I have my daughter's Acer 4820T laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium with 4GB DDR3 memory. The original HD failed, and I had to purchase the eRecovery media from Acer as she had not created them when it was working fine. I installed the new HD a 500GB Seagate, but when I run the eRecovery, I am able to choose the UI Language, and on the next screen where the choice of recovery options appear, the only one of the 3 options available is Exit. Both the Restore to Factory Settings and the Restore OS Saving Data options are grayed out. I tried changing the SATA method in the BIOS from ACHI to IDE. I wrote Tech Support but the system is 18 months old and out of warranty, and the only help they offered was to tell me to partition the drive with one partition formatted NTFS, directions to their support link.
I bought an Acer 5742 with Windows 7 last month, and I have reason to believe I was attacked by a virus. Losing hope, I try using the 4 recovery disks GeekSquad gave me when I bought the computer. I choose the option to restore my computer to factory defaults while backing up my personal files. Everything goes smoothly up until the "updating system" part. According to the time-elapsed, it's been 10 hours since its been frozen on 99% (still on Disc 3 of the 4). I'm going to put in Disc 4 and leave it for another couple hours while I go to school. If I don't see any changes, I'm going to force a shut down and reboot the computer. Will this harm my computer, and possibly corrupt my system?
my computer is not working. It won't get past the start up screen so I am trying to do the Acer eRecovery Management. I can pull it up just fine but the blue circle (thinking) has been there for awhile and won't finish loading..is that normal?
I tried to restore Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit on a new 700GB hard drive on my ACER Inspire X3950 by using the 3 recovery DVD's that were created by ACER eRecovery Management Software. The computer won't boot even when Safe Mode is selected.
Is it a formatting issue of the new hard drive? The original hard disk was 1TB and had three partitions: PQSERVICE ~35GB, BOOT SERVICE (or some title like that) 100MB, and ACER with the remainder of the space. How should the new hard drive be formatted?
Recently, I got an Acer z5610 AllInOne computer.Everything is installed and working fine.The problem I have now, is that I need to install a second hard drive(64 bit SSD)I opened the case, installed the drive, and windows recognised it immediately.Now I want to change the system from old HDD to the new SSD. Is there a shortcut? Acer eRecovery doesn't seem to support system drive change.
I have an Acer 4830tg with an HDMI port. In the past I've used it to connect to my tv, but it stopped working yesterday ( the tv shows "no signal") and my laptop didn't detect the TV. However, when I connect it to another TV it worked perfectly, so i guess is not the cable. The TV in other hand, also work normally when I connect it with my PS3, so the tv is fine i think. I already try to uninstall graphic card, sound card and reinstall it but no avail. The only interesting thing i found is when i restart my laptop with hdmi cord plugged in, it freeze on acer logo. My problem is that after turning on the power for the very first time, it will not recognize my keyboard. I have several different keyboards and I tried them all- including the Acer keyboard that came with the PC.I think my mistake was that before turning on the power, I had plugged in both an HDMI connection to my TV as well as a DVI connection to an Acer 23" monitor. Then when I powered up the PC, it defaulted to the HDMI output but I didn't realize that and was expecting it to displa on the monitor.It took me a while to figure out that it defaulted to the HDMI connection. I started out by looking at my monitor and couldn't figure out why there was no activity on the monitor. But once I switched the TV input to "HDMI 1", I saw the output was displayed on my TV.Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to recognize any keyboard now although it does make a "clicking" sound when I press keys on the keyboard. I tried to press WIN+P to change the HDMI output to show the same output on both the TV and the monitor but it seems to default to "side by side" and the only thing that I can think to do now is to pull out the power cord plug and try to re-boot with just the monitor connected and without the HDMI connection.When I hit the "power off" button, it has no effect. Should I pull out the power cord from the outlet? Or is there some other way to get it to reboot?
my laptop acer aspire doesnt recognize my external hard drive in windows7. I will be great ful to them. it doesn't show any external hard drive but it shows pen drive and mobile usb cable but not external hard disk
I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 64-Bit (Windows 7 Home Premium) laptop that I bought before the summer, today a Windows Update has given me an Acer display update published on the 28/12/2011. I thought because I had my vga cable plugged into the TV Windows Update may have become confused but despite checking for updates again it still appears there as optional.
AMD/ATI is recognized by Windows and Windows Update and there had already been a display driver update not so long ago, so I cannnot understand why I'm receiving an update for the wrong machine?
When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.
When I press down f10 and ALT at the same time during boot up from the factory recovery disk when seeing the splash screen, nothing happens and the 'acer laptap just boots from the regular hard drive as usual.
