Error - Windows Cannot Restart Into Recovery Environment
Aug 17, 2011
When I use the backup utility in the control panel, and try to restore an image, at the point where I hit restart, I get the message - windows cannot restart into recovery environment.
Has anyone ever seen this message (it's the first time I've seen it).

I've recently purchased a pre-made desktop. Upon arrival and start up today- I got the window's recovery error screen stating that hardware/software changes may be at fault. I have only the basics plugged in-I have tried unplugging them all and making sure all connections are secure, trying my old graphics card, and even dropping the ram down to 2gb. I cannot start in safe mode, nor window's normally. Whatever I choose, it goes to the window loading screen with the little orbs for about 10 seconds and restarts my computer. And ends up going to the recovery screen again. I have a reinstallation cd, but it wont read it.

When I start Windows 7 about 30 seconds after the login, I see an error message popping up that says: "Failed to initial environment". In the task bar I see the an icon that writes MFC, which is the program that gives the error message. I looked in my task manager under processes if I see MFC, but there is nothing like this. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.Does anyone have an idea what that would be?Here are 3 screen shots, which show the error and all processes running in my task manager.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit and Office 2007 and one day I get the error "Outlook could not create the work file check the temp environment". The error itself was of no help but after searching and searching I found supposed "fixes". I have tried a number of them but then I shut down the computer for the day and the next day the error is back.I will email you a beer or something.I have tried:Deleting all files in the temporary folders since one "fix" noted a full folderChecking the HKEY in regedit.exe and all was well with %userprofile%local settingemporary internet files so the suggestion was to change to "temp" instead of temporary internet files.I went into Internet Explorer tools and moved the folder per another "fix"I went to regedit and changed CACHE value to c:wi

I've gotten to the point where I need to just reinstall windows completely on my Asus G74SX (too many problems, I want to start fresh.). I encounter an error 1029 with Asus's recovery disks that I made when I had windows working: it says it is recovering all the way to 100% then doesnt work. I am in the process of trying it again so I'll see if it actually managed to wipe my hard drive like it said it was doing, and maybe if it did actually work and reinstall windows. However, I'd like to be able to get into the recovery partition because I would prefer restoring it with Asus as they recommend me to. However, when I hit F9, their target to get there, it doesn't do anything and just reloads the boot screen, with the Asus logo on it. I don't have an actual Wndows recovery CD so that's not an option, and at this point since my hard drive has likely been wiped by these recovery DVDs, I don't think going into Ubuntu and fixing the MBR will do me much good anymore. It may be worth noting that before I last restarted, I marked the Windows partition as active because of a tutorial here, making it so that recovery partition isn't active anymore.

I tried to break the disk on several parts with Partition Manager, but at the middle of the process it froze and I forced the computer to restart. After resetting it says to "Insert the Recover Disk or other Recovery Media". After it I put the disc with the Windows 7 and at the menu where you have to choose to move (by keyboard arrows) to installation, the keyboard does not work, so I can't move to the installation and it jumps directly to the Local Disc. I also tried Windows XP disc and the same problem - there is no chance to reinstall the system. The keyboard is working in the BIOS, but after does not work.

I attempted to install Windows 7 x64 RC version on my new desktop, and about 20 minutes into the "Complete Installation" section my computer crashed for a reason of which I'm not aware (I saw a blue screen with writing for about a second or two before my computer restarted). I now get the following error after windows attempts to "start services":
"Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation".
I've now clicked "OK" about 10 times, with my computer restarting properly each time, and the same error pops up every time.

I am receiving a windows error recovery each time we power up the compter. The first thing that comes up is windows error recovery. It says to use system repair (recommended) but when we do that it just goes to boot recovery. The other option we get is start windows normally...windows then starts but then freezes and goes right back to windows boot manager. It will not even load up in safe mode anymore.

Now I am having trouble on starting Windows. I get the "Windows Error Recovery" screen on startup or restart. And now I also get a blue screen that says something about "dumping files" at the bottom, it goes by so quickly I can't read everything.I've done some reading on the internet and most say that my registry has been compromised and to buy a registery cleaner. Is this correct? I am afraid to do anything, I don't want to lose what is on my harddrvie.I went to system restore and chose a restore point but then was afraid if I did that I would any programs I had installed, like the PC Tools I just installed last night

I did the stuff that is listed below, but first, my issue and a yes or no question: If I boot windows, without the Linux CD in, it shows me the "Windows Error Recovery" if I hit start windows normally, it starts loading the windows 7 screen, half way through the Windows Logo, it freezes, then brings me back to the windows error recovery, so I tried "Launch startup repair" it then brought me to a "Windows boot manager" and says 1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart, 2 choose your language settings and then click "next" 3 click repair computer.

I have been experiencing a problem that has occurred out of nowhere on my HP TouchSmart Tx2-1377nr laptop. I'll go step by step on what happens when I turn it on:1.Standard Boot Screen occurs.2."Windows Error Recovery" Screen. On this screen I have two options, launch startup repair or start windows normally.2a. If I start the startup repair it shows a loading files screen then I am met with the backround of my login screen. No user accounts are shown and all I can control from this screen is my cursor. After a couple seconds, a command prompt window flashes and disappears and from there on I'm stuck on this screen till I unplug the battery or emergency shut off.2b. If I start windows normally the 4 color loading animation starts. Then the computer just bluescreens, and restarts and I'm sent back to step 1.I've tried a lot of things. I've started it in safe mode, done every option off F8, done a lot with my BIOS, and tried reinstalling windows off the windows installation disk. When I try to install windows off the disk, it holds me on the setting up installation screen with the same backround as step 2a.

So it all started when I was playing swtor. I walked away from my computer to have a smoke. When I got back swtor had closed. I tried launching it again with no success. I used the fixlauncher.exe, again with no success. My computer then bsod's and restarts to windows error recovery. Attempted to launch startup repair, it restarts. Try to start windows normally, get a glint of hope from windows loading then got bsod flash then restarts. I've tried to start in safe mode, last good config, etc. no matter what I tried it didnt start. So I put th hdd in a different pc put a fresh windows 7 on it and still the same problem.

run Windows 7 Enterprise in a Server environment. Windows Server 2008 costs more than double, and both OS'es have their own IIS manager for deploying websites.
All the server roles available in Windows Server 2008 will probably not be used. So is there any downside in using Windows 7. Please be thorough in why or why not Windows 7 should be used.

So I have a machine on my hands that is suffering registry damage due to viruses that I managed to remove but I still can't get the registry repaired since the computer has no recovery partition and the original cd is gone. System restore did nothing so I'm wondering if there is a way to fix the registry with what those things missing.

My computer is less then 2 months old. I had an error to reinstall Windows 7, put in the disc, followed the directions, and when it was almost done, I got the blue screen of death......it then shut down, and tried to reboot. Now it does nothing but reboot, give me the Windows loading screen and then an error saying that Windows encountered an error during installation and would finish after reboot, hit ok. That loops over and over.
I attempted to change the boot sequence to pull from my CD Drive, instead of Hard drive first, however, im sorta computer illiterate, and when I get to the screen to change the order of boot, i do notice the Hard drive has a + next to it, which i take means its selected, and i move the highlighted bar down to the CD Drive and ive tried every key on my keyboard to make it select that and then enter but i just get the looping again, any suggestions?
