Windows 7 Error Recovery Screen?

Sep 17, 2012

I have been experiencing a problem that has occurred out of nowhere on my HP TouchSmart Tx2-1377nr laptop. I'll go step by step on what happens when I turn it on:1.Standard Boot Screen occurs.2."Windows Error Recovery" Screen. On this screen I have two options, launch startup repair or start windows normally.2a. If I start the startup repair it shows a loading files screen then I am met with the backround of my login screen. No user accounts are shown and all I can control from this screen is my cursor. After a couple seconds, a command prompt window flashes and disappears and from there on I'm stuck on this screen till I unplug the battery or emergency shut off.2b. If I start windows normally the 4 color loading animation starts. Then the computer just bluescreens, and restarts and I'm sent back to step 1.I've tried a lot of things. I've started it in safe mode, done every option off F8, done a lot with my BIOS, and tried reinstalling windows off the windows installation disk. When I try to install windows off the disk, it holds me on the setting up installation screen with the same backround as step 2a.

Windows Error Recovery Screen Keeps Coming Back

Dec 23, 2011

My mothers Dell running Windows 7 has a problem where, soon after powerup, the screen goes to a Windows Error Recovery screen featuring two options, either A) Launch Startup Repair, or B) Start Windows Normally. If A is chosen, then it goes to a screen which says, Loading files at the bottom with a loading bar, then when the bar is full, the screen returns right back to the Windows Error Recovery screen. The same with starting normally.

Windows 7 Won't Start, Always Ends Up At Window Recovery Error Screen

Oct 27, 2012

I have a dell desktop computer with windows 7. As soon as you turn it on it goes straight to the "windows error recovery" screen where it has the option to either start system recovery or start windows normally. If I choose system recovery, it just gets stuck on a screen that looks similar to the backround of the loggin screen, but it's just the backround and my mouse. It will stay on this screen for hours until I turn it off. If I start windows normally, it will have the regular "starting windows" screen then it will flash back to the "windows error recovery" screen. If I try booting into safe mode, or loading the last good configuration, it will always bring me back to "windows error recovery". I have the 2 recovery disks I made when the computer was first bought, but when those are inserted, nothing happens and I'm not sure how to open them, it just always ends up at the "windows error recovery" screen. This computer is only about a year old and I have no idea what to do. I just need it to start up again.

Error Recovery Screen Appears During Windows 7 Clean Install To SSD

Apr 29, 2012

I'm weeks of spasmodic attempts into replacing my old C-drive with a new SSD and a clean install of Windows 7, 32 bit. Here's the current loop: Following Sandisk's instructions on formatting SSD for use as OS with Win 7:

1) I verify BIOS - SATA is (as before) set to ACHI
2) I place Windows 7 upgrade disc in drive, hoping to use "Option 1 - normal clean install" (from Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version )
3) I get "Windows Error Recovery" screen, stating "windows did not shut down normally" (white text on black screen), with two options - start normally, or startup repair.

- if I select "start normally," it merely returns (after a minute or two) to the same Error Recovery screen after some POSTs (nothing other than single-beep) - no request for my input, no "press any key," etc.
- if I select default ("startup repair") option load: "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" ultimately results after a lot of attempting to repair, etc.

PC will still run Ok from old HD when connected, and shows the SSD in Disk Management with a "System Reserved" 100 MB (F) partition along with a 112GB (E) partition. I keep thinking I need to wipe those and try again, but not sure how or if that's even worth trying. I did have the same SSD up and running Win 7 for a brief time - didn't start at some point afterwards...

Disc ASUS Recovery Error 1029, Cannot Boot Into That Recovery Partition

Jun 23, 2012

I've gotten to the point where I need to just reinstall windows completely on my Asus G74SX (too many problems, I want to start fresh.). I encounter an error 1029 with Asus's recovery disks that I made when I had windows working: it says it is recovering all the way to 100% then doesnt work. I am in the process of trying it again so I'll see if it actually managed to wipe my hard drive like it said it was doing, and maybe if it did actually work and reinstall windows. However, I'd like to be able to get into the recovery partition because I would prefer restoring it with Asus as they recommend me to. However, when I hit F9, their target to get there, it doesn't do anything and just reloads the boot screen, with the Asus logo on it. I don't have an actual Wndows recovery CD so that's not an option, and at this point since my hard drive has likely been wiped by these recovery DVDs, I don't think going into Ubuntu and fixing the MBR will do me much good anymore. It may be worth noting that before I last restarted, I marked the Windows partition as active because of a tutorial here, making it so that recovery partition isn't active anymore.

