I had meant to say that all of a sudden I can't use windows installer service I get error code 8007641 or error code 641. I'm unsure why I'm not able to use windows installer anymore and I'm not able to get valuable updates from windows without it.

I can't install or uninstall anything more. It has been running just fine, but suddently I get this error when trying to install or uninstall:
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.
How can I correct this?

View 9 Replies View Relatedupgrade my system from Windows XP Pro SP3. The setup starts and gets past creating a user account, setting a computer name etc and then restarts and looks like Windows 7 is going to startup and then I get a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH with:
STOP: C000021a [Fatal System Error}
The intial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0xC0000001 0x00100400)
It then mentions about dumping the memory out to disk and reboots. If i press F8 and attempt to boot SAFE MODE I get a requester saying that setup cannot be completed in Safe Mode. If try the startup recovery the first time it says it fixed a problem and wants to restart again but it has fixed nothing. Next time the startup recovery just runs and doesn't appear to finish.
I have run the Windows Memeory Diagnostic within the setup and memory checks out fine. I initially thought the onboad audio chipset was the issue and disabled that but it made no difference. I did get one successful installation but it eventually crashed and burned with the same error after approximately 12 hours.
When I try to install W7SP1, I get an error message after it tries to install after restarting after having downloaded it in Windows Update. It's error code 0x800f0826. IT used to be 0x80071a9, but I fixed that I think.
Note: My laptop does not have a built in disc reader, because of its design, nor did it come with any W7 CD's.
I have tried to install this update six times today (07/05/12) after it was flagged as an important update this morning. Looking at my update history it also failed to instal on the 18th October last year but it has not bothered me since and i have not noticed it until now. Of the seven attempts I had the following error codes from earliest to latest : 800B0100, 80246007, 80010108, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D. I have followed advice from MS running KB947821 and FIX IT also disabled my Norton 360 firewalls and auto protect but to no avail. Also I do not have a DVD with Windows 7 as it was not supplied with my PC and I don't want to restore my computer and lose all my installed software.

This is quite a pain when it comes to installing some things, like the newest version of iTunes, some games bought through Steam, etc. I also think it may be the reason why some updates aren't installing right away anymore. I also can't access things like Add And Remove programs, and I believe this is it (as another question, is it potentially? If not, then what is?). Because of it, thins like Adobe Flash Player also won't update. I've been trying to find a way to fix it, but none work. When I try to Google how to reinstall it, I usually get old XP help, or Vista- and I'm not sure that works. View 5 Replies View RelatedThis happened the last time I reformated and I don't really understand what's going on. I have 4 harddrives. 1 SSD and the rest are standard 7200RPM drives. This is the error I get when I try to install something.
Weird thing is I can't even play games cause I get this error too.
I did unplug the harddrives from the motherboard when I cleaned it, don't know if that could cause a problem, I don't believe they we're put in the same spots.
probably my Windows installation service is broken or otherwise nonfunctional. Although the windows installer doesnot report anything wrong, I'm having many bluescreens in last days, mostly just when installing or uninstalling something via Windows Installer. No crash dumps.

I am getting the "Windows Installer Service Could not be accessed" error. Every time I try to install a new program I get this message. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I purchased my computer about a year ago from best buy and they didn't give me a Windows 7 installation disc, so I can't do a clean install if I wanted to (though I prefer not to, of course).I have tried:1) re-registering Windows Installer with the msiexec /regserver2) running sfc /scannw3) running a system restore (though I can only restore to about 5 days ago to before(?) I did a system update) and it says it could not complete the restore (I think because of a corrupted file?)4) chkdsk5) scan with AVG & Trendmicro housecallI have been working on this for about 10 hours now..very frustrating! Installers have worked previously, it's only recently it's stopped working.The error is;Error opening files for writing?
What I've tried;
-Full system scan with Comodo AV.
-Revealed hidden files and folders.
-Run the installer in both compatability (Even though it does work on Windows 7, and as an Administrator).
-Also done the scan on CMD (can't remember exact command).

I installed Rosetta Stone the other day it worked fine after i fixed another problem, i installed a language pack, bla bla bla bla...I wanted to delete the language pack because it would only let me install one language pack and i couldn't find a way to delete it, bla bla bla bla bla....... So anyway i deleted the language pack manually but when i opened rosetta stone, it opened up windows installer and it said "configuring rosetta stone" or something like that. and after that it said "the installer has encountered an unexpected error......" ".......The error code is 2203. I can't find a way to get it back?

I went to services.msc and realized that I don't actually have a 'Windows Installer'. I know Windows Redistribute 4.5 does not work for Windows 7, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to solve this problem?
It is strange because I can install some things but not others. For example, I can install Digsby.

Edit: I noticed some sites said that the lack of Windows Installer meant that my Windows 7 is not legal/counterfeit. However, I purchased the laptop from Lenovo with a complimentary copy of Windows 7, and I have already verified authenticity, so that isn't the problem.
I just tried to watch a movie on Netflix, and it prompted me to upgrade Microsoft Silverlight. I saved the file to my desktop, and when I tried to open the .exe file, I got this error message from Windows Installer: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
I tried moving the downloaded file to a different location, but it had no effect. I apparently can't play any movie now from Netflix, since I have to update Silverlight before I can play anything.

Specs: MSI X58 mobo, Intel Core i7, 16g ram, gForce 9500 video with dual DVI out, 740g drive, Win 7 Pro 64b.
I built this machine and it has been running great for months and last week it started to freak out. My wife was having issues with Word crashing; started just after the updates from last week (smells funny). I figured, well, I can't see any problems, more than likely a bad update, MS will fix this week.Well, no. It's gotten worse. I started getting the 1719 error, and have searched the web high and low for anything to fix it. I followed instructions that don't work (or don't work anymore). I can't reinstall windows, because the disc is now so old, vs the updated service packed version on the machine.I tried a fix from MS to fix installer issues, but it died on the vine - can't find the server, try again later.The guts of the problem? I have a number of stuck windows updates just dying to be done, but they won't install. One does, but it's back upon reboot.
As soon as I log in Acrobat 8 Standard tries to update; but I get the 1719 error and the update ends. Same with office. It has apparently tried to install SP3, but with zero success.I can run it from the run line in the start box but when I click on Word, it wants to finish SP3, but blows when it can't find it.
