Recently, I got an Acer z5610 AllInOne computer.Everything is installed and working fine.The problem I have now, is that I need to install a second hard drive(64 bit SSD)I opened the case, installed the drive, and windows recognised it immediately.Now I want to change the system from old HDD to the new SSD. Is there a shortcut? Acer eRecovery doesn't seem to support system drive change.
View 2 RepliesI have my daughter's Acer 4820T laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium with 4GB DDR3 memory. The original HD failed, and I had to purchase the eRecovery media from Acer as she had not created them when it was working fine. I installed the new HD a 500GB Seagate, but when I run the eRecovery, I am able to choose the UI Language, and on the next screen where the choice of recovery options appear, the only one of the 3 options available is Exit. Both the Restore to Factory Settings and the Restore OS Saving Data options are grayed out. I tried changing the SATA method in the BIOS from ACHI to IDE. I wrote Tech Support but the system is 18 months old and out of warranty, and the only help they offered was to tell me to partition the drive with one partition formatted NTFS, directions to their support link.

Losing hope, I try using the 4 recovery disks GeekSquad gave me when I bought the computer. I choose the option to restore my computer to factory defaults while backing up my personal files. Everything goes smoothly up until the "updating system" part. According to the time-elapsed, it's been 10 hours since its been frozen on 99% (still on Disc 3 of the 4). I'm going to put in Disc 4 and leave it for another couple hours while I go to school. If I don't see any changes, I'm going to force a shut down and reboot the computer. Will this harm my computer, and possibly corrupt my system?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI tried to restore Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit on a new 700GB hard drive on my ACER Inspire X3950 by using the 3 recovery DVD's that were created by ACER eRecovery Management Software. The computer won't boot even when Safe Mode is selected.
Is it a formatting issue of the new hard drive? The original hard disk was 1TB and had three partitions: PQSERVICE ~35GB, BOOT SERVICE (or some title like that) 100MB, and ACER with the remainder of the space. How should the new hard drive be formatted?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed on a partition of my 1TB drive. I recently bought a 240GB SSD and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit there. I did a completely fresh install, since I needed to move things around on the original partition anyway. So basically, I put all the drives in (which was probably my first mistake) and fired it up and low and behold, it booted immediately from my original drive, despite the fact that I had set the SSD as the first boot option in BIOS. Grr.. Anyway, I ran the setup for Win 7, hoping that would resolve the issue and I now boot (sort of) exclusively from the new SSD and into the new install of Windows.
now that I've moved everything off the original drive that I wanted to keep (onto a 3rd drive) I want to delete the old Windows partition and merge it with some other unused space on that drive but it won't allow me to do that, since the old Windows partition is listed as the System drive, while my new Windows partition is listed as the Boot drive.The other strange issue that I came across... is that I went back into BIOS and removed the option to boot from the old drive completely and then it wouldn't even boot at all.It kept asking me if I wanted to make a floppy disk of the SATA drivers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit RTM installed for a couple of months now, but there is one issue that I have not been able to solve for this whole time.
When I first went to install Windows 7, I had to remove a 2GB stick of RAM in order for the installer to even start without blue screen-ing on me.
So I took the RAM out and managed to get 7 installed (yay!). However, when I tried to reinsert the RAM, I got the same BSOD that I would when trying to install 7 with the other 2GB in. I gave up after a couple of tries, and it has taken me this long to try to solve the issue.
I am pretty sure that my specs are 7 Ultimate x64 compatible? Because if not, that is most probably the source of the error.
Otherwise, could anyone lend a hand? It really hurts having 2GB of RAM lying around in a drawer being useless.

It also has a vga in, so i can plug it in as a secondary monitor on my other computer, but touchscreen doesnt work when i do. I called HP and asked for the touchscreen driver (some touchscreens have special drivers), but they had no clue of anything like that. I thought WiN7 was supposed to come preloaded with it, but if i look for "tablet" settings in my computer, its just not there, even though i see it on my AIO. I dont get it, where is the driver for touch? And will touchscreen still work plugged in as a VGA?

When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.Anyways I used to have transparency, but when I try to get that same effect it says "The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work. I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI entered the CD and then it automatically booted, and then it went through the usual setup routine and the problem started when it reached the part where I'm supposed to choose where to install Windows.I formatted Local Disk "C" and then chose it to install there, it then said: This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.I then shut down the PC and then re-booted it, it read the CD and then went to "Windows is loading files" then skipped the installation and went for the normal "Starting Windows"... It's weird because I don't have a "C" so how come it says that without having windows? Anyway, it passes this screen and suddenly it just glows in multi colors until I have to shut it down myself. Trying again gave the same response (Which means I can't access the install screen. All what I have is the BIOS menu)There is no way I can return the CD at the moment, and I lost the previous Windows disk...