We are running a small network with a NAS and networked PC's. The PC's are all running Windows 7 Ultimate. One PC will open files already open by others and does not notify that the file is in use. This user enters information into the file, saves and closes.When the original user (accessing the file first, sometimes adds information) saves and closes the file, the changes from the second user are lost.
I have a pretty old Compaq Pressario that was running 2 512 MB sticks so I added 2 1 GB sticks today but it still shows it only utilizing 1 MB. I put the new sticks in the original slots and moved the old ones over so it is not an issue of installationI ran CPU-Z and all four sticks show up in the SPD tab but the 2 new ones only have values in the timings table under JEDEC #1, the 2 old ones have JEDEC #1, 2, and 3.
i want to ask. My windows cannot recognize my CD-R files. i put in my CD-R and windows recognize it as blank CD-R. while there's file (an autorun files and software installer) in that CD-R. i have pc and laptop, i try putting my cd-r on my pc (win xp sp2) my windows recognize the file, but when i try putting on my laptop (win 7 64bit) it recognized as blank cd-r.
I have two drives by seagate 1tb and 500gb. The 1tb drive is highspeed but when i plug it into the 3.0usb ss it does not show up. Im stuck using the 2.0 drive.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a Macbook Pro, and I would like to use the laptop screen as well as my ASUS 23" lcd monitor. When I open the display > screen resolution window, it shows that I have only one display, and gives me no options for multiple displays. The same image is displayed on both screens. My 2nd monitor is hooked up through DVI, and worked just fine with Windows XP. Does anyone know what my problem might be?

I was gfiven some external hardrives with enclosures and was told they all work. I cant get a single one to be recognized in computer. any tips or workarounds to get windows to recognize these drives. I am now using an acer 64 bit laptop.
I want to install a HP printer HP laserjet 1020 on a PC with Windows 7 32, When I plug it, I receive a message like USB device not recognize. I did try the USB port with a USB memory stick, and the USB port is functioning. This printer had worked few time with the PC. Now, never connect. I uninstall the printer driver then re-install, same problem I did try the printer in another system and it work Is it possible the the USB port is no sourcing enough current for the printer?
does it recognize it as general how much ram, or does it go specific. sorry if its a confusing question..but i have a gig ram on this laptop and i have some used for video ram..so total is a little under 1 gig, how will windows 7 recognize this, as "your pc has 1 gig ram" or "your pc has 9** ram".
I have been pouring over countless threads on issues related to this. Yet none of these solutions seem to be working for me, and I am fairly certain that I am implementing them correctly.Xbox and PC do recognize each other and I can access the libraries on my computer via xbox.I have setup the Windows Media Center on my Xbox.WMC on my computer shows the Xbox is setup as an Extender. It also states that it is ready for use. Every time I try to run WMC on my Xbox it enters the black screen that says Windows Media Center and has the load "bubbles" underneath with the word Contacting... after a period the screen times out and gives me the message:"Connection Failure.The Xbox could not connect to the Windows Media Player PC. Turn the console off and and back on again, and try again."
I have just found to my irritation that iTunes _will_ check CD info such as song names etc. ....however....
Every now and then it fails to find info. It almost seems as if it does not even try. Usually when I insert a CD, it tells me it's checking with Gracenote, and in short order the details pop up. Then suddenly it will just not get details. I have read the instructions and reasons why.
What does not make sense is that in two instances, Disc 2 of a double disc set will register, but disc one will not. This has happened with Physical Graffiti, by Led Zeppelin, and a Best Of by Faith No More. Of the maybe 1/2 doz CDs that have failed so far, the others were single disc. The failures have failed in spite of repeated attempts, restarts and even a reboot. All the failures were pretty popular, and what I thought were far more obscure stuff worked fine.
EDIT: I now have three double CD sets that have had the first disc fail, while the second gets info. So that is over-represented, but not exclusive: that is to say I have had double CD sets that worked, and single CDs that have failed to supply info from the web.
I can't connect to the internet on my desktop pc after I reinstalled windows. I have linksys wrt320n router and I can connect to it only by wi-fi. When I try to install router's setup wizard or network magic - it writes that my computer is not connected to router though it is connected in the same way as it was before. In the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION it is also written that network cable is unplugged...I also tryed to connect just internet cable without router - PC also didn't react. Maybe the problem is that my network adapter (nvidia nforce) is without appropriate drivers? Cause I can't find drivers for nvidia nforce networking contoller for windows 7.
I have a TDK Trans-it 4GB pen. One of my machines recognizes it just fine, but the other does not evenn recognize it (no dialog, search for new hardware does not return)
