View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in the trenches trying to develop a Windows 7 image for work. This is what I've done so far, I installed Win 7 64-bit on a test computer and did some customizations ( added programs, etc..). I then ran sysprep from C:WindowsSystem32Sysprep... and the process completed just fine. Okay, so I decided to do further customization of the sysprep process by creating an unattend.xml file using WAIK... Ran Sysprep again - not bad results - but I now notice when I attempt to open any log files ( Pather folder ) or "open" the unattend.xml file I get the following error message: "Windows cannot find 'C:WindowsSystem32sysprepunattend.xml' Make sure you typed the name correctly and Try Again" Yet the files are visible in Windows Explorer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Samsung RC420 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium edition OS. When I was installing a software last night, a message pops up and tells me I cannot continue installation until I close a certain program (in this case it was Adobe Updater, which was not opened at all).Today, I am trying to open "my briefcase" from a USB thumb, but a message pops up telling me I cannot open "my briefcase" as it appears a file in it is already open. But nothing else is open on my computer. It was my first time opening anything from the USB thumb.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to have only one window per open folder in Win 7. This was how XP (mostly) worked. I cannot find a way to do this in Win 7. It seems I have all the folders open in the same window, or each time I double click on a folder it opens again in a new window. I want that when I double click on an a folder that is already open in a window that that window just moves to the front.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my tower pc on constant all day- to record a streaming IP Camera from my work.Initially, I saved these files into my docutments- which they would save as .avi files, and after every several days I would delete them as they would take up ALOT of space on my pc.My pc is 250GB in size, and usually it would be about 80GB full before I had the IP Camera. Just recently, I noticed all of the IP Camera avi files seemed to have disappeared from my documents if I went directly to the folder... I could still see them in documents when I was choosing a location to save the recordings.Upon right-clicking the avi files in the latter, the files would be of no size and wouldn't play. Now my computer is 210GB full in the matter of a week.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm having a problem with opening files I use to open with two programs. One is mkv, vob and divx files with homecinema. And snes roms with an emulator. Basically win 7 would let me select the program and it would show up on the list of programs to use. I would select always use and I'm done. But I moved the folders containing the files to a different folder and now my two programs I use will not show up in the open with list. I now have to go to the program itself and search for the files. Its a pain because I could click on the files and get right to them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI took out my Windows 7 boot drive and put it inside of a USB enclosure and when I try and go to my profile, I can't open Users folder on other computer. I don't have an administrator account on this other computer. Is there any way to open up the folder? It just says access denied when I try and open it up on a windows xp computer with no ADMIN privileges (I can't get admin on this computer).
On a XP computer that has admin it opens fine. I figured since I actually wasn't using the OS that was on the drive I wouldn't have any trouble reading any folders on it (but I guess that because it's NTFS there are more security measures, unlike FAT32 which would let anybody read anything). Would I just need to open up the folder on a computer with admin and then copy the things over while I still have admin.
My friend has sent me all my pics from a recent trip to Thailand but when I try and open the files on windows 7 it says the files are either corrupt or not supported, my friend has a mac and I am wondering if this is the problem, I have tried extracting the files etc., with no success.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to fix up my brothers laptop, but this thing is a real doozy of a mess. Not sure how this happened, but somehow, the OS is no longer able to open any kind of executable other than firefox, and internet explorer. Anything else, including chrome, is on a no fly list. I can't even open the command prompt.
I tried adjusting the extension properties, and even reinstalled the extension (codec?), but nothing allows the computer to access its' exe's.
I'm pretty much convinced that since I can't access the registry (which is, I think, where the problem lies) and since the system restore is useless (it's been screwed up so long there aren't any restore points prior to the problem), I'm out of options, and simply have to wipe the HDD and do a clean reinstall, but I wanted to know if anyone out there has a different idea.
More curiosity than anything, since I have never seen a computer as screwed as this. Has anyone heard of a virus that causes this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had this problem a couple days ago. As the title says "I can't open any folder". I don't get any error message at all when I try opening the folder. I even tried "right-clicking then Open" and it still doesn't open. The only thing that when I try opening the folder is. The folder does appear at the bar on bottom of the screen flashing that it has opened but the window does not pop up. Also when I try clicking on the minimized folder on the bar (sorry I can't think of the name of the bar at the bottom of the screen). When I click it, I see the window flash by but it goes to the right side of the screen but it is not in view of the monitor screen. I also can't access My Computer,Downloads,Documents,or any type of folder. I also tried some registry fixes I found on google but no luck at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 machines all running Windows 7. Machine C & D are running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 and Machine A is running Win 7 Business Premium 64. To start I setup a Homegroup and joined everyone to it. I can open files on B & C via Machine A and I can open files on B via C and C via B, but when I try to open files on A via B or C, I can see the file, but when I try to access it the system freezes and does not open it.
Machine B is an older install of Windows 7. Machine B is a fairly new install. Both have very little "extra" programs on them except for anti-virus. Machine A has a new install replacing the the old install from the ground up as of yesterday of Win 7, has anti-virus that is the same variety as the others.
I have tried disabling the firewall on Machine A, did not work. I have tired disabling the anti-virus, did not work. I have even tried sharing a new folder outside the Homegroup and once again the other computer can see everything in it, they just freeze when I try to open anything. All the computers are on the same Workgroup. Machine A is running a gigabit adapter and the others are sitting at only 100/10 and are hardwired to the system.
my friend have deleted all my files from my laptop now it dosen't work. I have windows 7. when i want to open exe files message comes and it says:
