View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been getting this error. This is quite a pain when it comes to installing some things, like the newest version of iTunes, some games bought through Steam, etc. I also think it may be the reason why some updates aren't installing right away anymore. I also can't access things like Add And Remove programs, and I believe this is it (as another question, is it potentially? If not, then what is?). Because of it, thins like Adobe Flash Player also won't update. I've been trying to find a way to fix it, but none work. When I try to Google how to reinstall it, I usually get old XP help, or Vista- and I'm not sure that works. This is a problem that's really annoying me, and I will take my laptop to Geek Squad if I can't figure this out. To clarify, this is a Windows 7, Acer, 64 bit
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis happened the last time I reformated and I don't really understand what's going on. I have 4 harddrives. 1 SSD and the rest are standard 7200RPM drives. This is the error I get when I try to install something.
Weird thing is I can't even play games cause I get this error too.
I did unplug the harddrives from the motherboard when I cleaned it, don't know if that could cause a problem, I don't believe they we're put in the same spots.
probably my Windows installation service is broken or otherwise nonfunctional. Although the windows installer doesnot report anything wrong, I'm having many bluescreens in last days, mostly just when installing or uninstalling something via Windows Installer. No crash dumps.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had meant to say that all of a sudden I can't use windows installer service I get error code 8007641 or error code 641. I'm unsure why I'm not able to use windows installer anymore and I'm not able to get valuable updates from windows without it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't install or uninstall anything more. It has been running just fine, but suddently I get this error when trying to install or uninstall:
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.
How can I correct this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo it was all happened yesterday , all of my Windows 7 services stopped (Windows Firewall, Network, Connections, etc)*2 months ago, I wanted to play Hitman Absolution but my Windows 7 was not SP1, so than I downloaded Advanced System Care (it's Pro of course), and scanned my computer with it, found errors, and automatically repaired by it (it seems that Advanced System Care downloaded Windows Update too) and I was able to play Hitman , and Far Cry 3 until yesterday*i noticed on the taskbar if Windows Firewall has stopped, I thought it was a simple problem, but it wasn't. Tried to turn it on = failed , from service.msc = failed , and i checked most of Windows 7 services stopped eventhough they're all set "Automatic" in msconfigTried SFC scan, Windows Fix-it , was a failure, tried to enable services manually , stopped again after reboot

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am getting the "Windows Installer Service Could not be accessed" error. Every time I try to install a new program I get this message. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I purchased my computer about a year ago from best buy and they didn't give me a Windows 7 installation disc, so I can't do a clean install if I wanted to (though I prefer not to, of course).I have tried:1) re-registering Windows Installer with the msiexec /regserver2) running sfc /scannw3) running a system restore (though I can only restore to about 5 days ago to before(?) I did a system update) and it says it could not complete the restore (I think because of a corrupted file?)4) chkdsk5) scan with AVG & Trendmicro housecallI have been working on this for about 10 hours now..very frustrating! I feel like I am out of luck.
Most of the fixes I find online seem not to work for Windows 7I am also experiencing other problems now as well: Windows Media Player is saying "the file wmploc.dll has a version number 12.0.7601.17514 where 12.0.7600.16667 was expected"It seems like a new thing is breaking every second! When I go to services.msc it says it can't run the activex controls to show me the properties.
I can no longer search in outlook. I've traced this back to the search indexing - if I go to control panel > indexing options it states "indexing is not running".Sure enough, if I go to services the Windows Search Service is stopped (even though it's set to start on "automatic (delayed start)")If I try to start it manually it says : "The Windows Search service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs".Goggling the error takes me to this very specific microsoft support article which covers exactly this error: Windows Search Service will not start, Error: "The Windows Search service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs".The article states the solution is to delete all the files in the "C:windowssystem32configTxR" directory. But I tried this and only some were deleted, but 3 remain as they were "in use".I've googled around for ways to delete locked files, and tried every trick in the locked files book - but I just cannot get rid of these 3 files - and if these files are what's stopping the search service from starting then apparently I'm screwed...
I've tried deleting them using an admin cmd prompt, safe mode with command prompt, removing the system/hidden attributes etc etc, even lockhunter gave up on these files complaining that it was the system that was using them so it couldn't delete/rename them or kill the locking process.I use the outlook search all the time (I have zillions of stored emails) and not being able to search is a nightmare...
Virtual Disk Service often stops working in my notebook HP G60 125NR.the dependencies PLUG-N-PLAY and REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL are running.Without VDS, my Notebook does not recognize many USB devices and USB HArd Disk.HOW TO ENSURE THAT VDS DOES NOT STOP? Or. HOW TO RESTRART IT?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to run Windows Update it comes up with a dialogue box that says "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer." I believe my computer is Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I've tried a lot of the fixes that have been posted, but none of them worked. I tried running an SFC (I think that's what it was called, sorry I'm not very computer smart), rebooting my computer, and doing a system restoreAlso, Windows Update doesn't show in services.msc. I saw one post that said something to do with Windows Security Center can make Windows Update do this, but my Windows Security Center doesn't work either. Whenever I try to turn it on, it says "The Windows Security Center service can't be started." Windows Security Center is also not in services.msc for me. I know that Windows Update worked 2 months ago, but that was the last time I tried using it

