I login as John (account type = Administrator) on my Windows 7 Home Premium. My computer System Name is HomePC.When I launched the "System Information" via msinfo32.exe, why does it show the "User Name" as HOMEPCuser instead of HOMEPCJohn
I have recently bought a computer from a friend (2nd hand). I ran msinfo32.exe in the run box and it shoot out the system information. On there I notice that the manufacture was incorrect and so it the model number. The desktop is a dell and the model is Inspiron 570 MT. I wanted to change it back to these vales but was unable to.I tried using regedit searching under to change data under the name Base Board Manufacturer, system family, system Manufacture and system product name. I've successfully replaced it with the correct manufacture and product name but as I recheck msinfo32.exe it was still unchanged. I tried restarting it hoping that it would refresh the msinfo32.exe but all it did was restoring all the data that I edited.
When starting my computer, I keep getting a "start up repair" window, where my computer is checking for system problems. After it does this for a while, another window pops up says that I can chose to send information to Microsoft or not. No matter what I do from here, every time I start my computer I get the same message, and I cannot access my desktop with it.
My new HP desktop is running Windows 7, 64-bit Home Premium. Can anyone tell me how I can make my HP Officejet 7310 All-in-One work with this new operating system?
I've been noticing my system is very slowly lately. I'm also constantly getting "not responding" messages. So far I have tried sfc /scannow, and chkdsk /r . Both came back fine. Suspecting Hard drive problem I downloaded and ran Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Diagnostics (it's a WD drive). That too came back with a clean report. I have run the usual maintenance duties like defrag but still no good. Also checked for malware with Spybot.
I am getting error messages on start up first one is C:windowssystem32igfxtray.exe and the second one is C:windowssystem32igfxpers.ex

I had been having problems previously with this same system getting multiple BSOD everyday with varying messages on them. I was told after it was looked at that I had corruption in my registry and the easiest solution was to just re-install Windows. I went ahead and did that and even after a fresh install i'm still getting BSOD. I tried several re-installs and have been getting the same issues every time. There doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern to it doing it, just happens here and there. It doesn't seem to be the same frequency it used to but it's still happening. The only message i've seen thus far is "Memory_Management". During this last re-install, all I did was install Windows 7 Ultimate x64, loaded the necessary, updated drivers for my graphics card and motherboard and just left it, still got the blue screen.
Seems that HP is way behind the curve again. It took them almost 4 months to write Vista drivers for the Color LaserJet 2600N (and the stickers on the box were touting "Made for Vista or some rubbish while the drivers were not available).
So here we are on the Windows 7 launch date and what does HP have to say?
Print drivers for your product will be available for download from HP when Windows 7 is launched worldwide.

My Lapton is an Acer Aspire 5333; O.S. is Windows 7, Anti-virus is ESET NOD 32, which is fully up to date. The day after undertaking the latest MS Updates, my laptop is running (just) very slowly, crashes inferquently, and takes an age to open even simply items like excel spreadsheet etc. I have run a full scan using and the A.V. found nothing (after several hours of chugging). This first occured on Thursday 21st (three days ago). I now have the following message in the bottom right of the desktop.Build 7601his copy of windows is not genuineI know the copy of windows is genuine, as it was pre-installed on laptop when purchased new circa 13 months ago.I have just also had a pop-up message in the middle of the screen, with warning triangles etc around it."You may be a victim of software counterfitting"Please follow the below link...........etc etcI've had a quick check on Google, and it appears i am not alone with this issueI would not describe my technological knowledge of P.C. workings as anything other than "entry level beginner"
I have had my Asus laptop for almost a year with no problems with the OS. After weeks in hospital finally got home and turned on the laptop. Now I am getting repeated error messages saying my OS is not genuine.
So I have been having troubles with my games recently I have no idea why it is happening but every time I try starting up my games such as Star Wars titles because they are on sale on steam so I picked them up, for Star Wars Battlefront 2 I get to the main menu pick new game and then it says play training I select it and it goes black and takes me to my desktop and there is no error message displayed, and for Star Wars Empire at War it gets passed the game logo's lucas arts ect.. and then it goes black and again no error message
I use XCOPY to automatically backup my files.I use the following switches:/C - Ignore errors/Q - Copy quietI would like to see a report of any error XCOPY encounters while copying, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this.Does anyone know if there is a way to make XCOPY provide error detail even while using above switches?
I've started to get random BSOD's on my computer a few weeks back. They seem to have, in all cases but one, been triggered while running a game in fullscreen. A couple of times the computer also just froze, without any BSOD. The funny part is; I've gotten at least four different kinds of error messages on those BSODs. Here are the details: BSOD error messages.
when i start laptop it shows a message box that windows loading script "C:windows Microsoft Update.sys"failed How to remove this message permanently without formatting the laptop.OS is windows 7
This computer has been experiencing BSODs with varying messages for quite some time now, and I've replaced most of the hardware components-- processor, motherboard, power supply, memory and video card-- in trying to find the faulty component. Since the newest hardware iteration is still experiencing errors, I'm led to believe the problem lies in the software rather than the hardware. I've attached the Seven Forums folder and updated the system info in my profile to the best of my ability as requested, since this stuff is way above my understanding.
