View 5 Replies View RelatedI am currently using windows 7 ultimate x64. I was in the middle of a process restoring my computer to a few days back and suddenly it froze. I did a power shut down and when I turned it back on, I wasn't able to get back into windows. I was brought to startup repair and it gave me errors. 'Boot manager failed to find OS loader'. There was options for restoring, but all my restore points were gone. Recovery wasn't able to find image backup.
"Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically". I was told to go into safe mode to restore, but whenever I enter safe mode, startup repair would take over and shows the same errors, also I read a tutorial using a repair disc ( made a copy of it on someone elses ultimate x64 computer) and I get the 0x00000e9 error if i boot from disc. What can I do? As of now I don't have the installation disc with me. I wont be able to get hold of it until tomorrow. There's a lot of important files in that hard drive and I really cant lose any.
I am using a USB device for Internet Service. I need to boot into safe mode with networking support. Is there a solution that USB port could be detected in safe mode , letting me use Internet

The software I wish to install in XP mode uses a PCMCIA card (with dongle) to communicate with various machine controls for troubleshooting.
My HP Pavilion laptop has an ExpressCard slot for which I can buy an ExpressCard to PCMCIA adaptor.
My questions is: Will the XP Mode software running on the Win 7 machine support and utilize the ExpressCard slot?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've encountered a problem when staring Windows 7 in Safe Mode (all 3 of them). It's a bit hard to explain so I took some pictures.
- After selecting any of the Safe Mode options I'm greeted with this:
- After pressing Ok, It'll show the usual Log On screen, after pressing on my account I'll receive this:
Then nothing will happen, and it seems to be loading nothing forever. It might be important to note that everything works fine on regular mode and a scan with Microsoft Security Essentials shows nothing suspicious.
I have been having nonfrequent bsod errors for quite a while, and since playing a game of Starcraft 2 today (~3 hours ago) my computer started to constantly bsod. I can not log into windows for more than a minute or two (if that) before it BSOD's again. I am currently posting with my laptop, and the desktop that is BSOD'ing is dualbooting linux (ubuntu) which has no BSOD issues whatsoever. I also ran the memtest that comes with installing ubuntu and no issues were found. Attached are my minidumps.

The BSOD started about two months ago while the gf was using it and didn't happen for me till yesterday. As of now I can get it to start normally but It crashes any time I open anything. I am totally new to this and am really confused. About maybe a week ago I started having BSOD, plus Windows wouldn't restart after going into Sleepmode, and when I tried to Shut Down it would bring up the shut down screen then just keep "shutting down" with out ever shutting down.
So I read some internet stuff and "Reinstalled Windows 7" and seem to still have the issues.

I am having trouble installing Windows XP Mode on a Dell E4300 laptop with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. For the record, I have installed XPM on multiple occasions without any issues at all, until now. Upon launching the XP Mode installer, it starts to deploy the temporary files but hangs at expanding 'sourcesxpm'. Then I get the following error: 'This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package'.
If I try multiple times, I am sometimes able to get beyond that point where the XP Mode setup screen shows up, but then I receive an error during the installation process that says: 'Source file not found: D:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxsourcesXPM. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it'. I've checked everything I could with no avail permissions, Hardware Virtualization. I also installed it on an identical machine with the same setup. Then I got a hunch that the Windows Installer might have been corrupted. So I ran the command to un-install it (msiexec /uninstall) & got the same error message as above.
I Installed 185.81 geforce driver and I have B7100. I can not set up custom resolution 1360*768 for my LCD Tv. I see always "custom mode test failed" error.I tried different drivers but the result is still same. I can set up at XP with same driver and setting 1360*768 custom resolution but at W7 I can not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a message on a bluescreen, often when the cpu comes out of sleep mode, that it is shutting down to avoid damage or something. I also often have trouble getting ctrl alt del to work. Recently, we removed several viruses, and hijackers from the computer, that made it so I couldn't even google search, and its only been doing it since then. As I write, malwarebytes said it was removing threats. I have scoured everywhere I could think of and removed almost all unnecessary programs, files and downloads. Could there stll be a virus? Could a previous virus have corrupted the comp irreversibly?

No matter what I try it always installs the 32 bit version.I've even re-partitioned my hard drive in order to get a completely fresh install. But nothing seems to work.Windows "knows" my system in 64 bit capable. In the Control Panel - View basic info about your computer it shows my processor as "AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.4 GHz".Is there a way coerce a 64 bit install?

Have an Advent laptop here, BSODing when booting with the error message above.Cannot run in safe mode and any start up repair attempts have failed.I have run disk checks both in the Windows start up tool and in Linux and they both say no problems but when I try a system restore it says there is one. I have a new build using Windows 7 HP SP1 64-bit which has been up and running for about a month. MS updates for 11/14/12 included the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Win 7. This update failed to install (several times), even when done alone. First time since building system where it has failed an update. Only thing I have added since original build is a EVGA GTX 650 video card (last week).

I am currently in Safe Mode with Networking without issue.The owner of the computer says that something happened earlier today while he was online that sounds like some false antivirus popup, but he's unsure. Here are the symptoms in normal mode. Every application, from moving through them to opening and closing them, runs exceptionally slow - one to three minutes to open, at least a minute to open internet pages. I noticed that, when in IE, as the pages are loading the IE page disappears and reappears. I am not very familiar with Windows 7 so I don't know if it is related. The computer seems to be getting slower as the day goes on. CPU usage is very high.So far, I have disabled many startup items that were unnecessary. I ran CCleaner and cleaned up. MBAM was run in both normal and safe mode, full scans, and found nothing. This is also posted in Viruses and Malware, but I'm unsure where it should live.