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a two month old, custom built desktop running Windows 7 and last Friday, without any seeming provocation, my wireless network disappeared. My computer is completely unable to see any wireless networks. My router is working fine (I'm using it to post this from another computer), and my wireless adapter works perfectly (again, using it to post this). When I ask Windows to diagnose the problem, it tells me that the Windows wireless service is not running. After much research and several sfc scans, I can safely say that it appears to be a registry issue. System restores, both by Windows and from backups have failed to correct the errors. I've seen several possible solutions like:Run CMD as Admin... netsh winsock reset catalog netsh int ipv4 reset "c:eset.log" netsh int ipv6 reset "c:eset.log"andWindows wireless service is not running on this computer - Microsoft AnswersandGo into the registry with regedit for this:[CODE]
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy indexing stopped. When I checked "Windows Search" service is in auto startup mode but it wasn't running. When I tried to manually start, it gave me "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." message.
Without an ability to search my computer I am pretty much lost now.
I'm encountering an extremely strange issue on my desktop. I keep getting SSL errors when ever I try to go to google.com, gmail.com or dozens of other sites on google chrome. The exact error is "The site's security certificate is signed using a weak signature algorithm". I can't reach the site at all.Windows Update service is also not running and doesn't even show up in "services.msc". I get this error "Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer". Obviously restarting doesn't help. I also got a similar error for Microsoft Security Essentials, and it wouldn't run at all so I uninstalled it.MSI Afterburner also gives me an error when I start it up about how I need to restart to properly detect my hard ware, but I didn't do that before and I tried restarting with that as well.I've run many, many, scans to detect trojans, viruses, and spyware using AVG Free, Spybot Search and Destroy, Malware Bytes, Spyware Doctor, Kapernsky's Rootkit tool. AVG, and Malware Bytes both turned up and deleted some basic malware & spyware. The others can't detect anything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not sure if this problem is due to a user account issue or a printer issue.
I cannot add a printer and all my printers from Windows XP were wiped out. I use this machine for business and I did not want to do a file and settings transfer so I updated to Vista and then updated to Windows 7 from there.
I had a bunch of printers installed including a couple of wierd ones such as a FileCabinet Printer, Adobe Acrobat Writer, CutePDF writer, etc. I don't know if these strange printer drivers affected the upgrade but now I cannot add a printer. I tried services.msc and attempted to start the spooler service, it usually is already running and its on automatic. Its not that, its something deeper than that. I also right clicked the spooler service and made sure the check box was checked for allowing the user to interact with it.
I found a Microsoft post for XP: You cannot add a printer and you receive printer spooler error messages in Windows XP
I've been trying to chase this issue for quite some time now. Randomly I experience a crash to desktop when playing Battlefield 2. Doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason, just bam!
The only thing I can spot in the logs is one in system saying: (Happens Everytime) Quote: "The PnkBstrB service entered the stopped state." There is also one that will show in the app log saying: (Happens once in awhile) Quote: "Faulting application name: bf2.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4a8d6629
Faulting module name: Memory.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x497ec791

I'm having some problems with event viewer. When I go to open it, it gives me the "Event Log service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running." error. I've tried going through the steps Microsoft gives for creating new log files if yours are corrupted. Problem is, the .evt file doesn't exist.
I've researched the problem a lot and I do have UxStyle Core installed which is patching the files necessary to install third party themes, and I have heard that this may cause some issues with the event log, but everyone I saw undo any patching and even rollback updates, go to previous restore points, etc.
