correctly, but nothing happens when connecting one of these two printers.First I tried to print with the LaserJet: nothing. Then the DeskJet: nothing. I'm even unable to edit the properties of the DeskJet: Windows tells me that the print spooler is not working (I don't receive this error message while choosing the LaserJet).A system restore to some days earlier (before I installed the printers) is also failing; Windows tells me this is because of antivirus (Avira free antivirus, up-to-date).
A client of mine uses an old dos based database program that can't print to any printer that uses a USB connection, but it works fine with parallel. I've just upgraded them to Windows 7, and some of their printers (which I didn't know at the time, I wish I did), don't have compatible Windows 7 drivers. Does anybody here know of a new model printer that still can use a parallel port and works with windows 7? I know HP Laserjet 1300 works, because they have several of those, but I'm hoping I can find actual new machines (it's a longshot, I know).
I have win 7 64 bit desktop with only serial port, com1 i guess. I have an old HP 5P laserjet that has an lpt1 parallel printer cable securely attached to it. i tried to connect a couple of adapters to the cable and plug it into the com port. I don't get any errors and it doesn't print. I took the driver from the hp site. do i need to change the com port settings (baud rate, etc...? What am I missing?
I have an HP Laserjet 1100 printer I am trying to connect to my new Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 32 bit OS computer. Drivers are installed and I have had this printer on other Windows 7 32 bit computers with parallel ports. The new computer does not have a parallel port visible, so I thought I'd try a parallel to USB cable and attack it from that angle. I plugged the USB end into the computer first and then connected my USB -> parallel cable to the printer's parallel cable. Windows 7 Devices and Printers now shows a IEEE-1284 Controller that wasn't there before. How do I make this device my primary printer?
I have a problem with my printer, my printer stops working frequently. printer continues to work only after the "printer spool service" restarted manually
I have a Laserjet 5N (I know, pretty old) connected via parallel (LPT1) port to my computer. It worked just fine on my old machine with Windows XP on it, however, I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 on it and I've been having problems making it work ever since.I went to Control Panel > Devices and PriFnters > Add printer, did the "Windows Update" which updated the list of drivers and the HP LaserJet 5N was listed there.
Win7 proffessional service pk 1. Parallell port does not work. i have set the port address as per the device manager, the port is enabled in the bios, on some systems this works on others with the same os it does not is there any address or settings in the registry i should be setting or changing.
At work we installed 2 new desktop computers in a network with windows 7 so we had to update our Canon IR 2200 driver to make the printer work properly.
Sometimes when we want to print files the machine is printing nonsense (zdingbats on the upper side of the paper but only a few lines not the whole page) and we have to cancel the printing task on the printer because apparently once it starts it won't stop.
On the screen of the printer in the journal there is written: document name: parallel port print job (instead of microsoft word, excel, ...) username: / (instead of the name of our network)
bug in the driver or is there something wrong with the connexion?
I have an HP Pavillion dv6000. I'm using a parallel port expresscard that I am trying to use with a printer who's driver needs to know the port number. How can I find and/or set the COM port for the expresscard?
The printer works fine after the PC is rebooted or just turned on, but as soon as it returns from sleep I cannot print to the USB printer. I have the port set to "do not turn this device off" but none of those power settings for the USB hubs seem to work.
I had to use the Troubleshooter to allow the USB mouse/Keyboard to reinitialize after sleep, but the troubleshooter does not apply the same fix for the USP printer. Is there some way to do this manually?
I know MS is trying to remove options and configurations for the average PC user, but I've been working in IT for years now and there are a bunch of things that I would at least have the option of turning on/off but some features don't exist in Windows 7 (like UP button in My Computer).
Anyone have an idea how to make the printer work from sleep without having to unplug and re-plug the USB cord in? It's a PITA.
I just purchased the Kodak ESP C310 wireless printer. I have a Toshiba laptop Windows 7. and I cannot get the disk to printer to download and cannot get any connectivity to printer.
I've recently updated from windows xp to windows 7 professional.I cannot get the cd print facility on the printer to work.epson are not able to provide a solution apart from buying a new printer.
My computer has been running slow since we had all our files switched over from our old computer to our new one. It's an HP we got in December 2010. Programs run slow and whenever we turn the computer on from sleep mode,it usually takes 30 seconds or so to get anything requiring an internet connection to fully work. Disks won't open most of the time and I can't install anything. Whenever we try to scan our computer for viruses, it will end up telling us it couldn't finish the scan because it wasn't able to scan a certain file.
I have 2 adobe pdf ports currently set up on my system. One is print to file which I don't know where that came from but every time I try to use it, it prints an "invalid file" after I enter the mile long output file name ending in .pdf.Using the other adobe pdf printer port I click print and it doesn't ask for a file name/location it just shuts down as if it printed to somewhere but I don't know where. How do I get this printer set up correctly. Currently have adobe acrobat 8 pro installed
Wireless printer had been configured to laptop via netgear router and wired to desktop as well. netgear router crapped out and was replaced with previously owned linksys wireless router; laptop no longer communicates with printer.
I have been having trouble with my usb ports not reading my flash drives. I just did a little test and was shocked to find that my usb ports will run printer and not flash drives? I tried to update the drivers but it says they are up to date. What can cause this? It is 5usb ports 2 in back and three across the front. My system is a Dell Studio XPS Desktop 435T/9000 64 bit windows 7.