I am receiving a windows error recovery each time we power up the compter. The first thing that comes up is windows error recovery. It says to use system repair (recommended) but when we do that it just goes to boot recovery. The other option we get is start windows normally...windows then starts but then freezes and goes right back to windows boot manager. It will not even load up in safe mode anymore.

Windows Error Recovery When Try To Boot

Oct 5, 2011

I did the stuff that is listed below, but first, my issue and a yes or no question: If I boot windows, without the Linux CD in, it shows me the "Windows Error Recovery" if I hit start windows normally, it starts loading the windows 7 screen, half way through the Windows Logo, it freezes, then brings me back to the windows error recovery, so I tried "Launch startup repair" it then brought me to a "Windows boot manager" and says 1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart, 2 choose your language settings and then click "next" 3 click repair computer.

Windows 7 Recovery Virus-error Code 8070005?

May 31, 2011

My son downloaded Windows 7 Recovery (virus) this weekend. I have Windows 7. I searched for the solution and it was suggested in a forum Grindsoft Trojan Killer.I downloaded that and it worked. It showed the hidden documents, programs and photos etc. I then ran Windows restore for a date much before the virus and that restored a almost normal computer. It seems I can do everything...have not checked everything but so far everything looks good but I am unable to do a Windows update.I get an error code 80070005. It acts like it is unable to access Microsoft. I have gone to the control panel-trouble shooter-windows update and it said it repaired it but still the same problem. I have done many scans with Malwarebytes, Online Norton and more of the Grindsoft Trojan Killer and everything comes up clean. I seems that I am hopefully down to this windows update problem

Computer Stopped At Windows 7 Error Recovery When Turned On

Jan 21, 2012

I am on Windows 7 x64. Today I turned my computer on and it stopped at the "Windows Error Recovery". From the 2 options given I chose "Start Windows Normally". After pressing Enter it will not go beyond the black screen where it says "Starting Windows" and immediately reboots to the "Windows Error Recovery" again. I then chose the other option which is "Launch Startup Repair", entered the Disk, wait for it to load system files but it reboots to the Disk loading the files again like an eternal loop. Tried the F8 Advance booting options, chose "boot in safe mode with command prompt", it starts loading but then it reboots itself again!!

My system specs are these:

Windows Error Recovery - System Repair Disk Didn't Fix

Nov 19, 2011

I'm writing about my brother's Samsung R780 laptop (running Windows 7 64 bit), which recently stopped working. When he starts the computer, he gets the following error: "Windows Error Recovery." Searching around online led us to create a system repair disk on my laptop (which also runs Windows 7). When we boot with the disk in the drive, a prompt asking for our language (which is greyed out so we can't change it) and our keyboard (which we can change) appears. Without changing the keyboard option, we press 'next' and then it freezes. We've also tried the 'repair your computer' option in the Advanced Boot Options, but it also freezes.

Windows Error Recovery Loop When Other Disks Are Connected (UEFI)

Dec 21, 2012

Just built a new PC, specs as follows:

3770K
32GB DDR3
ASRock Z77 Extreme6
Crucial M4 128GB (from previous build)
OCZ Vertex 4 128GB
WD 400GB (from previous previous build)

I got Windows 7 up and running on the Crucial drive (connected at SATA3_1, with the WD connected and functioning on SATA3_A1) and then decided it was time to get Xubuntu up and running on the OCZ (SATA3_0). So I installed rEFInd on the Crucial's ESP and it worked - I was able to launch Windows 7 from the rEFInd menu. I then disconnected the Crucial and connected the OCZ, and installed Xubuntu. In the UEFI, I set rEFInd as the boot device/manager, and from the rEFInd menu I can select Xubuntu and Windows 7 - great. However, I can only actually boot Xubuntu; booting Windows 7 results in a Windows Error Recovery loop.Disconnecting all but the Crucial SSD, I can get into Startup Repair. It attempts repair for several minutes, fails with the following details:Quote :Problem signature:

Error Recovery

Dec 3, 2008

Rafael writes "Today, while in a class, I installed some software in Windows 7. You know, to pass time. A reboot later, I was greeted by a driver-induced bugcheck, making me doubt the whole “Windows Vista applications will work fine on Windows 7” word going around… (but that’s another story)

I already knew what the problem was, so no big deal… I figured I’d just mash F8 a few times and boot up into the Last Known Good Configuration to prevent the culprit driver from loading and be on my way… "

Read on :-

Windows 7 Error Recovery is a punch in the nuts for techies - Within Windows

However Bryant at AeroXperience had a different view of the Recovery process

"got to work today and booted my macbook. Having forgotten that I switched it to boot Windows the night before, I didn’t hold the Option key to boot into Mac OS 10.5 (for work needs. I wouldn’t dare keep it otherwise). I wasn’t paying much attention to what was going on with the screen as I was in the middle of a meeting, but I got back to it after about 5 minutes and came upon the above scene unfolding on my laptop. It was vaguely familiar; Paul Thurrott reminded me later that it’s an offshoot of the Windows Recovery Environment which is now integrated into Windows 7 as opposed to being contained solely on the installation DVD.

