I'm using DVD Shrink to make iso's from DVD's and I've noticed that my ISO files are being stored in the VirtualStore folder. The file is fine and I can burn it back to DVD w/ no issues just strange how it doesn't store it in my root c: directory.

I want to plug in the stick and see the thumbnails for all the media files immediately.is there a way to store the cached thumbnail information right inside a folder to make it "portable"?

I recently got some work done on my machine at a "PC fixit" store. It was unbootable due to an encryption issue that I had created, so as part of the service, they loaded Ultimate on it. When I got the machine back, it worked fine, but I couldn't shut it down without holding down the power button (would always reboot). I still don't have any issues with my machine, but when I run scannow (many times) I get errors about seemingly important files, but I can't tell if I have cause for concern, or what the next steps should be, since I don't have any way to replace the corrupted files. I would prefer not to have the OS reloaded.

That way, if your computer whirs its final whir, you can restore your exact working environment onto a replacement computer". Am I expecting too much to think if my computer takes a dump that all I have to do to restore my computer completely is upload all the info on the external hard drive? Is this a mirror back up of my computer? If I had to format the hard drive will everything be normal after recalling the info from the external hard drive?

I have seen that a lot of stores carry safes for the storage of what ever is important. Is it okay to store an external hard drive along with other digital media in a safe? I have this old software that just flat doesn't work in any newer OS. The Virtual PC works, but it isn't seeing the drives on the real PC or it's files. XP Mode shows "C on Desk" and "D on Desk" but the Win98/ME vhd aren't showing anything like that.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have my tower pc on constant all day- to record a streaming IP Camera from my work.Initially, I saved these files into my docutments- which they would save as .avi files, and after every several days I would delete them as they would take up ALOT of space on my pc.My pc is 250GB in size, and usually it would be about 80GB full before I had the IP Camera. Just recently, I noticed all of the IP Camera avi files seemed to have disappeared from my documents if I went directly to the folder... I could still see them in documents when I was choosing a location to save the recordings.Upon right-clicking the avi files in the latter, the files would be of no size and wouldn't play.Now my computer is 210GB full in the matter of a week.

Tried running the System Update Readiness Tool but the Hotfix for Windows KB947821 it wants to install first always fails, and you can't say no to this or it says process aborted by user.Some other sites discuss copying files from another PC, which I don't have as I have a Mac. Also registry editing. Is there any way to fix this without doing either?Win 7 SP1 isn't installed. Tried downloading it (as Win Update won't find it) but it won't run - the same 800737 error and advises downloading the SURT as above. The error again is Windows component store corrupt.Win Update constantly wants to install 3 important updates, suspiciously all the same minute size of only 15kb - KB2676562, 2679255 and 2709715 from April, May and June 2012. These appear to install ok and go into the update history, but then show again and again as needing to be installed - clearly all related to the corrupt component store.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a new Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit machine, found that it did not come with virtual PC. Downloaded the critical patch Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu and installed it. Windows Virtual PC shows up in my Start Menu. Good so far. I go through the steps to create a virtual machine and use the option to 'use an existing vhd file' and when I click 'Create' I get the above pop-up message "Cannot attach the virtual hard disk to the virtual machine. Check values and try again". A factual message but completely useless as with all error messages from Microsoft. I have tried the following:1. When I attach that vhd using Disk Management, it mounts in drive E:, I can see the files and browse the dirs in E:. In the Disk Management View, the drive shows up as 127 Gigs but 107 is unallocated space. The physical size of the vhd is only 25 Gigs2. Others in my company were able to create the virtual machine with the same vhd, checked the byte size and timing, so nothing is wrong with the vhd file itself.
3. Tried to create after shutting down all virus protection including the Micorsoft antimalware protection service. No luck4. Tried Vhd resize to resize the vhd to a smaller size (since it showed up in disk management as 127 Gigs, I thought maybe it was that size), but VHDResizer could not open the input file, gave an errors "Can only load fixed or dynamic drives"
I tried to install new updates of Ableton live and the machine crashed badly... and since them it has really gone a bit wonky. When I press the on button to boot up the laptop I get the following message.The Windows Boot Configuration Data (BCD) Store file contains some invalid information.[CODE]I have a back up on another external drive ..... plus I have made a repair disk and so on when I first got the machine.

I have used Take Ownership and removed Windows Live Mail 64 and installed Windows Mail 64 as per tutorial.
I have the shortcut on the desktop but when I try to open from there it says:-
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Mail message store. Windows Mail was unable to locate its message database. If you’ve moved the database files to a new location, click okay to reset the database to that location.
I clicked okay and I now click on the hidden folder Widows Mail hoping that will do the trick, it doesn’t!
The next error message I get is:-
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Mail message store.
The last error message I get is:-
Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised.
i can t` open any files or folder at windows 7 i have tried registry key and most of google search so i need a real help plz there are many important things on the pc
