View 2 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded and installed Windows 7 Virtual Machine and XP Mode. Everything went smoothly.
The software I wish to install in XP mode uses a PCMCIA card (with dongle) to communicate with various machine controls for troubleshooting.
My HP Pavilion laptop has an ExpressCard slot for which I can buy an ExpressCard to PCMCIA adaptor.
My questions is: Will the XP Mode software running on the Win 7 machine support and utilize the ExpressCard slot?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to allow full screen Windows applications overlapping task bar under Windows 7. The "auto hide" is not the option due to user requirements. One possible solution is to change the code of those applications to allow them overlapping task bar, but it will imply a lot of work as we have many of them already running at customer's side. The best would be just to remove programmatically the "topmost" style of task bar window, but my code failed to do that with the error 0x00000005 "Access denied".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am attemptin to make a backup image of my hard drive. The new Image will be complied on an external hard. The drive has a 1TB Capacity with 450 Gigs free. I am receiving an error code during the image compilation stating that there is a problem with the I/O device. I ran chkdsk and found no problems. I also switched USB ports just to rule that out. I have used this same external hard drive to image a different laptop with no issues last week. My next approach would be to try this in safe mode. When I am in safe mode, I cannot find the location of the software which windows uses to create the image. I typed the location into the address bar and it pulled up a link in the address bar which took me back to the control panel. Can anyone tell me if this is possible to do in safe mode and if not, what my next step would be. Windows error: The Operation failed due to a device error encountered with either the source or destination. If the source or destination volume is on a disk, run CHKDSK/R on the source or destination volume and then retry the operation. (0x8078012D) Additional Information: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error (0x8007045D)?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am working in Windows 7 XP Mode, trying to install and run a Microsoft utility called: WT1230: Batch File Converter for PowerPoint for Windows 95. (See WT1230: Batch File Converter for PowerPoint for Windows 95). Yes, the utility is intended for Win95, but I'd like to see if I can get it running in XP Mode. The utility installation instructions ask that I copy 2 files to the "Windows/system" folder. Of course, these instructions were written for Win95, not XP, let alone XP Mode. Still... if I copy the files, the core executable runs fine, but it can't find the 2 files that should be in "Windows/System". So, I gather XP Mode must have its own Windows/System folder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a possible way to switch Windows users while a game is maximized? I feel like I used to have a windows system that had a button on the keyboard that I would accidentally press from time to time, and it would send me directly to my windows users list while keeping my full-screen game active. I'm looking for that same functionality here.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOn this recent windows update, 2/14/13, my computer froze on the "Preparing to configure windows" screen for several hours. I rebooted normally and the screen went to "configuring updates" and stuck at 67% for about an hour. I got frustrated with it and rebooted to safe mode to see if I could do a system restore and when I did it said there was no restore point back up! So I rebooted normally and now it is still just sitting on the "Preparing to Configure Windows" screen with the circle spinning. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on a Dell Dimension 2400.