The fact that the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) would be contained in the Windows 7 installation is nothing new; reviewers covered this after their reviews went live on Windows 7 keynote day at PDC. However, no one has actually seen it work, so here I am.

Yes, it actually works.

In my case, my instance of build 6801 died on an “unknown bugcheck: 12b” which led to WinRE being launched. The recovery mechanism checked for issues, subsequently asked me if I’d like to use system restore to roll back to the last working point, rolled back, and presented me with full details of all of its scans (some of which you’ll see in my quick-n-dirty BlackBerry shots). After all of that, it rebooted and voila, Windows 7!

Error: Recovery.Dat

Oct 30, 2009

I have a ASUS x83v notebook,

duel p8400 64bit 4gigs ram nVidea w/ 1gig ram

running vista.

During the RC trials I downloaded W7 burned it as a bootable iso and installed it from the dvd. It flawlessly installed I went through all the setup stuff, clock language ect. and then it reboots and just as it starts I got a screen with a big red ERROR on it with

"Can not open c:Recovery.dat"

I reinstalled it two more times, same thing.

I redownloaded the RC iso and burned it again then installed it again, same thing.

I figured it was somehting to do with the RC version, until today!

I just bought the W7 Ultamite64 and installed it and it did the same exact thing. I am guessing there has to be some incompatability with my BIOS or something but I don't know a lot about this stuff.

If you know anything please let me know as I can't buy a new computer to run W7.

Installation Error Recovery

Feb 20, 2009

I'm getting a very strange installation issue. I was hoping someone could shed some light on my problem.

To start with, I'm using a Windows 7 v7000 installer disk. I'm confident that this installer is good, because I've already set up my gaming machine with it.

Now I want to install Windows 7 on my home theater PC. The components are as follows:

ASUS P5N-EM HDMI

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz

Western Digital HD

2 GB of Ram

I am able to install windows Vista on this machine with out a problem.

This is what happens when I attempt to install windows 7:

Everything appears to load off of the DVD drive. I go through "Copying Files," "Expanding Files," "Installing Features," and "installing Updates." Then the machine reboots.

The installer continues to behave as expected, with "setup is updating registry settings." Then it reboots again. This is where the Sh*t hits the fan...

After the reboot, it takes me into a black screen "Windows Error Recovery." If I ask the machine to start up normal, it immediately reboots again, returning to another "Windows Error Recovery" screen. It will repeat this cycle forever.

If I ask it to start in Safe Mode, then I get the following error message: "Windows cannon complete installation in safe mode. To continue installing windows restart the computer."

I'm at a loss. I even downloaded build 7022, and the problem still persists.

Windows 7 Doesn't Load After 'windows Error Recovery'

May 17, 2011

i have a dell inspiron 1545 installed with windows 7. I started it this morning and installed the latest version of free AVAST virus protection which then told me to restart the computer. So after doing this, It didn't load properly after taking my password and came up with a blank screen. So i manually turned my computer off after having waited for it to load (which it never did) now when i turn it on it comes up with the 'windows error recovery' screen. I have tried every alternative way of booting it up including 'safe mode' all which didn't work and the screen ended up blank every time. I must have tried it at least 15 times but still had no joy.is there anything i can do without taking the computer to pieces?

Factory Image Recovery - Screen Freeze?

Apr 9, 2011

my laptop (Compaq Presario CQ61) contracted a virus that did some heavy damage. So I go into the boot up menu and decide to restore the laptop back to the factory settings, just to be on the safe side so I can start afresh. Now it's on a screen that says 'Factory image recovery preperation' and it's currently copying files to restore the hard drive, but it's froze on 58%.

Last night I did the same thing and left it overnight while I went to bed, and when I woke up this morning it was still froze on 1%.

Edit: The loading bar is still there, but the place where '58%' was has gone. My mouse is moving but very slowly.

Edit: My laptop is very warm and I can't feel or hear the fan... it's going to overheat. I've had to turn it off.
